Footballguys has partnered with FanDuel and as part of that deal, I will be penning a weekly piece that tries to cover some of the finer points on beating their contests. This article appears on Saturdays and does not include the early Thursday game.
My approach to FanDuel's Daily Games
In salary cap games where other companies are determining prices, I like to see where their thoughts differ substantially from my projections. My value chart below matches up my projections against FanDuel's prices:
Some explanation of my Excel manipulation is in order:
- Everything is sorted by position
- I have converted my projections to FanDuel Fantasy Points. These figures appear in the FP column.
- The Price column reflects FanDuel's Week 12 Price
- The Price per FP column reflects the cost per projected fantasy point (the lower the value the better).
- I have highlighted player's names (in green) that should be strong considerations for your lineups. They generally reflect the most bang for the buck at their respective positions. Players in yellow also are worth consideration when building your roster.
General Thoughts
Situations that stand out to me this week.
- Weather is starting to be a factor in games. Last week we had a tornado delay the Chicago game. As we approach December, I like choosing a lot of the players from dome games and defenses in the predicted worst weather situations. Tampa Bay, Detroit, Jacksonville, Houston, Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Arizona will all be playing indoors. No games are predicted to be super awful, but the Baltimore / NY Jets game is expected to have a HIGH of just 36 degrees with winds gusting as high as 32 mph. Both rookie QBs could struggle.
- High powered offenses Denver and New England match up this Sunday night. It will be a highly watched game, but I suspect people loading up many players in this contest might be disappointed. Only Eric Decker ($5,800), Shane Vereen ($6,200) and Rob Gronkowski ($8,200) are attractive to me at their current prices. On a similar note, I have QB Peyton Manning as the absolute worst value at QB this ($ per FP)
- Readers suggested I give them some tournament long shots that could do well this week. I rate tournament longshots as players that likely will be owned by less that 5% of the rosters. Here are some of the guys I am targeting in some of my tournaments as high-upside selections: QB Alex Smith ($6,200), QB Scott Tolzien ($6,000), WR Torrey Smith ($6,200), WR Santonio Holmes ($4,500), WR Rueben Randle ($5,300), WR Rod Streater ($5,000), TE Dallas Clark ($4,500)
