Giants | Sam Beal out for season Wed Jul 25, 12:21 PM
New York Giants CB Sam Beal (shoulder) is out for the season due to a shoulder injury, according to a source.
Footballguys view: The Giants used a third-round pick in the Supplemental Draft to select Beal earlier this month. He aggravated the injury at a practice earlier this week and it's disappointing development considering Beal's skill set and likelihood they would've used him as a reserve corner in sub-packages. |

Giants | Sam Beal signs rookie deal Mon Jul 16, 02:41 PM
New York Giants CB Sam Beal signed a four-year deal with the Giants Monday, July 16. Financial terms were not disclosed. The Giants selected Beal in the supplemental draft.
Footballguys view: It took a third-round pick (surrendered in 2019) for the Giants to get Beal on the roster. Academic reasons caused Beal to leave Western Michigan, and the Giants were one of many teams interested in securing his services. Measuring in at 6'1" 185 pounds, Beal has the length and instincts to make plays on the ball consistently. He'll be behind the curve having missed all offseason workouts, but Beal should be able to compete for a reserve role and he may have a larger impact than most think. |

Browns | Cleveland had interest in Sam Beal Thu Jul 12, 03:25 PM
New York Giants CB Sam Beal was believed to be a target for the Cleveland Browns during the supplemental draft. It is not known which round the Browns placed a bid on him, but it probably was the third round, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot.
Footballguys view: The Giants were clearly feeling more pressure for this move than the Browns. Beal is likely to be brought along a little slowly, but for the most part he should be a solid player in a year or two. |

Giants | Sam Beal selected by Giants Wed Jul 11, 01:38 PM
Western Michigan CB Sam Beal was taken by the New York Giants in the third round of the 2018 supplemental draft Wednesday, July 11.
Footballguys view: Well, sounds like it might be time for Eli Apple to pack his bags. Apple showed great promise his rookie year, but his attitude last year caused a lot of friction in the secondary. We thought he might be safe after the draft, but it seems like that wasn't the case. Beal is talented, and certainly no worse than Apple. the only things which could save Apple is 1) the secondary is razor thin and 2) Beal could struggle to succeed in his rookie year. |

Dolphins | Miami interest in two Thu Jul 5, 11:27 AM
Virginia Tech CB Adonis Alexander and Western Michigan CB Sam Beal, who are eligible for the NFL supplemental draft, are drawing interest from the Miami Dolphins.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins secondary was not great last season, but first rounder Minkah Fitzpatrick joined T.J. McDonald and Reshad Jones at safety and numerous corners are reportedly ready to take the next step. Both Beal and Alexander have ability, but the Dolphins may not want to spend picks for next year on them, or rather, may not be willing to part with higher than a third rounder for Beal to get him. Alexander has been rated a fifth rounder or higher by some analysts, so the Dolphins might be more willing to roll the dice there instead. |

Browns | Sam Beal may be option for CLE Mon Jul 2, 12:34 PM
Western Michigan CB Sam Beal could be an option for the Cleveland Browns in the supplemental draft if they believe he has starting potential, in the opinion of the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot. General manager John Dorsey attended Beal's Pro Day last week.

Redskins | Washington scouts three prospects Sun Jul 1, 06:12 PM
The Washington Redskins attended the Pro Days of Western Michigan CB Sam Beal, Virginia Tech CB Adonis Alexander and Mississippi State S Brandon Bryant.
Footballguys view: Josh Norman might be reaching the end of his viability at such a high price tag in Washington's eyes, so it makes sense to take a longer look at this group. |

Bengals | Cincy looking at two draft prospects Sun Jul 1, 06:10 PM
The Cincinnati Bengals have scouted Western Michigan CB Sam Beal and Virginia Tech CB Adonis Alexander leading up to the supplemental draft.
Footballguys view: Beal could go as high as the third round and Alexander has the length some teams covet at corner. Cincinnati has done a good job restocking their secondary through the draft, but at a high cost, three first-round picks in recent years, and this duo will come a supplemental draft discount. |

NFL | Sam Beal could go in third round Sat Jun 30, 03:15 PM
Western Michigan CB Sam Beal could go in the third round of the NFL supplemental draft. One team said he was valued as a second rounder if he were eligible for the NFL draft.
Footballguys view: There was some buzz about Beal being a first-round pick if he would've stayed in college, performed well and came out in the 2019 NFL draft. Beal has good size at 6'1" 190 pounds, and the Broncos corner has a nose for the ball. His length and football IQ put him around the play if it comes into his vicinity. All 32 teams were at his pro day last week, and we fully expect him to be selected in the Supplemental Draft on July 11th. |
Sam Beal player page
NFL | Sam Beal draws league-wide interest Fri Jun 29, 02:32 AM
Western Michigan CB Sam Beal held his Pro Day on Thursday, June 28, and it was attended by all 32 teams. Beal ran a 4.47 40-yard dash, posted a 37-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot, 6-inch broad jump. Beal is expected to be the highest supplemental pick since the Cleveland Browns selected WR Josh Gordon in the second round in 2012.
Footballguys view: At 6'1" 190 pounds, Beal has a fine size/speed combination. Some felt he could've been a first-round pick had he come out in the 2019 NFL draft. Even though there hasn't been a pick in the Supplmental Draft since 2015, it seems like with talented players like Beal being available we might get one or two names called on July 11th. |

Virginia Tech CB Adonis Alexander, Western Michigan CB Sam Beal and Mississippi State S Brandon Bryant are all very much on the radar of NFL teams ahead of the league's supplemental draft on July 11. NFL | Two apply for supplemental draft Wed Jun 6, 10:58 AM
Former Mississippi State DB Brandon Bryant and former Western Michigan CB Sam Beal have applied for the NFL supplemental draft.
Footballguys view: Bryant is a freakish athlete, measuring in at 5'11" 200 pounds and he's been timed at a 4.24 40-yard dash. Even though he's a speedy player, Bryant is also known as a sound tackler. Beal's game is all about making a play on the ball. Last year at Western Michigan, Beal broke up 10 passes and had two interceptions. In addition to those two defensive backs, Virginia Tech's Adonis Alexander is set to enter the supplemental draft as well. |
