Bengals | Rodney Anderson cut    Mon Aug 17, 04:04 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Rodney Anderson (undisclosed) was waived Monday, Aug. 17, with a failed physical designation.

Footballguys view: Anderson has talent but he's just injured too often. It happened in college and that injury bug seems to have followed him to the pros. His hard-charging style might earn him a long-shot with another team...provided he can pass a physical.

Bengals | Rodney Anderson taking it slow    Fri Mar 6, 11:40 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Rodney Anderson (knee) 'looks pretty dang good' during workouts, according to running backs coach Jemal Singleton, but the Bengals will take a cautious approach to Anderson's rehab.

Footballguys view: Anderson is a running back we're watching closely in super deep dynasty formats. The 2019 sixth-round pick out of Oklahoma missed all but two games with a knee injury in his final season with the Sooners. Last year as a rookie with the Bengals, Anderson hurt his knee again in the preseason finale. He's been on the road to recovery since then and is hoping to be back in August.

Bengals | Torn ACL likely for Rodney Anderson     Fri Aug 30, 12:17 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Rodney Anderson (knee) is believed to have suffered a torn ACL in the team's preseason finale Thursday, Aug. 29.

Footballguys view: Anderson had just worked all the way back from a torn ACL. He is a second-round talent but fell to the sixth-round because of a myriad of injuries. Giovani Bernard's trade availability probably vanished with this news.

Bengals | Rodney Anderson ready to practice    Wed Aug 7, 02:54 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Rodney Anderson (knee) passed his physical Wednesday, Aug. 7, and has been cleared to practice.

Footballguys view: Anderson has talent as a runner but his football career has been held back by multiple injuries. He's cleared now and trying to earn a spot on the Bengals practice squad at least. If you play in a deep dynasty format, then keep tabs on a back like Anderson.

Bengals | PUP list an option for Rodney Anderson    Wed Jul 17, 03:18 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Rodney Anderson (knee) is a candidate to start the regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, in the opinion of The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr.

Footballguys view: Anderson is a talented runner who can grind down an opponent with power and determination. However, his injury history from his college days at Oklahoma is a long one. Anderson has talent to be at least part of a RBBC at the pro level, but he's going to have to get healthy and stay healthy in order to do that. When healthy, Anderson will be No. 3 or No. 4 on the depth chart.

Bengals | Rodney Anderson should be ready for camp    Sat May 18, 05:50 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Rodney Anderson (knee) said he expects to be completely recovered from his torn anterior cruciate ligament by the time training camp begins.

Footballguys view: Anderson tore his ACL two games into the season last year, so he should be close to 100 percent healthy by the time training camp rolls around. He's going to compete with fellow rookie Trayveon Williams for the third-string job behind Joe Mixon and Gio Bernard.

Bengals | No practice for Rodney Anderson    Fri May 10, 07:06 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Rodney Anderson (knee) did not participate in practice Friday, May 10, and is not expected to do much this offseason.

Footballguys view: This will likely be a redshirt year for Anderson, who has talent to be a second day pick but an injury history to go undrafted. The Bengals took him in the sixth despite having a strong 1-2 punch in the backfield. If he can stay healthy, Anderson should outproduce his draft position, even if it doesn't happen until his second contract.

Bengals | Cincinnati finalizes five rookie deals    Fri May 10, 03:47 PM

Cincinnati Bengals fourth-round DT Renell Wren (Arizona State), fourth-round OG/C Michael Jordan (Ohio State), sixth-round RBs Trayveon Williams (Texas A&M) and Rodney Anderson (Oklahoma) and seventh-round CB Jordan Brown (South Dakota State) signed four-year contracts on Friday, May 10. Financial terms of the deals were not immediately disclosed.

Footballguys view: Williams and Anderson would be very intriguing prospects if they weren't behind Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard. Williams is a smallish back with a zest for pass blocking and Anderson is a big back who is an excellent receiver, but has faced multiple serious injuries. Both might be a lot better than their sixth-round pedigree suggests.

Bengals | High ceiling for Rodney Anderson?    Sat May 4, 09:47 PM

Cincinnati Bengals RB Rodney Anderson 'can be the best back' from the 2019 draft class if he can stay healthy, according to one NFL executive, and the executive compared Anderson to Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson.

Footballguys view: Anderson is more like Stevan Ridley than he is David Johnson...and that's not a bad thing. In college at Oklahoma, Anderson was banged up quite a bit but he's a hard-charging back so that's to be expected somewhat. We'll see if he can stay healthy and impress as a reserve runner for the Bengals in 2019.

Texans | Houston to meet with Rodney Anderson    Thu Apr 4, 05:08 PM

Oklahoma RB Rodney Anderson is scheduled to meet with the Houston Texans before the 2019 NFL Draft, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Anderson is a volume runner with the power to wear an opponent down as a game goes on. His college career had flashes but a few major injuries held him back. If healthy, Anderson is a natural runner who can work his way through traffic. He's likely a late-round pick or priority free agent in the 2019 NFL draft class.

Eagles | Philly talked to Rodney Anderson    Tue Mar 5, 03:33 PM

Oklahoma RB Rodney Anderson formally interviewed with the Philadelphia Eagles at the NFL Combine. Anderson didn't run at the Combine and won't run at his Pro Day as he continues to recover from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Footballguys view: Anderson's college career at Oklahoma can be summed up by the saying 'what might have been.' Injuries in multiple seasons derailed what was looking to be a promising time with the Sooners. He's flashed enough power and ability at 220 pounds to get interest as a fourth-round pick if his medical tests are positive.

NFL | Rodney Anderson measurements    Wed Feb 27, 06:11 PM

Oklahoma RB Rodney Anderson measured at 6-foot-0 and 3/8 inches and 224 pounds with 9 6/8-inch hands, 30 6/8-inch arms and a 75 3/8-inch wingspan at the NFL Combine Wednesday, Feb. 27.

Footballguys view: Anderson's medical checks will be the most important part of his combine. He's had three season-ending injuries in a row during his college career with the Sooners. When healthy, Anderson can make big plays as a runner. He's a third-day sleeper in the 2019 NFL draft.

NFL | Rodney Anderson won't do much at combine    Mon Feb 25, 02:03 PM

University of Oklahoma RB Rodney Anderson (knee) will only participate in the bench press at the 2019 NFL Combine, according to a source. Anderson, who tore his anterior cruciate ligament in September and is not expected to be ready for Oklahoma's pro day, is reportedly hoping to work out for scouts during a personal pro day in April.

Footballguys view: Anderson has had three season-ending injuries during his college career with the Sooners. He's had huge games in college but Anderson has also missed plenty of time with injuries. Despite his natural talent, this long injury history has Anderson graded as more of a late-round pick for the 2019 NFL draft.
