49ers | Nnamdi Asomugha waived Mon Nov 4, 04:50 PM
The San Francisco 49ers have officially waived CB Nnamdi Asomugha.
Footballguys view: Asomugha is no longer the player he used to be, and he hasn't been for some time. The 49ers had to make a move here to clear a spot for Eric Wright. Asomugha will hit waivers and there may not be much of a market for him as he struggles against the pass and the run at this point in his career. |

49ers | Nnamdi Asomugha expects a lot of playing time Fri Sep 6, 06:54 PM
San Francisco 49ers CB Nnamdi Asomugha (collarbone) said he expects to receive a lot of playing time Week 1 because he believes the Green Bay Packers will be throwing a lot during the game. He said he will learn Saturday, Sept. 7, if he needs to wear any support for his injured collarbone.
Footballguys view: The Packers will surely be in a three-wide set most of the time, which will put Asomugha in the line of fire. He was a shadow of his old self for the Eagles last year, so it will be interesting to see if Aaron Rodgers tests the one-time shutdown corner often early in this contest. |

San Francisco 49ers CB Nnamdi Asomugha (collarbone) is expected to play and serve as the team's third cornerback in Week 1.
Footballguys view: Even as the third corner, Asomugha could see work as the Green Bay Packers will throw the ball often. He's definitely lost a step but is a much better fit in San Francisco's scheme than he ever was in Philadelphia's. |

49ers | Nnamdi Asomugha will have to compete for roster spot Mon May 6, 02:12 PM
San Francisco 49ers CB Nnamdi Asomugha likely will have to win a role over CB Carlos Rogers, CB Tarell Brown or CB Chris Culliver during training camp to win a roster spot since he does not play on special teams. The team did not give Asomugha any guaranteed money in his deal, which means he has to compete for a roster spot.
Footballguys view: Asomugha is hoping a change of scenery will do him some good. He lost his confidence during his time with the Eagles but gets a fresh start with the 49ers. Playing behind that dominant front seven should bring his confidence back. |

The San Francisco 49ers signed free-agent CB Nnamdi Asomugha (Eagles) to a one-year, $3 million deal Tuesday, April 2.
Footballguys view: Asomugha isn't the same player he used to be and is hoping to give his career a bounce back with the 49ers. He lost his confidence with the Eagles and was constantly exposed in coverage. The 49ers have a better pass rush and overall defense so he could play stronger than he did with the Eagles. |
