The Derek Carr injury and Donald Brown disaster haunted our Week 4 picks, but the week was saved by Travis Kelce (TE3) and Dwayne Allen (TE8). Teddy Bridgwater and the Bills defense also turned in decent performances, but there's definitely room for growth in Week 5. DraftKings is ripe with value this week because of their Millionaire Maker event so the challenge isn't so much finding a good value as finding the right value. The Value Play at each position is based off of the projections of David Dodds, while the Bargain Buy is my personal recommendation. You don't want a roster full of these guys, but using 1-2 of them could help you win your GPP.
Quarterback
Value Play
Blake Bortles ($5200) vs. Pittsburgh- Bortles has thrown for at least 220 yards and at least 1 touchdown in each of his first 2 NFL games. Just a little bit more production is all you need for good value here and he's probably not going to be highly owned. Bortles is a good contrarian play, especially if you stack him with a receiver mentioned later in the article. This Steelers defense is decent but not good enough to shy away from.
Bargain Buy
Austin Davis ($5600) vs. Philadelphia- Davis is one of my favorite plays of the week in what should be a high scoring affair against the Eagles. Davis has won the job outright from Shaun Hill, which isn't a huge endorsement but it's something. The Eagles have struggled against the pass this year and have already given up 10 scores through the air. Take Davis and one of his cheap receivers and stack your lineups at other positions.
Running Back
Value Play
Khiry Robinson ($3000) vs. Tampa Bay- Robinson is one of two players we like so much that we've listed them in both Bargain Buys articles. Like the other (Travis Kelce) he'll probably be highly owned in GPPs by I don't think you can afford to fade Robinson at this cost. Last week he got 10 touches and scored 12.5 PPR fantasy points. He figures to get a lot more against the Bucs.
Bargain Buy
Ahmad Bradshaw ($4000) vs. Baltimore- Baltimore has been really good against the run this year but I still like Bradshaw. He scores a lot of his points in the passing game, especially in the red zone. I just don't see the Ravens completely shutting him down in the flats and he doesn't need much production to meet value at this cost. His worst week so far this year still produced 13.2 points.
Wide Receiver
Value Play
Allen Robinson ($3000) vs. Pittsburgh- Robinson is the receiver we suggest using in a Jaguars stack. He has 16 catches for 192 yards on 23 targets in his last 3 games and clearly has a connection with Bortles. The Steelers got torched by Mike Evans last week before he was injured and then gave up the game winning touchdown to Vincent Jackson. Expect Robinson to see 8+ targets and score his first touchdown of the year.
Bargain Buy
Malcom Floyd ($3000) vs. New York Jets- Floyd has averaged more than 13 points per week in games that didn't come against the Seattle Seahawks this year. If you're worried about having too many highly owned players in your GPPs he's also a really good under the radar play. A lot of people forgot about Floyd after his extended absence and he hasn't had the type of monster game that would wake them up...yet.
Tight End
Value Play
Travis Kelce ($3000) vs. San Francisco- Kelce is the other dually suggested player this week and may be the highest owned player in the Millionaire Maker. Like Robinson, it's still really hard to pass up Kelce. The Chiefs offense was dreadful before they started getting Kelce involved and now it seems like the more they use him the better he is. If you're looking hard for a reason to fade him, the 49ers are really good against tight ends.
Bargain Buy
Eric Ebron ($3000) vs. Buffalo- As far as contrarian plays go, I'd probably just spend big at tight end with Jimmy Graham or Julius Thomas. If you're intent on staying cheap and being contrarian I'd suggest Eric Ebron. Slowly but surely Ebron is proving that he's the best tight end in Detroit and Joseph Fauria is nursing a sore ankle.
Defense
New Orleans ($2500) vs. Tampa Bay- The Saints defense has underperformed terribly compared to expectations. That being said, they're in a near do-or-die game at home against one of the worst teams in the league. If this defense was ever going to snap out of their funk and produce this would be the week.
