Week 1 was a solid, if not spectacular week on the DraftKings side. Both of our quarterback selections apprroached 3x value, Donnie Avery hit 4x value, and Martellus Bennett finished as the 4th best tight end. Overall, we were just over 50%, which is a tick below the 60% we strive for. DraftKings made some interesting price adjustments for Week 2 and we'll try to exploit them in this week's article. The Value Play at each position is based off of the projections of David Dodds, while the Bargain Buy is my personal recommendation. You don't want a roster full of these guys, but using 1-2 of them could help you win your GPP.
Quarterback
Value Play
Ryan Fitzpatrick ($5000) vs. Oakland- The Oakland Raiders do not have a good secondary and Ryan Fitzpatrick has two very good receivers (and a running back that is a threat in the passing game). Arian Foster will get his in this game but the Texans should have plenty of scoring opportunities and that could lead to 2-3 short touchdowns from Fitzpatrick. At his price that's all you'd need.
Bargain Buy
Brian Hoyer ($5000) vs. New Orleans- Matt Ryan threw for 448 yard and 3 touchdowns against this defense in Week 1. I know Hoyer is no Ryan, but at his cost we'd take half of Ryan's yardage and 3 touchdowns in a second. The Browns are going into this game without their starting running back and they're going to have to throw the ball a ton to keep up. Hoyer's a solid bet for 3x value with a ceiling that's much higher this week.
Running Back
Value Play
Matt Asiata ($3,000) vs. New England- I touched on this in the FanDuel article but Asiata has a huge opportunity this week against New England. The Patriots really struggled to stop the run last week against what we believe is an inferior offensive line. If Knowhson Moreno can take advantage of this defense, we believe that Asiata can as well. David Dodds has called him the Play of the Week.
Bargain Buy
Ahmad Bradshaw ($4000) vs. Philadelphia- There are a lot of low cost backs on DraftKings this week but I like Bradshaw the best of all of them. He's still playing second fiddle to Trent Richardson, but that could change at any minute. When he's healthy, Bradshaw shows more burst and better vision. I see this game as a shootout with a lot of scoring opportunities on both sides. More than that, I see this as a game Indianapolis wins, leading to more rushes and short passes in the second half.
Wide Receiver
Value Play
Mohamed Sanu ($3400) vs. Atlanta- Sanu had a very rough week one against Baltimore but Atlanta is no Baltimore. With Tyler Eifert and Marvin Jones both out of the lineup, Andy Dalton has to throw the ball to someone besides A.J. Green. Sanu should be third in line for targets behind Green and Giovani Bernard. In a game that figures to be up and down, I'll take third in line for $3400.
Bargain Buy
Justin Hunter ($4300) vs. Dallas- Hunter and the Titans offense looked much improved against Kansas City with the young wide receiver seeing several targets down field. While the Chief secondary is not good at all, the Cowboys are every bit as bad right now. Hunter should have an excellent opportunity to get behind this secondary for at least one score.
Tight End
Value Play
Charles Clay ($3200) vs. Buffalo- The Bills struggled to contain Martellus Bennett in Week 1 and I don't suspect they'll have much more luck in Week 2 with Clay. Despite Clay's poor showing against the Patriots, he's an important part of this offense that is seriously underpriced this week. Disregard Clay's poor performances against the Bills in 2013 because these linebackers are not the same.
Bargain Buy
Jermaine Gresham ($3000) vs. New Orleans- Gresham has been written off more than once over the past two years but with Eifert on the shelf for the next couple of months he's once again the undisputed TE1 in Cincinnati. He's been outspoken recently about how the fans view him and sounds like he has something to prove against the Falcons. Much like I said with Sanu, there are plenty of targets to go around for the Bengals.
Defense
Jacksonville Jaguars ($2500) vs. Washington- Something that got lost in the Jaguars epic Week 1 collapse was that their defense actually scored pretty well in DFS formats. This week they stay in the NFC East but get a much easier match up. Turnovers and sacks should be available against this offense that just doesn't look like they've figured out who they want to be yet.
