Week 10 was what has turned into an average week for us, with 60% of our plays hitting value. The Texans defense (TD1) and Jeremy Hill (RB2) were the stars of the week, and if you played those two you likely had a pretty good week. Our bombs were our receivers with Rueben Randle and James Jones laying eggs. Let's get straight to Week 10. Once again we're using the projections of David Dodds for our Value Play selection and my personal research for the Bargain Buys. You clearly don't want to fill out a roster full of these guys, but once you've selected the studs you want, fill your roster with a couple of these players for profit.
Quarterback
Value Play
Josh McCown ($5700) vs. Atlanta- Whether I agree with Lovie Smith's decision to bench Mike Glennon for Josh McCown is irrelevant here. All that matters is that McCown is very cheap and the Falcons defense is very bad. McCown gets the benefit of playing with an improved Mike Evans, even if Vincent Jackson may be less than interested. The veteran quarterback should be very motivated in what is likely his last shot to latch on to a starting job.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Zach Mettenberger ($6100) vs. Baltimore- This is not just about what Ben Roethlisberger did to this defense last week, but the fact that an already suspect Ravens secondary is playing without their best player doesn't hurt at all. The fact is Mettenberger threw for 2 scores and nearly 300 yards against the Texans in Week 8 and had a bye week to improve. On the other hand, the Ravens defense is beat up and playing on somewhat of a short week.
Running Back
Value Play
Justin Forsett ($6500) vs. Tennessee- I touched on a lot of the reasons we love Forsett in the DraftKings article, but I may have glossed over how bad this Titans run defense is. They've given up 134 yards per game and exactly 1 rushing touchdown per game. I expect the Ravens to jump to an early lead in this one and wouldn't be surprised if Forsett busted a long run in the second half.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Fred Jackson ($6500) vs. Kansas City- You have to make sure Jackson is playing, but all signs point towards that being the case. The Chiefs are a particularly terrible match up for running backs, and they haven't given up a touchdown on the ground yet this year. That screams regression to me, and I expect this Bills offense to be revitalized by the early return of Jackson.
Wide Receiver
Value Play
Roddy White ($6600) vs. Tampa Bay- In a trash matchup between two teams circling the drains, there are plenty of fantasy options. White at his price is absolutely one of them. He's been banged up once again, but coming off a week of rest against this defense should be a sure recipe for getting healthy. White missed the first match up against the Bucs but should make a big impact on this one.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Davante Adams ($5200) vs. Chicago- Adams has been just inconsistent enough to stay under the radar amongst what looks like one of the best rookie classes of wide receivers. This week he gets a match up against a Bears secondary that is beaten, battered, and just not that good. In two of his last three starts Adams has topped 6 catches and 70 yards, in his other he scored a touchdown.
Tight End
Value Play
Owen Daniels ($5400) vs. Tennessee- Daniels is the DFS play on almost every site this week. He has the perfect combination of low price, a poor defense, and expected targets. The only reason I can see not playing Daniel is if you're stacking your quarterback and tight end, because otherwise you're likely costing yourself value.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Scott Chandler ($5000) vs. Kansas City- There aren't a lot of great cheap tight end options on FanDuel, but Chandler is a sneaky one. Since Kyle Orton took over at quarterback Chandler has seen an uptick in targets and production. In his last three games he has both a 100 yard game and a touchdown. He had neither in his first five games.
Kicker
Brandon McManus ($4700) vs. Oakland- Picking kickers in DFS is very much a crapshoot, but there are a couple of good rules. Pick a favorite and pick a team that you think is going to score a bunch of points. McManus and the Broncos fit in both categories, and as a bonus he's also very cheap.
Defense
New Orleans Saints ($4600) vs. San Francisco- The Saints defense is nothing to write home about. That being said, they get an offensive line that is struggling at home in the dome. I don't think they'll shut this 49ers offense down, but I do believe they offer the best big play ability out of the cheap options.
