Free-agent RB Jay Ajayi is expected to re-sign with the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, Nov. 15. Ajayi worked out for the team Friday morning, and a source said the two sides were deep in contract talks afterward.

Footballguys view: Ajayi should share with Miles Sanders and Boston Scott if Jordan Howard can't go. The Patriots run defense is somewhat vulnerable and Ajayi knows the offense, so he could play a big role in his first game back.

Free-agent RB Jay Ajayi (Eagles) has been medically cleared to play after meeting with Dr. James Andrews Wednesday, July 24, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Ajayi will probably have to wait for a running back injury to get signed, or at least for teams to have enough time to see that they aren't happy with some of their depth at the position. It's good see that he's cleared in time to get into a camp if a spot opens up.

Giants | Jay Ajayi a possible fit with NYG?    Wed May 8, 02:34 AM

The New York Giants could be interested in free-agent RB Jay Ajayi (Eagles) as a possible backup to RB Saquon Barkley, in the opinion of SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.

Footballguys view: Starting on Wednesday, signed free agents do not count against the compensatory pick forumla. That means we should see Ajayi find a new home in the near future. The Giants have superstar Saquon Barkley as their starter, but behind him they could use some veteran depth. Currently, Wayne Gallman is penciled in as the primary backup behind Barkley. The Giants also signed former Dallas Cowboys RB Rod Smith on Wednesday.

Colts | Jay Ajayi, Colts keeping in touch    Wed Mar 20, 06:24 PM

Free-agent RB Jay Ajayi (Eagles) had a good visit with the Indianapolis Colts Wednesday, March 20, and the sides will continue their dialogue. A signing is not imminent, but not out of the question.

Footballguys view: We'll see where this goes. Ajayi is looking for another fresh start on the open market. The Colts have a nice group of running backs with guys like Marlon Mack, Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines...but clearly they are looking for more depth at the position.

Colts | Jay Ajayi will visit Colts    Mon Mar 18, 06:17 PM

Free-agent RB Jay Ajayi (Eagles) is scheduled to visit the Indianapolis Colts Wednesday, March 20, according to a source.

Footballguys view: Ajayi only played in four games last year before going down with an ACL injury. The Colts have a good group of running backs in Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines, and Jordan Wilkins but clearly they are looking for more help. We'll see if that's through free agency with a back like Ajayi or in the 2019 NFL draft.

Eagles | Jay Ajayi finished in Philly?    Sun Jan 27, 09:58 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi's (knee) history of knee injuries will likely cause the Eagles to part ways with him this offseason and target a running back in the 2019 NFL Draft, in the opinion of Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Footballguys view: Ajayi was still running well at the beginning of the season but there will likely be skepticism about his ability in free agency in a league that is depressing the value more of running backs with each passing year. He'll likely have to fight his way up a depth chart to have fantasy value next season.

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi (knee) tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, according to sources. He suffered a torn right ACL in college.

Footballguys view: Ajayi (knee) will undergo surgery on his torn anterior cruciate ligament Thursday, Oct. 11, according to reports. The Eagles move forward with Wendell Smallwood as their lead back for now. When Corey Clement and Darren Sproles get healthy, the team will have more reinforcements (and a potential starter in Clement) at the position.

Eagles | Jay Ajayi out for the year     Mon Oct 8, 05:18 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Oct. 8, after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Free-agent DT T.Y. McGill (Chargers) was claimed in a corresponding move.

Footballguys view: The Eagles are banged up at the running back position already and this injury doesn't help. Without Ajayi, the team has to turn to Wendell Smallwood to lead the way for the time being. Corey Clement is banged up with a quad injury or else he would be in line for a larger role. The Eagles may have to depend on Smallwood in Week 6 as they play against the Giants on Thursday night.

Eagles | Jay Ajayi runs for 70 yards in OT loss    Sun Sep 30, 07:25 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi rushed 15 times for 70 yards in the Week 4 game against the Tennessee Titans and he added three grabs for 11 yards on four targets.

Footballguys view: Ajayi's back injury wasn't an issue as the Eagles offensive line did a good job opening holes for him. With the injuries elsewhere in the Eagles backfield, he should be at least a flex play against the Vikings next week.

Eagles | Jay Ajayi ready for Week 4    Fri Sep 28, 04:54 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi (back) practiced in full for a second straight day Friday, Sept. 28 and he was removed from the injury report ahead of the Week 4 game with the Tennessee Titans.

Footballguys view: Ajayi's back injury is a pain management issue and it sounds like that isn't a problem for him. The Eagles run blocking has been terrific this year, especially in the red zone, where Ajayi already has three scores in less than two games. He's an RB2 this week.

Eagles | Week 4 injury report for Philly    Fri Sep 28, 04:37 PM

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery (shoulder, illness) did not practice Friday, Sept. 28 and is listed as questionable for Week 4 against the Tennessee Titans. S Rodney McLeod (knee) and RB Darren Sproles (hamstring) also did not practice and are ruled out. RB Corey Clement (quadriceps) and LB Nathan Gerry (groin) were limited participants and are considered questionable. RB Jay Ajayi (back) and WR Jordan Matthews (hamstring) practiced in full and were removed from the report.

Footballguys view: The Eagles will probably play it safe with Jeffery, which helps Dallas Goedert's case for Week 4 snaps and targets.

Eagles | Jay Ajayi had fracture in back    Fri Sep 28, 08:15 AM

Updating previous reports, Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi (back) said he had a fracture in his back, but he is ready to return. It will be a maintenance issue.

Footballguys view: This isn't as bad as it sounds. It's likely a fracture of the transverse process, which are small bones on the outside of the spine that aren't essential to the function of the back. It will be a pain tolerance issue and one that Ajayi could be over in a few weeks.

Eagles | Jay Ajayi has full practice    Thu Sep 27, 03:29 PM

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi (back) logged a full practice Thursday, Sept. 27.

Footballguys view: Ajayi says he's dealing with a back fracture and his availability will come down to pain tolerance. We like him as a RB3 or flex option in Week 4.

Eagles | Jay Ajayi returns to practice    Thu Sep 27, 01:16 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi (back) returned to practice Thursday, Sept. 27, after missing Week 3 with a back injury.

Footballguys view: The Eagles offensive line is one of the best in the business and they eventually wore down a game Colts defense last week. The team are also giving their running backs a ton of red zone opportunities - at least seven each week. Ajayi still has value, and might even be worth a flex start if he can this weekend at Tennessee.

Eagles | Jay Ajayi, Darren Sproles likely back Week 4    Mon Sep 24, 12:28 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RBs Jay Ajayi (back) and Darren Sproles (hamstring) are expected to play in Week 4 versus the Tennessee Titans.

Footballguys view: Good news for the Eagles backfield. Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement were the team's leading rushers on Sunday against the Colts with 56 rushing yards each. If Ajayi is in the game, he should be the lead back for the Eagles. Fantasy GMs are familiar with this backfield getting split up, so look at Ajayi as more of a low-end RB2 or flex play when he returns.

The Philadelphia Eagles have declared WR Alshon Jeffery, RB Darren Sproles, RB Jay Ajayi, OT Matt Pryor, QB Nate Sudfeld, OG Chance Warmack and OT Jordan Mailata inactive for Week 3.

Updating previous reports, Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi (back) and Darren Sproles (hamstring) were ruled out Friday, Sept. 21, for the Week 3 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Footballguys view: Corey Clement is also questionable, but expected to play and the best play in this backfield against the Colts. Practice squad call-up Josh Adams will get work running between the tackles and Wendell Smallwood should also see increased snaps this week.

Eagles | Jay Ajayi sidelined again    Thu Sep 20, 01:20 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi (back) was not at practice Thursday, Sept. 20.

Eagles | No practice for Jay Ajayi    Wed Sep 19, 01:49 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi (back) was not able to practice Wednesday, Sept. 19, and is considered day-to-day.

Footballguys view: Watch to see if Ajayi can practice later in the week. If he doesn't play against the Colts on Sunday, the Eagles would turn to Corey Clement as their primary back. If that's the case, Clement makes for a great DFS play in Week 3...and for season-long Fantasy GMs we'd see him as a flex play.

Eagles | Jay Ajayi day to day    Wed Sep 19, 10:54 AM

Updating previous reports, Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi (back) is day to day.

Eagles | Jay Ajayi may not play    Tue Sep 18, 02:58 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi (back) has a good chance of being sidelined in Week 3, according to offensive coordinator Mike Groh.

Footballguys view: As much as Fantasy GMs want him to, it just doesn't seem like Ajayi is built to play 16 games as the featured back for the Eagles. It always seems to be something with Ajayi, and now he's bothered by a back injury. Corey Clement should be added via the waiver wire (if he's out there) due to the large role he'd have against the Colts in Week 3 if Ajayi doesn't play.

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi (back) was taken to the lockerroom with a back injury following the team's first offensive series during the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Sept. 16, and is listed as questionable to return.

Footballguys view: Corey Clement will handle the load for the Eagles with Wendell Smallwood doing the rest. The Eagles could be signing a running back next week. Clement could be a great play against the Colts next week.

Eagles | More Jay Ajayi moving forward?    Fri Sep 7, 01:44 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi was limited to nine snaps in the first half in a Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons before getting 19 snaps in the second half. Head coach Doug Pederson explained Friday, Sept. 7, that Ajayi was being eased in action after being limited by a lower-body injury over the last couple of weeks.'I wanted to make sure because Jay was nursing a little bit of a lower body injury for a couple weeks, and just wanted to make sure he was good and get him into the flow of the game. ... He did a nice job. Obviously, the two touchdown rushes and then the two-point conversion. It was encouraging to see. I think not only going forward, but him, health-wise, coming out of the game was really good. Moving forward, we'll see him more,' Pederson said.

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi ran the ball 15 times for 62 yards and two touchdowns on Thursday, Sept. 6, against the Atlanta Falcons. Ajayi also ran for a two-point conversion.

Footballguys view: Ajayi was barely involved in the first half, but he came on in the second half to finish two drives with scores. His usage should go up. Right now Ajayi is looking like a good use of a fourth round pick.

Eagles | Jay Ajayi will play    Wed Sep 5, 01:20 PM

Philadelphia Eagles RB Jay Ajayi (foot) was not listed on the Eagles' status report Wednesday, Sept. 5, and will play in Week 1.

Footballguys view: Ajayi was trending this way with his practice participation and now it's officially official. He's set to be the lead back for the Eagles, but Fantasy GMs know that he's going to work in a RBBC. This week against the Falcons, Ajayi can be relied on as a low-end RB2 in PPR leagues.
