| Footballguys view: That sounds about right. The Panthers don't have much behind McCaffrey with Mike Davis (Falcons) moving on in free agency. Hubbard is a hard-charging running back who wastes little motion with the ball. He did have a problem with fumbling in college, so that will have to be cleaned up before he's trusted as the no.2 back on the depth chart. Hubbard could have handcuff value if he wins that spot in training camp. |

S Jeremy Chinn (knee), DE Marquis Haynes (shoulder), DE Yetur Gross-Matos (ankle) and CB Donte Jackson (toe) practiced in full Friday but are also listed as questionable. DT Bravvion Roy (non-injury) was added to the injury report Friday and did not practice, but he is expected to play. DE Brian Burns (groin) and RB Mike Davis (toe) practiced in full Friday and were taken off the injury report. Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey might see a little more help in the backfield, as head coach Ron Rivera searches for a secondary runner. '(McCaffrey) him touching the ball was no concern,' Rivera said. 'It was just the extra plays. So we have to look at that and find a way to take that load from him.'
| Footballguys view: McCaffrey should touch the ball as much as possible, but a breather from time-to-time would be nice. The team re-signed RBs Cameron Artis-Payne and Elijah Hood, they drafted RB Jordan Scarlett, signed Elijah Holyfield as an undrafted free agent and have RB Reggie Bonnafon in the mix as well. We'll watch this backup running back situation shake out in training camp. |
