Footballguys has partnered with FanDuel and as part of that deal, I will be penning a weekly piece that tries to cover some of the finer points on beating their contests. This article will usually appear on Saturdays and not include the early Thursday games. This first release is coming early though as I will be in Vegas competing in the FFPC contests.
My approach to FanDuel's Daily Games
In salary cap games where other companies are determining prices, I like to see where their thoughts differ substantially from my projections. My value chart below matches up my projections against FanDuel's prices:
Some explanation of my Excel manipulation is in order:
- Everything is sorted by position
- I have converted my projections to FanDuel Fantasy Points. These figures appear in the FP column.
- The Price column reflects FanDuel's Week 1 Price
- The Price per FP column reflects the cost per projected fantasy point (the lower the value the better).
- I have highlighted player's names (in green) that should be strong considerations for your lineups. They generally reflect the most bang for the buck at their respective positions. Players in yellow also are worth consideration when building your roster.
General Thoughts
FanDuel prices their players based mostly on season expectations. So the first guys to consider are generally those players with a different role this week. For Example:
- QB Terrelle Pryor, Oak is expected to start this week. He is priced as a backup at $5,100.
- RB Darryl Richardson, StL will likely be in a timeshare with Isaiah Pead once Pead comes off suspension. But with rookie Zac Stacy looking lost this preseason and Pead ineligible, Richardson should be in for a big workload this week. He is a huge value at just $6,000
- RB Isaac Redman, Pit will get the carries this week as rookie LeVeon Bell gets healthy. He is dirt cheap at $4,600.
- TE Jordan Cameron, Cle should see additional work as WR Josh Gordon sits out a few weeks. He is a bargain at just $4,900
- TE Zach Sudfeld, NE is the last tight end standing in New England and is expected to have an increased role until Rob Gronkowski comes back.
- WR Golden Tate, Sea should see increased action since WR Percy Harvin is injured. He can be had at a cheap $5,100
- WR Kenbrell Thompkins, NE has been running with the first team the last month at training camp. He represents great value at just $4,500 this week while he is still way below the radar.
