Jaguars | Sign Bartel to the practice squad Mon Sep 7, 08:10 PM
Michael C. Wright, from the Florida Times-Union, reports on his twitter feed that the Jags added QB Richard Bartel to practice squad. Bartel is final member of the practice squad.
| Our view: Bartel was cut by the Browns, and now the former Tarleton State star is on his third team in two years. Once thought of as the next Tony Romo, Bartel will now run the scout team for the Jaguars in practice. |

Browns | Announce roster moves Sat Sep 5, 06:48 PM
ClevelandBrowns.com reports the Cleveland Browns have waived FB Charles Ali, CB Brandon Anderson, QB Richard Bartel, CB Tra Battle, OL Branndon Braxton, LB Titus Brown, OL Dustin Fry, DL Adam Hoppel, WR Paul Hubbard, RB Chris Jennings, WR Lance Leggett, OG Pat Murray, WR Jordan Norwood, OL Kurt Quarterman, DE Brian Schaefering, OG Isaac Sowells and DE Santonio Thomas. The Browns have also terminated the contract of SS Hamza Abdullah, RB Noah Herron, CB Corey Ivy, WR David Patten and TE Aaron Walker.
| Our view: Richard Bartel, once thought of as the next Tony Romo in Dallas, could be added to the practice squad if he clears waivers. Of all the wide receivers released by the Browns, we like the upside of rookie Jordan Norwood. He has good body control, football intelligence, and is a fairly savvy route runner. The Browns would be wise to add him to their practice squad. |

Browns | Harrell leaves without contract Tue May 5, 09:11 AM
Mary Kay Cabot, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports the Cleveland Browns were impressed with undrafted free-agent QB Graham Harrell (Texas Tech) and might like to add him to the roster in the future, a source said. The offensive staff felt Harrell, who participated in the team's rookie camp on a tryout basis, picked up the system quickly and has great potential. However, the Browns let him leave town without a contract, in part because it currently has four quarterbacks on the roster: QB Brady Quinn, QB Derek Anderson, QB Brett Ratliff and QB Richard Bartel.
| Our view: I wonder what Texas Tech Head Coach Mike Leach will have to say about this. Leach blasted Eric Mangini in the media because he thought the Browns head coach had leaked a negative story about Tech WR Michael Crabtree which led to him falling down draft boards. All 4 of the QBs on the Browns roster are much more talented than Harrell, and unless injuries strike it seems unlikely that he would make the active roster. |
