THE REAL MCCOY
Since becoming the Eagles' starter in 2010, LeSean McCoy has established himself as one of the best fantasy producers at his position. While names like Adrian Peterson, Jamaal Charles, Ray Rice and Matt Forte may evoke equally impressive thoughts, McCoy has outproduced them all on a fantasy points-per-game basis. In fact, only the great Arian Foster has outperformed McCoy over the last four seasons:

One of the main reasons McCoy has been so productive is his multi-dimensional skill set.
2010-2013 Achievements
- 4,836 rushing yards (1st among RBs)
- 1,819 receiving yards (4th among RBs)
- 35 rushing touchdowns (5th among RBs)
- 10 receiving touchdowns (3rd among RBs)
- 4.9 yards per rush (6th among RBs with 300+ carries)
- 7.8 yards per reception (10th among RBs with 150+ receptions)
- 994 rushing attempts (5th among RBs)
- 232 receptions (3rd among RBs)
FROM ONE GREAT SYSTEM TO ANOTHER
DOES DARREN SPROLES POSE A THREAT?
- Last year the Eagles only targeted the running backs 82 times
- McCoy received 64 of the 82 targets
- Bryce Brown and Chris Polk split the other 18 targets
- Sproles averaged 100 targets per season in New Orleans
STELLAR OFFENSIVE LINE PLAY
- LT Jason Peters "was unstoppable in run blocking and a dancing bear in pass protection."
- LG Evan Mathis "is coming off an outstanding season, especially in run blocking."
- C Jason Kelce "has rounded into one of the better centers in the league."
- RG Todd Herremans is a "converted tackle and still a solid player."
- RT Lane Johnson "had an excellent rookie season," and proved he can step into the left tackle role down the road.
- OL Allen Barbre is the first man off the bench and a "capable starter" at any position other than center.
POSITIVES
- McCoy is multi-faceted, ranking at or near the league leaders as both a runner and receiver
- Chip Kelly's offense continues to make McCoy the focal point
- The Eagles field an elite offensive line
NEGATIVES
- Darren Sproles seems a sure bet to eat into McCoy's receiving targets -- although the magnitude of his impact is unclear
- RT Lane Johnson is suspended for the first four games
FINAL THOUGHTS
LeSean McCoy is in his prime, plays for a team that loves to run the ball, and has a coaching staff that intends to make him the focal point of the offense. It's hard not to like that situation, and when you combine a stellar opportunity with world-class ability in all facets of the game, it's easy to understand why McCoy is the 1st or 2nd player off the board in most drafts. I would gladly roster McCoy as the top pick even if his receiving tally takes a bit of a hit with Sproles' addition. He's an easy top 3 pick in any format.

THOUGHTS FROM AROUND THE WEB
Our own Sigmund Bloom believes McCoy should be the 1st or 2nd pick in drafts this year:
Even if they cut back on his carries/receptions, he's still one of the most explosive backs in the league, in one of the best running games in the league, behind one of the best lines in the league. He'll still get 20+ touches a game and be set up for a ton of touchdown opportunities. He is the perfect back for the Chip Kelly system and hitting his prime at a young age 26 on the opening day of the season.
Our own Jeff Pasquino sees no reason to worry that the new roster additions will eat into McCoy's fantasy value:
As for those who are saying that McCoy may not finish in the Top 3 - I highly doubt that. As long as he stays healthy, the Eagles' offense will run through McCoy even more this year. Philadelphia wants to go even faster on offense this year, which means more plays and snaps overall. Even if Chip Kelly gives McCoy a break by using Darren Sproles or even Chris Polk for a series, McCoy will push 2,000 total yards again this year even with just 300-350 touches. If Charles goes #1 in my draft and I get the chance to take McCoy at 1.02, that's my pick.
