The funny thing about Week 5 is that we had a ton of 3.5-4x value plays but our best play (Austin Davis) and our worst (Blake Bortles) were both at quarterback. You also had to be really happy with the performance you got out of Khiry Robinson, even if the Saints defense continued to be awful. On the week we were at 67%, which puts us right at 60% for the year. This week the pricing on DraftKings is much sharper, making it that much more important to find the right bargains. The Value Play at each position is based off of the projections of David Dodds, while the Bargain Buy is my personal recommendation. You don't want a roster full of these guys, but using 1-2 of them could help you win your GPP.
Quarterback
Value Play
Logan Thomas ($5400) vs. Washington- Thomas looks like the most likely starter in Arizona this week with Carson Palmer still battling nerve issues and Drew Stanton still unable to pass concussion protocol. A rookie in his first start is always a dangerous proposition but with these weapons and against this defense he should be safe. He did not look overwhelmed in relief of Stanton last week and should be even better with a week's worth of practice under his belt.
Bargain Buy
Mike Glennon ($5900) vs. Baltimore- In Glennon's 2 starts he's thrown for 551 yards and 4 scores. Both of those starts came against defenses that are giving up less than the 269 yards that the Ravens allow through the air. This may be the best match up that Glennon has faced, and his price is still very reasonable despite his recent success. Glennon is a safe bet for 2.5 value with a good shot at much, much more.
Running Back
Value Play
Bishop Sankey ($3500) vs. Jacksonville- To say Sankey has had an uninspired start to his NFL career would be an understatement, but things are falling perfectly into place in Week 6. Shonn Greene is likely out, meaning Sankey and Dexter McCluster will be left to carry the load against the Jaguars. This is expected to be a rainy mess of a game between the 1-4 Titans and the worst team in the league through five games. It will be a much bigger surprise if Sankey doesn't meet value.
Bargain Buy
Ronnie Hillman ($3000) vs. New York Jets- An injury to Montee Ball means Hillman will carry the load against the defense that just made Branden Oliver look like a superstar. This play is risky because last week notwithstanding the Jets have been outstanding against the run. Still, at a minimum salary, Hillman's volume alone makes him a great play. If he does break a long run, he'll have a huge impact on GPPs.
Wide Receiver
Value Play
Andre Holmes ($3000) vs. San Diego- Holmes is the king of garbage time and there should be plenty of that Sunday against the Chargers. When the Raiders decide to throw the ball downfield, Holmes is generally the target. He is not a reliable producer but he's exactly the kind of deep ball threat that can hit value on one play. Holmes is definitely more of a GPP lottery ticket than a cash game play.
Bargain Buy
Allen Robinson ($3700) vs. Tennessee- It's become clear that Robinson is Blake Bortles favorite target since he took over as the starting quarterback. Robinson has 28 targets in the last three weeks and has been a solid WR3 over that timeframe....without scoring a touchdown. I'd bet on Robinson getting his first touchdown of the year this week, and providing excellent value for his owners.
Tight End
Value Play
Eric Ebron ($3000) vs. Minnesota- Ebron has had an up and down start to his rookie year, but he's best option by far for the minimum in Week 6. Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush are likely out, which greatly diminishes Matt Stafford's weapons. There's really no reason not to throw a few more balls Ebron's way and see what he can do with them.
Bargain Buy
Larry Donnell ($3500) vs. Philadelphia- Donnell in what should be a very high scoring game at this price tag is almost robbery. Donnell is third on the team in targets and has scored more than 2 fantasy points per target. He's the man in the red zone and the Eagles are still banged up at linebacker. If you aren't starting Rob Gronkowski or Martellus Bennett then save money with Donnell.
Defense
Tennessee ($2900) vs. Jacksonville- Playing anyone against the Jaguars has been a good idea, especially when they're one of the cheapest defenses on the board. The fact that there's a 60% chance of a downpour makes this play even better. The Titans defense makes a nice stack with Sankey because if he's successful it will keep the Jaguars offense off the field.
