He spent last season in the UFL working his way towards the NFL. Now he gets his shot to prove that he belongs at this level.

'Obviously there's a little rust out there,' linebackers coach Ken Norton said of Banks. 'But the idea is can he line up and can he chase the ball? So far, it's about making a first impression, and I like the first impression he left ... Does he look like a ballplayer? Yes. Does he move well? Yes. Is there a chance? Absolutely.'

Footballguys view: Banks is trying to make a comeback after being incarcerated six years for a crime he didn't commit. He was a highly touted High School player who was once recruited by USC when Pete Carroll was there.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel did not necessarily rule out signing street free-agent LB Brian Banks, but he felt the player has many obstacles to overcome. Banks worked out for the team Tuesday, June 12. 'It went (well) considering that he hasn't been playing football. But you can tell he has been working out. The football drills, he still remembers those things and the more workouts he can have with these different teams, the more it will come back to him,' Crennel said. Banks spent five years in jail on a rape conviction before being exonerated.

Banks was a blue-chip prospect in high school when he entered a plea agreement in a sexual assault case. He was recently exonerated after new evidence showed he was innocent in the case.
