Buy Low
Fred Jackson, RB, BUF - It is extremely disappointing that Jackson isn’t healthy enough to play this week, but the hope is that he’ll be ready for Week 12 and have enough in the tank to get us through the fantasy playoffs. As the primary passcatching and goal line back for a decent offense, Jackson’s upside in PPR leagues is a potential RB1. The damaged goods risk becomes a damaged good discount. Worth a shot just to honor his great career so he can retire a member of your dynasty team one day.
C.J. Anderson, RB, DEN - Anderson had far and away the best game by a Denver back not named Moreno last week, and folks are still hesitant to buy in because of John Fox. I’m not claiming that the Foxball lack of rational coaching assumption couldn’t trip us up, but the payoff might be huge if the Broncos just let Anderson take over. He sure looked like he could last week.
Michael Floyd, WR, ARI - Floyd isn’t the dud or disappointment that he seems to be right now when you look at his whole career. In fact, he is one of the few prospects at WR who has a high enough ceiling to join that elite tier, and he’s in the right offense for it. His development has gone wonderfully so far with Larry Fitzgerald by his side, and Floyd will turn 25 next week. Get in in dynasty leagues while you can.
Tony Romo, QB, Terrance Williams, WR, DAL - The Cowboys have been relying on Demarco Murray to pull the sled on offense, but with matchups coming against Philly in Weeks 13 and 15, Chicago Week 14 and Indianapolis Week 16. Those are all games against weak defenses and/or offenses that could force shootouts. Romo is a sneaky good QB1 down the stretch. Williams was a hot dynasty commodity coming into the year, but a more conservative offense has kept his numbers down. He’s still a good long term hold and he might be a nice upside flex in deeper leagues down the stretch.
Joique Bell, Theo Riddick, RB, DET - Riddick has been an RB1 in PPR leagues each of the two weeks that Reggie Bush didn’t play, and Bush isn’t a sure thing this weekend. He has also caught a touchdown in each of the last three games. Bell isn’t a great play this week, but with Chicago up in Weeks 13 and 16, you’ll want to have him on your roster. The Lions defense can power the running back opportunity in this offense that is going warm up in December.
Eli Manning, QB, Rashad Jennings, RB, Odell Beckham, WR, NYG - The Giants offense has been through at least three distinct movements so far this season, and the nitty gritty of the fantasy season could be the best yet. With Dallas, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Washington, and St. Louis left on the schedule, the passing game could be a nice fantasy pipeline of points, and Jennings could be an RB1.
Drew Brees, QB, Mark Ingram, RB, Kenny Stills, WR, NO - The Saints play the rest of their games in the fantasy season either at home, or against weak defenses (Chicago, Pittsburgh) on the road. You want a piece of this offense if you can get it.
Christine Michael, RB, SEA - Michael’s dynasty owners have loosened their grip on him. If you covet his services long term, there hasn’t been a better moment to buy since he entered the league.
Cody Latimer, WR, DEN - The preseason Latimer fever feels like a 24-hour bug we got over a long time ago, but his time is still coming. Let the CJ Anderson fiasco remind you that just because Foxy isn’t playing someone doesn’t mean that they aren’t capable of ripping it up.
Sell High
Terrance West, RB, CLE - West is not more talented than Isaiah Crowell, and I would still bet on that eventually working itself out on the field, even if it might not happen this year. He might not have a better game for the rest of the season, and he will be an unreliable play for the rest of the year in redraft leagues unless the Browns settle on a back, which they haven’t shown much inclination to do this year.
Denard Robinson, RB, JAX - Robinson looks great, and he might be an ok long-term hold, but investing him is still investing in the Jaguars offense. I wouldn’t sell Robinson for pennies on the dollar, but he is the kind of player that might inspire lofty expectations from a trade partner who might give you a first-round pick for him, or a very nice piece in redraft leagues if they are RB needy.
Brandon LaFell, WR, NE - LaFell is just not as good as his recent run of numbers suggests. He is a very solid receiver, and he has gotten a ton of opportunity in New England, but even a slight shift in the offense coming out of the by could turn him into something like a glorified Eddie Royal. I wouldn’t want to count on him and think he’s still a very unstable dynasty investment.
Bishop Sankey, RB, TEN, Tre Mason, RB, STL, Charles Sims, RB, TB - These rookie backs still have their fan clubs, but they are all on teams going nowhere, and they aren’t the kinds of talents that make a team feel like the position is settled for good. If you can get anything near the original pick cost of these backs to get more picks in a much, much better RB class coming up next year, do it.
Jordan Matthews, WR, PHI - Matthews looks like a terrific fit in Philadelphia. He might even level off as a solid WR2 weekly play in his slot role. I underestimated the intersection of his confident skills with Chip Kelly’s offense. That being said, he is nowhere near the level of Odell Beckham, Sammy Watkins, and Mike Evans in terms of long term ceiling. If you can flip him for one of them, or Michael Floyd, done.
