Giants | Jon Beason retires    Wed Feb 10, 02:52 PM

New York Giants LB Jon Beason announced his retirement Wednesday, Feb. 10, after the Giants released him.

Footballguys view: Beason was a first-round pick (25th overall) for the Panthers in 2005. When healthy, Beason was a playmaker and an impact player on defense. He was traded to the Giants in 2013, but injuries have robbed him of his effectiveness. Beason made it to the Pro Bowl three times, and he was once named All-Pro.

Giants | Jon Beason iffy for Week 3    Mon Sep 21, 11:32 AM

New York Giants LB Jon Beason (knee) will continue to work on the side this week, and he's iffy for Thursday, Sept. 24, in Week 3.

Footballguys view: Beason is the team's best run-defender, and they could certainly use his veteran leadership out there. The Giants have a short week as they take on Washington on Thursday night. Keep this news in mind when considering both Alfred Morris and Matt Jones in Week 3.

Footballguys view: Odighizuwa continues to be a loss with Jason Pierre-Paul out with what has been revealed to be a massive hand injury. Beason is also someone they would like back as soon as possible and Flowers should be ready to go and has performed very well thus far.

Giants | Jon Beason sitting    Wed Sep 16, 12:23 PM

New York Giants LB Jon Beason (knee) is out of practice Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Footballguys view: This bodes ill for the Giants defense as the middle of the defense missed Beason's experience badly last weekend in Dallas. We would once again say avoid this defense in fantasy, as this week they face a pretty solid Atlanta offense.

Odighizuwa was limited, while Casillas and Jenkins practiced in full.

Footballguys view: The Giants defense is very weak up the middle. We aren't sure which Cowboys back will get the majority of the work (or if any will), but all of them will face a vulnerable defense.

Footballguys view: They need Beason, so we'll watch this Friday. This defense is in real trouble anyway for Sunday and Dallas should have its way with them. We'd avoid starting the defense while starting Tony Romo, Jason Witten, Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams for the Cowboys.

Giants | Jon Beason says he'll play    Thu Sep 10, 02:44 PM

Updating an earlier report, New York Giants LB Jon Beason (knee) said he sat out of practice Thursday, Sept. 10, due to knee soreness. However, he plans to play in Week 1.

Footballguys view: They need him. The Dallas Cowboys are poised to shred what's left of the secondary, and they need a semblance of a pass rush. Beason can help provide that, but will he be on a snap count? Will he struggle? We don't like the Giants defense at all right now, especially this week.

Giants | Jon Beason injures knee    Sat Aug 22, 09:29 PM

New York Giants LB Jon Beason (knee) left a preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars Saturday, Aug. 22, with a sprained left knee and will not return.

Footballguys view: Just what the Giants need - another injury. It's looking grim for Big Blue with all these injuries and the team had issues last season when Beason was out early in the season. For as much money as they pay him, you'd think he might supplement his workout with some bionic limbs. This defense is in serious trouble.

New York Giants LB Jon Beason (toe) may see limited repetitions during training camp. Beason said he expects the team to make him be careful with his workload, while also doing what he can to adequately prepare for the season.

Footballguys view: Beason missed all but two games last year due to this toe injury. He's playing the "Mike" for the Giants this year, and Beason should see plenty of action. The Giants need to make sure he's at his best when the regular season starts.
