Footballguys has partnered with FanDuel and as part of that deal, I will be penning a weekly piece that tries to cover some of the finer points on beating their contests. This article will usually appear on Saturdays and not include the early Thursday games.
My approach to FanDuel's Daily Games
In salary cap games where other companies are determining prices, I like to see where their thoughts differ substantially from my projections. My value chart below matches up my projections against FanDuel's prices:
Some explanation of my Excel manipulation is in order:
- Everything is sorted by position
- I have converted my projections to FanDuel Fantasy Points. These figures appear in the FP column.
- The Price column reflects FanDuel's Week 5 Price
- The Price per FP column reflects the cost per projected fantasy point (the lower the value the better).
- I have highlighted player's names (in green) that should be strong considerations for your lineups. They generally reflect the most bang for the buck at their respective positions. Players in yellow also are worth consideration when building your roster.
General Thoughts
Situations that stand out to me this week.
- The Saints at home should always be on your radar. This week the 1-3 Saints get the overmatched Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home. Vegas has New Orleans favored by 10. That might be too kind. QB Drew Brees, RB Khiry Robinson, WRs Marques Colston and Brandin Cooks, TE Jimmy Graham and PK Shayne Graham all should be considered in your lineups.
- One of the worst rush offenses (San Diego) pairs up against one of the best rush defenses (Jets) at home this week. The Chargers should abandon the run early in this contest allowing the WRs to play favorable matchups against New York's soft corners. The Jets are giving up 2 passing TDs a game. Keenan Allen and Malcom Floyd both seem undervalued.
- The Jaguars are giving up a league worst 312 passing yards and 2.4 passing TDs per contest. Antonio Brown has been scoring against everyone. He seems a safe bet to put up monsterous numbers in this game as well.
Sample Roster ($60K) - Projected Points = 123.6
- QB Colin Kaepernick, SF - $7,800
- RB DeMarco Murray, DAL - $9,000
- RB Rashad Jennings, NYG - $7,200
- TE Jimmy Graham, NO - $7,900
- WR Keenan Allen, SD - $7,000
- WR Rueben Randle, NYG - $5,400
- WR Brandin Cooks, NO - $6,400
- TD Detroit Lions - $4,800
- PK Shayne Graham, NO - $4,500
