Buccaneers | Eight players waived    Mon Aug 29, 03:21 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced they have waived FB Rendrick Taylor, WRs Aundrae Allison, Detron Lewis and Jock Sanders, TE Collin Franklin, DE Brandon Gilbeaux, CB Vince Anderson and P Robert Malone.

Footballguys view: Sanders made it further than his former college teammate Noel Devine. We could see Sanders sticking around on a practice squad somewhere because of his quickness, speed, and versatility.

Jets | Allison hopes to make plays    Sun May 30, 02:13 PM

CBSSports.com reports Jets WR Aundrae Allison's 2009 season was lost to a knee injury. Allison is excited to be back at full go and is just trying to get up to speed. "My focus is to be on top of my plays and get a feel for the offense," he said Friday.

Footballguys view: With the addition of Santonio Holmes it could push Allison off the final roster. However, Holmes is going to miss the first four games of the season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. The suspension may open up a roster spot for Allison during the first month of the season.

Jets | Allison claimed    Wed Aug 5, 05:22 PM

Drew Rosenhaus, agent for free-agent WR Aundrae Allison (Vikings), reports that Allison has been claimed off waivers by the New York Jets.

Footballguys view: Allison now joins a team where the 2nd wide receiver spot is wide open. He may be a longshot to win the job, but will compete with Chansi Stuckey, Brad Smith, David Clowney, and Wallace Wright for playing time. The Jets 2nd receiver is probably the 3rd or 4th target in this offense because of pass catching RB Leon Washington and athletic weapon TE Dustin Keller - in addition to their WR1 Jerricho Cotchery.

Vikings | Allison freelanced too much with his routes    Tue Aug 4, 10:36 PM

Judd Zulgad and Chip Scoggins, of The Star Tribune, report former Minnesota Vikings WR Aundrae Allison struggled with his route assignments, which is a reason for his quick exit from the team after being picked in the fifth-round in 2007.

Footballguys view: Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell said last year that Allison freelanced too much on the field and they told him he was his own worst enemy.

Vikings | Allison waived    Tue Aug 4, 05:02 PM

The Minnesota Vikings have announced they have waived WR Aundrae Allison.

Footballguys view: Allison is a good talent and should catch on quickly somewhere else. This is a clear sign that the coaches like the progress of second-year player Jaymar Johnson.

Vikings | Allison to be waived    Tue Aug 4, 12:03 PM

Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports the Minnesota Vikings are expected to waive WR Aundrae Allison Tuesday, Aug. 4, if he is not traded first, according to agent Drew Rosenhaus. Allison was not on the practice field Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Footballguys view: We can only assume that this means the Vikings like Jaymar Johnson as much as Cris Carter did at Larry Fitzgerald's camp.

Vikings | Several WRs will compete for final spot    Sat May 30, 05:21 PM

Chip Scoggins, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings WRs Aundrae Allison, Glenn Holt, Darius Reynaud and Jaymar Johnson will compete for the final wide receiver spot on the roster.

Footballguys view: Just because these guys are battling for the final WR spot on the roster doesn't mean that they don't have talent. One player to watch in this battle is WR Jaymar Johnson. A sixth-round pick out of Jackson State last year, Johnson spent most of the year on the Vikings practice squad. He is lightning quick, and has great footwork. He uses these attributes to get open against good coverage because he can break off a route before the defender can react. The battle for the final WR spot should go all the way through the preseason.
