This article takes a look at players from each of the positions in your starting lineup who have interesting matchups. Not all players covered are your classic sleepers who might outperform expectations. Some are nominal starters with tricky matchups or players who might be deep sleepers in smaller leagues, but starters in larger leagues. Realizing that leagues and roster sizes vary wildly; your mileage could vary, too.
Quarterbacks
Ryan Tannehill, MIA vs BAL
Tannehill faces a soft Baltimore pass defense that has yielded 327 passing yards and 2.3 TDs over the last 4 weeks. Drew Brees and Philip Rivers combined for 803 passing yards and 6 TDs in Baltimore's last 2 contests. In week 9, Ben Roethlisberger lit up this defense for 6 passing TDs b(and 340 passing yards).
Andy Dalton, CIN vs PIT
Six of the last QBs to face the Steelers have thrown for 2 or more TDs. This includes Michael Vick and Zach Mettenberger. All told, the Steelers have given up 14 passing TDs during these six weeks.
Russell Wilson, SEA at PHI
Although the Eagles shut down Tony Romo and company on Thanksgiving, they have been prone to big passing numbers from QBs this season. Zach Mettenberger managed to hang 345 passing yards and 2 TDs on them in week 12. Aaron Rodgers had 341 passing yards and 3 TDs in week 11 as well. With the PHI offense playing well, Russell Wilson might need to air things out a bit more than usual in this contest.
Eli Manning, NYG at TEN
The Titans seemed to just give up as a defensive unit last week as they were destroyed by Ryan Fitzpatrick to the tune of 6 passing scores. In the copycat NFL, look for Tom Coughlin to attack those things that worked last week.
Shaun Hill, STL at WAS
Andrew Luck managed to hang 370 yards and 5 TDs against this unit last week. The Redskins team appears to be self-detructing (Colt McCoy is now the starting QB, really?) in front of our eyes. The Rams are still playing great football as seen by the complete dismantling of the Raiders last week. I like Shaun Hill to do the most with his chances this week.
Running Backs
Andre Williams, NYG at TEN
Rashad Jennings appears to be on the wrong side of the Questionable tag. If he scratches, look for rookie Andre Williams to carry the load in this contest. Over the last 4 games, the Titans have given up 155 rushing yards to go with 1.2 rushing TDs per game. Williams is not in the same class as the runners who have been shredding this unit (Foster twice, Le'Veon Bell, McCoy, Forsett), but the entire Tennessee defensive unit looks lost out there. With increased opportunities, he should be n for a big game.
Bishop Sankey, TEN vs NYG
RBs have combined for 100+ rushing/receiving yards in 5 of the last 7 contests against the Giants. The Titans might not be playing for much, but this could be a great opportunity for the team to figure out what they have in rookie Sankey.
Tre Mason, STL at WAS
Fresh off a 164 yard / 3 TD performance rushing and receiving, Tre Mason gets another soft opponent to showcase his skill set.
Jonathan Stewart, CAR at NO
DeAngelo Williams looks like he will be out which gives Stewart a bump in carries this week. Backs have shredded the Saints defense the last three weeks (Bell - 254 combined yards/1 TD, Forsett - 190 combined yards and 2 TDs, and Hill 165 combined yards). Stewart managed 85 yards on 12 carries last week against a lot tougher run defense.
Wide Receivers
Doug Baldwin / Jermaine Kearse, SEA at PHI
The Eagles run a high-temp offense with the hopes of outscoring teams. That has worked often for them and makes for some great shootouts on the field. Seattle may need to abandon their typical gground game and defensive stops in this one should Philadelphia get the offense rolling at home. Both WRs could be in for big games.
Kenny Stills, NO vs CAR
Stills had a career performance last week catching 5 passes for 162 yards and a TD. He should continue to get an uptick in targets with Brandin Cooks out for the year. Defenses still scheme to limit Jimmy Graham and I suspect carolina will do that as well. This should bode well for Stills drawing soft corner play most of the day.
Jarvis Landry, MIA vs BAL
The Ravens defense is giving up 327 yards and 2.3 passing TDs per contest over the last 4 weeks. Landry has upped his game considerably with 11 targets in each of the last 2 games. He should be in your lineup this week.
Robert Woods, BUF at DEN
The Denver Broncos tend to play with a lead in most contests. Because of this, this defensive unit gives up a lot of passing yards in most weeks. Talib will likely cover Sammy Watkins most of the day so Woods could be the recipient of a lot of targets on gameday.
Terrance Williams, DAL at CHI
The Bears are giving up 302 passing yards and 2.5 TDs per contest over the last 4 games. With all eyes attempting to defense Dez Bryant, Williams could be headed for a great game. The Bears have yielded five 100 yard WR performances in as many weeks.
Tight Ends
Jared Cook, STL at WAS
Coby Fleener is just the latest TE to shred this Washington unit. He hung 127 yards and 2 TDs and dropped another sure TD earlier in the game. Larry Donnell hung 3 TDs on this unit in week 4. Tight Ends are always hit and miss, but Cook remains a great flier against this unit mailing it in.
Charles Clay, MIA vs BAL
If the slow plodding Anthony Gates can manage 7 receptions and 83 yards, what can Clay do? The pass defense is atrocious. It's just a matter of what open WRs/TEs Tannehill targets in this one.
Kyle Rudolph, MIN vs NYJ
Dion Sims caught 4 passes for 58 yards on MNF against this coverage. Rudolph shook off the rust last week, but still managed to find the endzone. He should have a much bigger role this week.
