It was a bit of a dud in Week 5 for the FanDuel Bargain Buys with Mike Glennon and Khiry Robinson as the only offensive players than shined. Shayne Graham finally came through at kicker and the Lions defense was strong, but it wasn't enough to get us to our 60% target. If you've read this column long enough you know that two down weeks in a row is rare, so let's get right to Week 6. Once again we're using the projections of David Dodds for our Value Play selection and my personal research for the Bargain Buys. You clearly don't want to fill out a roster full of these guys, but once you've selected the studs you want, fill your roster with a couple of these players for profit.
Quarterback
Value Play
Teddy Bridgewater ($5900) vs. Detroit- Bridgewater was impressive in his first two games and now gets a Lions secondary that is very suspect. They've actually been decent against the pass because of their pass rush but Bridgewater has the agility to avoid that. As one of the cheaper options at quarterback he has the potential to be one of the best values with even a decent game.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Mike Glennon ($6400) vs. Baltimore- Glennon is one of two players that are included in both the FanDuel and the DraftKings articles. It's still hard to figure how Lovie Smith started Josh McCown over Glennon for three weeks, but Glennon is the man in Tampa Bay now. As a rule, when he's played he's been productive and if he gets Mike Evans this week he could be a monster against a defense that hasn't been great against the pass.
Running Back
Value Play
Bishop Sankey ($5600) vs. Jacksonville- Sankey is the other dual play this week against a Jaguars team that isn't very good at anything. With Shonn Greene out this will be Sankey's first real chance to carry the load. While he hasn't been impressive so far in his rookie year, this kind of volume against this kind of match up can't be overlooked.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Justin Forsett ($6300) vs. Tampa Bay- Forsett has quietly been one of the most productive backs in the league through five weeks. He's scored at least 12 PPR fantasy points in every game but one and is the Ravens primary option in the passing game out of the backfield. The game script should set up well for a lot of Baltimore running, which should mean a chunk of production for Forsett.
Wide Receiver
Value Play
Mohamed Sanu ($6000) vs. Carolina- With A.J. Green nursing a toe injury, Sanu heads into this one as the team's number one option at wide receiver. All of sudden Andy Dalton's weapons don't look very deep which probably means a bunch of targets for Sanu against a pass defense that is simply not very good. Even with Green healthy Sanu has been a pleasant surprise, without him Sanu may be the play of the week.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Justin Hunter ($5900) vs. Jacksonville- Hunter played in nearly all of the Titans offensive plays last week and seems to have finally earned the trust of his coaches. I wouldn't team him with Sankey, but if you decide to fade Sankey, Hunter is a cheap big-play option at receiver. He's always had the talent to be a WR1, if the Titans start treating him like one his price tag is going to take off.
Tight End
Value Play
Heath Miller ($5000) vs. Cleveland- Miller has struggled a little bit early this year, and will always be reliant on red zone touches to be productive. With the way LeVeon Bell slashed this defense in Week 1 I anticipate a major focus on the running game from Cleveland. In the red zone this could lead to Miller wide open off play action, and we know how much Roethlisberger loves to look for him there. Miller's a risky play because of his reliance on the score but I expect that risk will pay off this weekend.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Zach Ertz ($5200) vs. New York Giants- I'm just going to keep betting on Ertz's talent until Chip Kelly decides to acknowledge it. This game has all the makings of a shootout with both teams moving up and down the field with ease. Ertz should at the least get a couple of red zone looks, but hopefully this is the week that Kelly makes an effort to get the ball into one of his most talented playmaker's hands.
Kicker
Robbie Gould ($4600) vs. Atlanta- We love high scoring games and we love domes when it comes to kickers and Gould gets both in this one. The only real concern I have is that Atlanta can't keep Chicago out of the end zone which results in five or six extra points. All things considered that isn't a terrible floor.
Defense
Green Bay ($4800) vs. Miami- There aren't a lot of cheap defenses I like this week on FanDuel so I'll go with the big play ability of the Packers. Ryan Tannehill isn't exactly known for being a great protector of the football, so let's hope the Packers can take one of those turnovers to the house.
