Week 16 of the FanDuel Sunday Million was an odd one in the sense that the scoring was relatively lower scoring then what we have seen in previous weeks and also it was the kicker and defense positions that put up some big points making them the two positions that helped you to cash the big money. Onefify9n2 was the first place winner in the Sunday Million this week with a score of 201.10 on a team that left $1,100 worth of salary on the table.
He nailed his running back selections with DeAngelo Williams and Tim Hightower as they scored 30.30 and 30.40 FanDuel points and they both came at reasonable prices and moderate ownership rates. Williams was owned at 24.9% rate while Hightower only at 5.7% and it wasn't until later in the day that we got the news that CJ Spiller was going to be inactive for the game so that ownership probably would have been higher if others knew of the news earlier. At wide receiver he nailed it with Brandon Marshall for 27.50 points at only a 3.8% ownership rate. His other big play at WR was Allen Robinson who scored 24.10 points at a 26.7% ownership rate. Keshawn Martin was the third WR option who was priced low at $5,400 and scored a modest 10.90 points at a 1.1% ownership rate.
His team featured Will Tye at just $5,100 at the tight end position and he was his lowest scoring player as he only put up 4.3 points. At kicker he nailed it with Blair Walsh at just $4,600 for 23 points and was also one of the lucky ones to roster the Arizona Cardinals defense against the Packers and was rewarded with 33 points at a very low ownership rate of just 1.1%.
Position | Player | Salary | FanDuel Points | % Owned |
QB | Carson Palmer | $8,700 | 17.60 | 3.0% |
RB | DeAngelo Williams | $7,400 | 30.30 | 24.9% |
RB | Tim Hightower | $6,300 | 30.40 | 5.7% |
WR | Brandon Marshall | $8,300 | 27.50 | 3.8% |
WR | Allen Robinson | $8,400 | 24.10 | 26.7% |
WR | Keshawn Martin | $5,400 | 10.90 | 1.1% |
TE | Will Tye | $5,100 | 4.30 | 11.9% |
K | Blair Walsh | $4,600 | 23.00 | 9.5% |
D | Arizona Cardinals | $4,700 | 33.00 | 1.1% |
$58,900 | 201.10 |
The quarterback position this week was a lot of Blake Bortles as he had one of the nicest matchups on paper against a very bad New Orleans Saints secondary. Out of the top 10 teams 7 of them rostered Bortles while the other three had Carson Palmer, Drew Brees, and Matthew Stafford. Surprisingly the first place team was the one that had Carson Palmer and his 17.6 points.
At running back it was DeAngelo Williams and Tim Hightower that you wanted to roster and two of the top ten teams had that exact combo which was good for a combined 60.70 points. Some other RBs that were rostered in the top ten were Peterson, Powell, Gore, and Johnson. Wide receiver was highly influenced by the Jaguars and Saints game as Allen Robinson was on 7 teams, Brandin Cooks was on 5 teams and Allen Hurns was on 6 teams. If you were one of the lucky ones to stack heavy in that game you probably did ok this week. Some other WRs of note were Marshall, Hopkins, Randle and Landry and also Wallace, Baldwin, Watkins, and Martin were used.
At tight end this week it was a mirage of players that were used and no single player hit big at the position. We saw teams with Tye, Barnidge, Seferian-Jenkins, Miller, Kelce, Gronkowski and Olsen. At the kicker spot it was Blair Walsh at $4,600 that posted a remarkable 23 points and he was on 5 teams in the top 10 with Matt Prater on 4 and Catanzaro on the other. The defense spot was either Arizona or Houston for the big scores as 8 out of the top 10 had one or the other.
