Tennessee Titans OG Quinton Spain (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, Nov. 4, and has been ruled out for Week 9. FS Rashad Johnson (neck) and LB Aaron Wallace (shoulder) were limited during practice and are listed as questionable. RB Antonio Andrews (non-injury) did not practice but is not on the injury report.   Titans | Antonio Andrews in lead for No. 3 RB job    Fri Aug 26, 05:12 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews has a slight edge on RBs David Cobb and Bishop Sankey for the No. 3 running back job in part because of his special teams play, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

Footballguys view: Andrews was very good last year on a bad team, and in the event of injuries to Demarco Murray and Derrick Henry, he could fit well in the run-heavy approach of the Mike Mularkey Titans. Cobb would likely get picked up quickly if the Titans decide to let him go. Bishop Sankey is a mere afterthought at this point.

Titans | Antonio Andrews returns    Thu Aug 4, 11:00 AM

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews (hamstring) returned to practice Thursday, Aug. 4.

Footballguys view: Andrews had a shocking amount of work last season, including ten starts. We don't think he'll be anywhere near that busy this year with Demarco Murray (who we see as a low-end RB2) and second-round rookie Derrick Henry (an RB4) ahead of him on the depth chart. We wouldn't bother with him in redraft leagues.

Titans | Antonio Andrews stepping up    Thu Jun 23, 11:53 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews has responded well to the added competition of RB DeMarco Murray and RB Derrick Henry, head coach Mike Mularkey said.

Footballguys view: Andrews powerful running style and low center of gravity makes him a useful back in an "exotic smashmouth" approach. While the Titans don't have the money or draft capital invested in him that they have in Demarco Murray and Derrick Henry, Andrews has momentum and a chip on his shoulder. We will hear from him again, but it might not be this year in Tennessee.

Titans | Bishop Sankey performing well    Fri Jun 3, 03:39 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey has made some solid plays during offseason workouts, and head coach Mike Mularkey said he believes the competition at the position has improved the play of several of the running backs. Sankey is expected to compete with RBs Antonio Andrews and David Cobb for roster spots during training camp.

Footballguys view: We'll believe when we see it. Sankey has been a total bust for the Titans, and he's buried on the depth chart. The Titans are going to use an "exotic smashmouth" backfield featuring both DeMarco Murray and rookie Derrick Henry.

Titans | Antonio Andrews signs deal    Thu Mar 3, 04:18 PM

Tennessee Titans exclusive-rights free-agent RB Antonio Andrews signed a one-year deal Thursday, March 3. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Footballguys view: Andrews stepped up and performed last season, though his 3.6 yards per carry average is dismal. We think he'll end up well behind David Cobb and Bishop Sankey, but is worth keeping an eye on.

Titans | Bishop Sankey receives praise    Tue Dec 29, 12:14 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey received some praise from the coaching staff after the Week 16 loss. He led all Titans running backs with 30 snaps, although he ran just twice for seven yards and added three catches for a career-high 43 yards. Sankey had just two carries the previous nine weeks, and head coach Mike Mularkey said Sankey will continue to see more time in Week 17. Mularkey also feels that RB David Cobb is improving, but Cobb had only seven carries for 18 yards against the Houston Texans. RB Antonio Andrews lost an early fumble, and Mularkey didn't seem to have much enthusiasm for him.

Footballguys view: Sankey's dynasty value is low, but the team may still want to give him a shot to prove himself as a change-of-pace back.

Titans | Antonio Andrews finds end zone    Mon Dec 7, 02:02 AM

Titans | Antonio Andrews to share more this week    Thu Dec 3, 02:53 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews and RB David Cobb will divide carries this week more than at any point this year, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

Footballguys view: While the matchup is actually quite good, Andrews won't get enough carries to warrant a start higher than RB4.

Titans | Antonio Andrews runs well    Fri Nov 20, 12:10 AM

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews had 15 carries for 78 yards and two catches for 16 yards in a 19-13 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11.

Footballguys view: The Jags had been allowing a league-leading 3.3 yards per carry entering the game. Andrews is going to remain the starter as long as he holds up behind his tough running that generates a lot of yards after contact. He'll be a flex play against Oakland next week.

Titans | David Cobb to make debut    Thu Nov 19, 11:14 AM

Tennessee Titans RB David Cobb (calf) will make his season debut Thursday, Nov. 19, against the Jacksonville Jaguars. RB Antonio Andrews will start, and Cobb will be mixed in.

Footballguys view: We'd watch this closely to see what the split is, but we'd also avoid starting anyone here. "Starting" does not mean "getting all the carries" so Andrews remains no more than an RB4 start and Cobb is too unknown to risk as even that much.

Titans | Bishop Sankey doesn't play    Mon Nov 9, 10:32 AM

Tennessee Titans RB Bishop Sankey didn't play any offensive snaps Sunday, Nov. 8, in Week 9. RB Antonio Andrews played 45 snaps, and RB Dexter McCluster played 29 snaps.

Footballguys view: Fantasy owners should have moved on from Sankey, as the team certainly will at some point. The Titans seem comfortable with Antonio Andrews as their top guy at running back. We'll see how rookie David Cobb gets worked into the mix when he returns from the IR/R list this week.

Titans | Antonio Andrews involved heavily    Sun Nov 8, 06:44 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews -- deemed the workhorse back by interim head coach Mike Mularkey -- rushed 19 times for 88 yards, good for an average of 4.6 yards per attempt. Andrews added one catch for 23 yards.

Footballguys view: Andrews effort and low center of gravity made him tough to bring down. His burst is better than similarly built former Titan Shonn Greene, and the Titans might have found their lead back for the rest of the year no matter what David Cobb does. Next week brings the tough Carolina defense.

Titans | Antonio Andrews deemed workhorse    Wed Nov 4, 03:52 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews was called the Titans' workhorse running back by interim head coach Mike Mularkey Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Footballguys view: Being the lead back for the tumultuous Titans is a lot like being the least stinky fish-head. Sure it's notable, but you still won't want it sitting around your house. In this analogy, Andrews is the fish-head and for fantasy purposes, a low-end RB3. New Orleans isn't a great defense, but they are good enough to stymie this offense and given the chaos surrounding the organization, we have very little hope this offense will turn things around this week.

Titans | Antonio Andrews appears the lead back    Thu Oct 29, 12:15 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews appears to have switched roles with RB Bishop Sankey after Sankey didn't receive a carry in Week 7, according to The Tennessean's John Glennon. Andrews appears to be in line for more carries in Week 8 after rushing 10 times for 57 yards last week.

Footballguys view: Andrews represents no more than a flex play, sitting as an unsteady RB3 this week against Houston. Going forward, this could be a sign that the moment David Cobb is back from injury, he could see significant carries.

Titans | Antonio Andrews could see more carries    Mon Oct 26, 05:50 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews deserves more carries, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt. Andrew ran for 57 yards on 10 carries in a Week 7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Footballguys view: We're waiting for rookie David Cobb to get off IR/R and win the starting job. Andrews may get more time, but in most matchups we're unlikely to recommend him as anything more than a flex play or RB3.

Titans | Tennessee improving screen game    Wed Oct 14, 01:18 PM

The Tennessee Titans are a team that has become more effective running screen plays to running backs. RBs Bishop Sankey and Antonio Andrews both gained nice yardage and first downs on screen plays in Week 5 against the Buffalo Bills. Sankey can excel on screen plays, and the Titans could use more of them against teams with aggressive defenses.

Footballguys view: Head coach Ken Whisenhunt is trying to incorporate more screen plays in the offense this year. The Titans don't have a RB to rely on for fantasy owners, but rookie David Cobb will eventually return from injury and we're excited about his upside as a potential starter.

Titans | Tennessee RBs do very little in loss    Sun Oct 11, 08:17 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Dexter McCluster rushed eight times for 20 yards in the Week 5 loss against the Buffalo Bills. RB Antonio Andrews rushed seven times for just nine yards, but he had a touchdown while added three catches for a team-high 45 yards. RB Bishop Sankey also ran seven times for 20 yards with three grabs for 23 yards.

Footballguys view: The Bills run defense is one of the tougher units to solve, and when you split that three ways, it's not going to be viable in fantasy leagues. This situation will only get muddier when David Cobb returns later this season.

Titans | Antonio Andrews heads backfield    Sun Sep 27, 10:53 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews had 12 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown in a 35-33 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3.

Footballguys view: Every week it seems like a new back is taking over in Tennessee. Fantasy owners should not chase this, but instead wait until rookie David Cobb returns from injury. We think Cobb can be a productive back in this offense. In the meantime, Marcus Mariota is lighting it up through the air every week.

Titans | Committee to be used in TEN?    Mon Aug 3, 04:37 PM

Tennessee Titans RBs Bishop Sankey and David Cobb could lead a running back by committee this season, according to ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky. RBs Antonio Andrews and Dexter McCluster would also be in the mix.

Footballguys view: We think the Titans would be best to start Cobb over Sankey, but hey at least a RBBC featuring both gets them close. Cobb is a powerful and efficient runner who can grind down a defense. With rookie fullback Jalston Fowler blasting open holes in front of him, it could make for a nice rushing attack. Fantasy owners should stay away from the Titans backfield until we get more clarity about the starter and the split.

Titans | Confidence high for Antonio Andrews    Mon Jun 22, 11:32 PM

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews feels confident he can crack the roster, and is shooting for a starting tailback job in training camp and the preseason. 'I am just going for a starting spot, whether it is Bishop Sankey, Dexter McCluster, David Cobb, Jalston Fowler or Connor Neighbors, I am just trying to be the No. 1 guy,' Andrews said.

Footballguys view: At 5'10" 225 pounds, Andrews is a swift runner who can blast through arm tackles. He's also an option as a return man. We like rookie David Cobb to eventually come through as the starter, but he'll have to beat out Bishop Sankey. The way Sankey looked last year, that might not be too difficult.

Titans | Antonio Andrews promoted    Tue Oct 21, 10:56 AM

Tennessee Titans RB Antonio Andrews was promoted to the 53-man roster Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Footballguys view: An interesting addition for dynasty league owners here. Andrews has little nuance to his game, but he's the definition of a power back. Bishop Sankey hasn't been getting it done and has drawn some criticism from the coaching staff. The team may just want to see what the big man Andrews can do with a few carries.
