With the trade deadline in most leagues just days away it's time for another installment of draft to trade. While it's impossible to offer advice for every team without knowing who they have or what they need, I'm going to at least provide some names for you to target, and some names for you to look to shop. There are three categories below and I need to explain them first. Just Getting In lists players that will help you weeks 12-14. These are predominantly for teams sitting on the playoff bubble that need a push to sneak into the playoffs. In It To Win It lists players with the best match ups weeks 14-17 and are predominantly for teams that have more or less secured a playoff spot and are just trying to get their playoff rosters set. Finally. Trade Chips are players whose values are currently higher than what I expect their production will be the remainder of the season. Of course, if you have any individual trade questions you can always email them to me at the address below or ask me on Twitter @heathcummingssr.
Just Getting In
Eli Manning- Manning has been a source of great frustration for his owners and should either be on the trade block or the waiver wire. Assuming you're in a deep league and he's on the trade block, you just may want to kick the tires. Manning gets the Cowboys, Redskins, and Chargers in the next three weeks. That lineup of opponents could help a lot of teams into the playoffs.
Matt Forte- Forte's price is probably really high, but it isn't as high as his potential over the next three weeks. The Rams, Vikings and Cowboys are three of the league's worst against the run. Forte has been a stud this year, and he may even be better over the next three weeks. The best part is that he's a major threat in the passing game, so teams can't just take him out of the equation by stacking the box.
Andre Brown- Must win the next two weeks? Brown may be your answer. Like we mentioned above, the Cowboys and Redskins are next on the slate and Brown is a rare workhorse back in New York right now. Maybe his owner was discouraged because he didn't score a touchdown last week, maybe he doesn't believe Brown can stay healthy. Either way, it's time to make an offer now.
Jordy Nelson- There was some concern that Nelson would disappear without Aaron Rodgers, but those doubts were quelled last week when he broke the century mark. Still, Nelson hasn't scored a touchdown since week eight, so you may be able to get him at a discount. As a bonus, Nelson doesn't face a truly difficult matchup until week 17.
Dwayne Bowe- Like Manning, Bowe should still be dirt cheap, even after his week 11 touchdown. The Chiefs schedule features questionable defenses and teams that should be able to score enough to keep them passing. Bowe has been a fine option when the Chiefs have been forced to go to the air, and that should definitely be the case against San Diego and Denver.
Coby Fleener- Fleener actually belongs in both categories. The hope here is that you can catch an owner trying to "sell high" after Fleener's performance last Thursday night. What that owner may not realize is that Fleener figures to be a borderline top 5 option the rest of the year. He's a great option at tight end that should see double digit targets the rest of the year.
In it to Win It
Nick Foles- You're only going to pull this off if someone has Foles on their bench behind a truly elite QB1. The thing is, with Foles playoff schedule he may be the most elite of all the fantasy playoff quarterbacks. Foles has been far away the #1 fantasy quarterback the past three weeks, do we really think the Lions, Vikings, Bears or Cowboys are going to change that?
Eddie Lacy- Lacy has struggled the past two weeks without a real threat in the passing game, but that should change when Aaron Rodgers returns. It also doesn't hurt that Lacy has four straight below average run defenses to finish out the year. It's been a bit of an up and down year for Lacy, but he should finish the year on a high note.
LeSean McCoy- Is the McCoy owner in your league still fighting for a playoff spot? Have you already locked up a spot? If so, take advantage of that owner's weakness and offer him a week 12 band aid by trading your RB1 for McCoy. The defenses the Eagles face in the fantasy playoffs aren't just bad against the pass, they stink against the run too.
Andre Johnson- Case Keenum is back at starting quarterback and that's great news for Johnson. What is even better news is that he gets the Jaguars, Broncos, Colts, and Titans in the fantasy playoffs. Johnson has been unstoppable with Keenum under center, and those defenses haven't stopped anyone anyway.
Victor Cruz- For the most part you can just read the Eli Manning section above. Cruz hasn't scored a touchdown in six weeks despite averaging nine targets per game. That has regression alert written all over it and the porous pass defenses he'll face in the playoffs will be all too accommodating. In Cruz you should get an elite wide receiver at a discount.
Delanie Walker- Walker is a guy that's been much better than anyone expected, but I don't hear him getting the credit he deserves. He's been a top six tight end when Ryan Fitzpatrick has been under center and he faces three of the worst defenses against tight ends in the last three weeks of the year. Only the elite tight ends are better bets to lead your team to a fantasy championship.
Trade Chips
Russell Wilson- Wilson has been outstanding lately, but he's coming off of his two best matchups of the year. He doesn't have one favorable matchup left on the schedule, and plenty of really bad ones. As an added benefit, many think that Percy Harvin enhances Wilson's value which means you may really be able to get a haul for him. Make the move.
Ray Rice- Admittedly you may not be able to get much for Rice, but if you're ever going to trade him now's the time. There are legitimately some people that think he's back, even though his performance came against a Bears team that has struggled to tackle all season. He'll crash back to earth in week 12 and barely be startable the rest of the year.
Ryan Mathews- Mathews 100 yard performance against the Dolphins drew plenty of attention but he's still seriously hampered by the presence of Danny Woodhead. There's barely room for one running back against the schedule the Chargers having coming up, but there's no room at all for two. If anyone thinks Mathews is finally ready to deliver on the potential he's promised for so long, make a move.
Chris Johnson- I've said all year long that Johnson was going to be better in the second half than he was in the first, if only because of his schedule. That being said, there's no way he's going to be as good as he's been the last three weeks. Move Johnson now if you can get find someone that believes he's going to continue to perform like he has the past three weeks.
Antonio Brown- Brown has been a clear-cut WR1 this year, and it's hard to get rid of those, but his remaining schedule makes it easier. Brown faces only one good matchup the rest of the year and four very bad ones. The Steelers have been hit and miss this year, and everything points to them having a hard time throwing the ball down the stretch.
Vernon Davis- Michael Crabtree is coming back, the schedule is getting tough, and Colin Kaepernick can't seem to find his groove at quarterback. Need more motivation to deal Davis? There have been so many tight ends to emerge this year there's a decent chance you can replace him on the waiver wire without losing much in the playoffs.
