Cowboys | Dak Prescott staying as starter? Mon Sep 12, 03:25 AM
Prior to the first game of the season, suggestions were made that Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott could unseat QB Tony Romo (back) as the starter if Prescott played well enough. Sources indicate Romo's job could be up for grabs, much the same way New England Patriots QB Tom Brady took it from QB Drew Bledsoe in 2001.
Footballguys view: After one game, it's a bit too early to make that prediction but we do realize that it's a possibility. Prescott looks good out there, but as there's more film on him we expect defenses to play him tougher. Against the Giants in Week 1, Prescott had 227 passing yards on 25-of-45 attempts. |

Patriots | Former QB Bledsoe sees similarities with Mallett Sun May 22, 03:38 PM
Jeff Howe, from NESN.com, reports former Patriots QB Drew Bledsoe acknowledges similarities between he and third-round pick Ryan Mallett. When Bledsoe was asked if Mallett had a similar playing style, he responded, "That's what it sounds like."
Footballguys view: Bledsoe and Mallett have very similar skill sets. Both have strong arms, stand tall in the pocket, and have deep accuracy. They also are both nearly immobile quarterbacks who don't pick up many yards with their feet. Mallett has off field and leadership questions to answer, but the team is hopeful he turns out like Bledsoe did on the field. |
