With several good/great weeks piling up, we were due for a stinker, and that's kind of what we got in Week 10 with the FanDuel Bargain Buys. Of course, when your stinker includes Josh McCown (QB4) and Justin Forsett (RB3), it certainly wasn't all terrible. Tight end was a wasteland and Davante Adams busted, but other than that no play killed you. The heavy bye weeks are over, which gives us a lot more value to choose from. Let's jump straight into Week 11 and start hunting for bargains. Once again we're using the projections of David Dodds for our Value Play selection and my personal research for the Bargain Buys. You clearly don't want to fill out a roster full of these guys, but once you've selected the studs you want, fill your roster with a couple of these players for profit.
Quarterback
Value Play
Shaun Hill ($5000) vs. Denver- Hill has moved back into the starting lineup over Austin Davis and gets an interesting matchup in Week 11. The Broncos are actually the best on the league from a Y/A standpoint, at 6.0. But because teams are throwing the ball 43 times per game against them, they still give up nearly 250 yards per game through the air. For that reason, Hill is much like Derek Carr was last week, a garbage time special. His volume should give him a relatively safe floor with a chance to hit big value in the 4th quarter.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Drew Stanton ($5900) vs. Detroit- Stanton is another new starter this week, taking over for the injured Carson Palmer. Stanton isn't as good a pure passer as Palmer but his mobility against Detroit's front seven will certainly be a positive. The Lions defense has been very good this year, but if they have a weakness it is their secondary. If Stanton's mobility can buy him a little extra time his receivers should be able to get open against this unit. The Cardinals are going to struggle to run the ball against Detroit, which should lead to more attempts for Stanton as well.
Running Back
Value Play
Bishop Sankey ($5300) vs. Pittsburgh- The Steelers defense has been hot and cold this year, but when you consider the level of competition they've faced they've been unimpressive at best. Sankey hasn't exactly set the world on fire, but his usage is up as late, especially in the passing game. With Sankey's usage, the touchdowns are coming, even if it is rare for the Titans to move into the red zone. At this price he's a good gamble.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Tre Mason ($5300) vs. Denver- Mason has slipped under the radar a little since his breakout performance against Seattle, largely because he's faced three stout run defenses. While the Broncos aren't a pushover, Mason's big play ability still presents a solid opportunity for value. His four catches against Arizona also provide a nice little boost for his floor if that translates in Week 11.
Wide Receiver
Value Play
Malcom Floyd ($5400) vs. Oakland- Floyd has only had 1 game under 10 PPR fantasy points since Week 5. For a player with big play ability, he's actually been really consistent since the first month of the season. The Raiders present a good match up for just about anyone, especially Floyd coming off of a bye. The Chargers struggled heading into their bye and we have every reason to expect them to come out firing on all cylinders in Week 11.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
James Jones ($5300) vs. San Diego- In a week full of questionable weather it isn't all that surprising that we're targeting two receivers in sunny California. Speaking of targets, Jones had 12 of them last week and now gets a banged up and depleted Chargers secondary. You can almost always count on the Raiders being in a position where they have to throw the ball a lot, considering their offensive line can't get any push in the running game. Jones should be a solid bet for 2x value with an opportunity for much more.
Tight End
Value Play
Larry Donnell ($5200) vs. San Francisco- As bad as tight ends produced last week it's nice to turn back to Donnell in Week 11. Donnell had a bit of a lull in the beginning of the year, but he's bounced back nicely in his last three games. The 49ers are not a good match up for tight ends, but considering how unreliable Rueben Randle has been Donnell is now the second most trustworthy option in the Giants passing attack. The game script should dictate plenty of targets for Donnell, and hopefully a red zone look or two.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Brent Celek ($4500) vs. Green Bay- There's been plenty of talk about the disappointment of Zach Ertz this year, and his loss of opportunities lately. Last week Celek snatched some of those opportunities up with 5 catches for 116 yards. It's generally a bad idea to chase points, but there are factors that work in Celek's favor. One of the biggest is the weather. This is supposed to be a frigid affair that will not lend itself to downfield passing. Celek should be in to run block a lot, but he should also see some opportunities on play action.
Kicker
Nick Novak ($4500) vs. Oakland- I said it last week and I'll say it again. Heavy favorite against a defense that gives up a ton of points equals a great match up for a kicker. What helps Novak even more is that so many games will be played in poor weather this week. Play it safe with Novak and hope the Raiders defense can bear down in the red zone and give him several three point opportunities.
Defense
New Orleans Saints ($4700) vs. Cincinnati- The Saints were mediocre last week, but I'm sticking with them again this week. Andy Dalton is having a terrible time running an injury-depleted offense with more turnovers than touchdowns so far this year. The Saints like to take risks on defense and Dalton is not good at adjusting to pressure.
