Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Jets QB Erik Ainge reported for the team's offseason program a few days ago after missing a majority of the program because of a personal reason.
| Our view: Erik Ainge has gone from a potential QB of the future, to just a questionable future in New York. He did not impress last year in training camp, and was outplayed by now Cleveland Brown Brett Ratliff. Mark Sanchez will be busy battling Kellen Clemens for the starting job, so it appears Ainge could start the season as the #3 QB. However, he had better start playing better or the Jets could go with Chris Pizotti as their emergency QB. |

Dave Hutchinson, of the Newark Star-Ledger, reports New York Jets QB Erik Ainge was not present for the start of the team's voluntary minicamp Thursday, April 16. Head coach Rex Ryan said Ainge was not there because of personal reasons and is expected to join the team later.

Jane McManus, of the Journal News, reports New York Jets QB Erik Ainge has not been at the team's workouts for the last two weeks. Ainge was at the facility on March 26, the first time the media were allowed back to talk to players. For the last two weeks, however, he has not been in the locker room for that availability, and several teammates said they had not seen him at the facility in at least a week. Ainge's agent, James Sexton, did not return calls seeking comment on the situation. The Jets would only say that the sessions are voluntary.
