Over my many years as a Footballguy, I have written about a lot of different tactics, strategies and plans when it comes to preparing for a fantasy football draft. At times I think I have seen, heard and read it all - and then it happens. One of you writes to me after reading an article of mine and tells me that they thought of something that might be a little "out there", which is quite often right up my alley. On occasion, I get surprised by these with such a novel concept that I had not thought of - but I was glad that I was involved in helping to create it. Just like many of these types of articles, the idea was too good not to share - and so here we are.
A few days ago Brian wrote me this email:
I wanted to get you opinion on a Short Bench idea. So I read your article on short bench leagues and I was thinking of mixing a combo of it and a QB and TE committee. Here's my thoughts; we have a 1pt PPR league with 15 roster spots. 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1DEF, 1K, and no FLEX. I was thinking about using the first nine picks to stud up the RB and WR spots. Then toward the end of the draft when the VBD of RB's and WR's are just gross getting like Sam Bradford and Winston, with Seferian-Jenkins and Heath Miller. I would only use free agency for kickers and defense. I know you say that you should avoid double QB's and TE's this but isn't there some value to this idea? I should get QB1 and TE1 production because I would be swapping in the guys with the most upside. While having solid WR and RB production.
Thanks!Brian
Good luck this season.
