Week 6 was a bit of a bounce back with Mike Glennon again being solid and Mohamed Sanu providing the cheat code performance, but we're vowing to do better in Week 7. For the year we're still hovering around 55%, and while that might be profitable, it's below the standard we've set in the past. Let get right to Week 7. Once again we're using the projections of David Dodds for our Value Play selection and my personal research for the Bargain Buys. You clearly don't want to fill out a roster full of these guys, but once you've selected the studs you want, fill your roster with a couple of these players for profit.
Quarterback
Value Play
Teddy Bridgewater ($5700) vs. Buffalo- Bridgewater was disappointing in his return last week, but his price and his upside make him a good value against the Bills in Week 7. This isn't a cash game play, or even a GPP play for the feint at heart. This is your swing-for-the-fences, win the big GPP play if he hits. Bridgewater's athleticism, and the fact that he'll be chasing the scoreboard, gives him more upside than anyone else at this price.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Brian Hoyer ($6400) vs. Jacksonville- Hoyer has yet to have a game with less than 14 fantasy points, which isn't a bad floor for one of the cheapest starting quarterbacks on the board. This week he gets a Jacksonville team that is pretty much bad at everything. It's possible the Browns will jump to an early lead and run the ball 30 times, but if they do it's likely a couple of those scores come via Hoyer passes. If nothing else, give the man some love for saving us from the ESPN onslaught of asking when a certain rookie quarterback will start.
Running Back
Value Play
Justin Forsett ($6200) vs. Atlanta- Forsett has quietly been a RB1 in 2014 and the Falcons have not-so-quietly been not very good defensively. The downside to Forsett is that Bernard Pierce could vulture a high percentage of the carries and the red zone work. The plus side is that Forsett is the only back suitable to work in the passing game and has been by far the best performer this year.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Isaiah Crowell ($5300) vs. Jacksonville- Speaking of the best performer, Crowell is yet another contrarian play with a huge upside. In his first 5 games in the NFL he's averaged 5.4 yards per carry and scored 4 touchdowns. That would lead to a much larger price tag if Ben Tate wasn't getting a majority of the carries. If you're worried that Hoyer's production will be tempered by a blowout then Crowell is probably going to be the guy racking up yards on the ground in the second half. Play one of these guys, but not both.
Wide Receiver
Value Play
Allen Robinson ($5600) vs. Cleveland- A little bit of the luster has been taken off Robinson with the return of Cecil Shorts, but against the Browns that may be a positive. If Joe Haden covers Shorts primarily, Robinson could have a field day. Even if he does have Haden on him, garbage time should be plentiful, leaving Robinson plenty of time to hook up with Blake Bortles for his first NFL touchdown.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Jermaine Kearse ($5000) vs. St. Louis- You might have heard, but the Seahawks just traded Percy Harvin to the Jets. Kearse was third on the team in targets with Harvin on the roster, so one could fairly safely assume that he'll now be second. The Rams secondary is playing an all or nothing style that seems to be more nothing than all lately. While Seattle won't pass often, Kearse is most likely to land a big play against a secondary that isn't averse to allowing them.
Tight End
Value Play
Jordan Reed ($5400) vs. Tennessee- Reed is this week's talented player coming off an injury that is just waiting for a breakout. When he's been healthy in his career he's been a certifiable TE1 and all indications are that he's a full go for Week 7. Reed is an elite talent that struggles to stay healthy, but he's absolutely a good play this week. He's the only guy in this price range that could win you your league.
FanDuel Bargain Buy
Heath Miller ($4900) vs. Houston- With FanDuel's scoring system, touchdown dependent tight ends like Miller are a little bit more tolerable than they are on DraftKings. The Texans game plan should be to do whatever they can to contain Antonio Brown, and that should leave Miller open over the middle. He's always a hit-or-miss player, but this week against this defense feels like a good opportunity.
Kicker
Brandon McManus ($4900) vs. San Francisco- This is a classic matchup of a great offense against a great defense and that often means a lot of stalled drives in field goal range. I fully expect the Broncos to be able to move the ball but I'm not so sure they'll be able to punch it for six. I like McManus to see 2-3 field goal opportunities with a couple of extra points for good measure.
Defense
Dallas Cowboys ($4600) vs. New York Giants- Eli Manning showed us last week that he's not totally immune to the stinker after his fast start, and this Cowboys has been much more opportunistic than anyone expect. This feels like a swing for the fences type play with considerable downside, but that's what you get when you're looking for a bargain defense.
