The Butterfly Effect

BJ VanderWoude - November 16, 2017

The Butterfly Effect is a theory that believes “small causes can have larger effects”.  To take it one step further though, it is really how a single occurrence can cause several different layers of effects.

BJ VanderWoude - November 7, 2017

In terms of Point Per Dollar (PP$) value this season, the tight end position has the potential to either be a gold mine or a land mine. Which tight ends should you invest in heavily, and which ones should you avoid in week 10.

BJ VanderWoude - November 7, 2017

Jared Goff, Matthew Stafford, Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan and Josh McCown all have favorable matchups against defenses that are ranked 26th or worse in passing yards allowed. Which offers the best Point Per Dollar (PP$) value?

BJ VanderWoude - November 7, 2017

BJ VanderWoude - October 25, 2017

Where to Find Value at Wide Receiver in Week 8

Does Aaron Rodgers Injury Create Value in Green Bay?

BJ VanderWoude - October 17, 2017

Aaron Rodgers injury (broken collarbone) has thrust Brett Hundley to the top of the depth chart in Green Bay. Although he has very little regular season experience, he has played very well in the preseason. Hundley is near the minimum salary for quarterbacks and has a great supporting cast around him. How do you see Hundley fairing as a starter, and will you have any exposure to him or the Packers wide receivers and running backs?

Finding the Shootout Among Games With Low Projected Totals

BJ VanderWoude - October 17, 2017

Currently, there are six games with projected totals of less than 42 points (Jaguars vs Colts, Bengals vs Steelers, Ravens vs Vikings, Jets vs Dolphins, Panthers vs Bears, Seahawks vs Giants). Which of these games do you see going over the projected total? Which players benefit from a more up-tempo game script?

Who is the best PP$ Play at Tight End in Week 7?

BJ VanderWoude - October 17, 2017

With Rob Gronkowski and Jordan Reed playing on Sunday and Monday nights, respectively, and Travis Kelce playing on Thursday night, the top tight ends on the main slate are Delanie Walker, Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Jimmy Graham, Cameron Brate, Jason Witten and Evan Engram. Which of these tight end's will you have exposure to in week 7? Are there any better PP$ options out there at the position?

Finding the Low Scoring Game Among Projected Shootouts

BJ VanderWoude - October 11, 2017

Currently, there are four games with projected totals of 47+ points (New England vs New York Jets, Miami vs Atlanta, and Detroit vs New Orleans) with two others likely headed in the same direction (Green Bay vs Minnesota and LA Chargers vs Oakland). Which of these games do you see not hitting their projected total, and which players do you think will suffer from a lower scoring affair?

Debating DeShaun Watson's Value

BJ VanderWoude - October 11, 2017

DeShaun Watson has proven to one of, if not the best overall value through the first five weeks of the season. His salary has stayed very low until this week, however he now finds himself among the top six quartberbacks price wise, across the industry.  With a home matchup against the win-less Brows this week, will you be investing in Watson? Include opinions for both GPP and cash games.

Debating Week 6 Exposure to Todd Gurley and Leonard Fournette

BJ VanderWoude - October 11, 2017

Leonard Fournette and Todd Gurley are ranked #2 and #3 in terms of average points per game at the running back position. This week they play each with Fournette having the slight advantage of playing in Jacksonville. Both the Jaguars and the Rams have been very good matchups for opposing running backs, so with this in mind, will you have heavy exposure to either or both, Gurley and/or Fournette?

Top PP$ Options at Wide Receiver for Week 6

BJ VanderWoude - October 11, 2017

Antonio Brown, Jordy Nelson, Mike Evans, Golden Tate and Larry Fitzgerald all have great matchups against  secondaries who have given up big games to opposing wide receivers. Using a PP$ approach, give us the two wide receivers who will prove to be the best value in week 6.

Which Backup Running Backs are Primed for Success?

BJ VanderWoude - October 4, 2017

With injuries to Ty Montgomery, Chris Carson, Darren Sproles and Dalvin Cook, there is quite a bit of value to be had at the running back position. The problem is, it is hard to trust understudies Aaron Jones, J.D. McKissic, LeGarrette Blount/Wendell Smallwood and Latavius Murray.  Of these players thrust into a starting role, which one will you have the most exposure to in week 5? Include both cash game and GPP options.

Finding Value in the Middle Tier of Quarterbacks

BJ VanderWoude - October 4, 2017

This past week, the highest scoring quarterbacks on the main slate were Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, Philip Rivers and Eli Manning. All of these quarterbacks were priced very reasonably, and with the exception of Philip Rivers (3.7x) all of the quarterbacks produced at least a 4.8x multiple on their salary.  Newton and Watson producing a 6x and 6.8x multiple on their salaries, respecitively. With this in mind, what is your strategy at quarterback for GPP's this year? Do you think it is wise to spend up for the top quarterbacks (Rodgers, Brady and Brees)?

The PP$ Battle Between the First and Second Tier of Wide Receivers

BJ VanderWoude - October 4, 2017

Odell Beckham Jr., Antonio Brown, AJ Green and Jordy Nelson all face either tough or nuetral matchups in week 5, whereas Mike Evans, DeAndre Hopkins, Brandin Cooks and Larry Fitzgerald have great matchups against the bottom four secondaries in the league (passing yards allowed).  Considering their matchups, which receivers offer the best PP$ value?  Which receivers are you considering using in cash games, and which receivers are you using in GPP's?

Finding a Shootout among Games With Low Projected Totals

BJ VanderWoude - October 4, 2017

Currenly, there are six games on the board with a projected total of less than 45 points (Chargers @ Giants,  Bills @ Bengals,  Jets @ Browns,  Jaguars @ Steelers, 49ers @ Colts,  Panthers @ Lions).  Pick one of these games that you think has the potential to go over the 50 point mark, and explain which players benefit from a shootout.

Predicting Shootouts for Week 4

BJ VanderWoude - September 26, 2017

As it currently stands, there is only one game with a projected total of 50+ points, (New Orleans vs Miami). Pick a game that you think will go over the 50+ point mark, and explain which players benefit from a shootout.

A Look at Le'Veon Bell's Value

BJ VanderWoude - September 26, 2017

Le'Veon Bell continues to be the highest priced running back across the industry, despite the fact that he has yet to even sniff a 3x multiple on his salary in the first three weeks. Will you be playing Bell in your GPP's this week? If not, give us an example of a running back you will have major exposure to in week 4.

A look at Jared Goff, Blake Bortles, and Case Keenum's Value

BJ VanderWoude - September 26, 2017

Jared Goff, Blake Bortles and Case Keenum combined to throw for 10 touchdowns and no interceptions in week 3, while all eclipsing a 4x multiple on their salary.  Their stellar play has not had an immediate impact on their salary though, as all continue to be priced very low. Will you have any exposure to these quarterbacks in week 4? Include both cash game and GPP opinions.

Finding GPP and Cash Game Value at Wide Receiver

BJ VanderWoude - September 26, 2017

With the exception of the top tier of wide receivers, pricing has been all over the place from week to week. Pick one wide receiver that you will have exposure to in cash games, and pick one wide receiver that you will have exposure to in GPP's.

Predicting Game Scripts of Home Favorites

BJ VanderWoude - September 19, 2017

Of the 16 games on the week three schedule, only six home teams (New England, Carolina, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Tennessee and Green Bay) are currently favored to win. Excluding New England, pick the home team that you think has the most predictable game script, and explain which players benefit the most from this game script.

Finding GPP Value at Tight End

BJ VanderWoude - September 19, 2017

Week two was not kind to the top tight ends, as Rob Gronkowski, Greg Olsen and Jimmy Graham all left the game due to injuries. Excluding Travis Kelce and Jordan Reed, pick two tight end options for week three that you will have exposure to in GPP's.

Tennessee and Chicago Running Back Situations

BJ VanderWoude - September 19, 2017

Jordan Howard and DeMarco Murray were both held to nine carries in week two due to injuries, and they combined for less than five points. Their backups (Tarik Cohen and Derrick Henry) have outscored them through two weeks, and are now priced equally with Howard and Murray.  Depending on the severity of both injuries, there could either be great value here, or a true time share. How will you approach these backfields in week three?  Does your opinion change for cash games vs GPP's?

Identifying GPP Value at Wide Receiver

BJ VanderWoude - September 19, 2017

Finding value at wide receiver is one of the keys to winning GPP's, especially early in the season before breakout players emerge. Pick two wide receivers who you think have the potential to exceed a 4x salary multiple in week three, and explain your reasoning.

Predicting Game Scripts With High Over/Unders

BJ VanderWoude - September 12, 2017

With the exception of Green Bay at Atlanta (and potentially New England vs New Orleans), all other projected totals are less than 50 points. Pick a game that you think has the potential to go over the 50 point mark, and which players you will have exposure to in that game.

Le'Veon Bell Stock

BJ VanderWoude - September 12, 2017

Week 1 was not kind to Le'Veon Bell, as he totaled only 47 yards on 13 touches. With his salary continuing to be among the highest of all players, are you buying or selling Bell stock this week against Minnesota?

Kansas City Chiefs Offense

BJ VanderWoude - September 12, 2017

Alex Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs offense looked unstoppable against the Patriots in week 1. While the four touchdown passes are certainly an outlier performance for Smith, how do you see him faring against the Eagles in week 2?  Would you consider stacking him alongside Kareem Hunt, Travis Kelce or Tyreek Hill?

Quarterback Value in Week 2

BJ VanderWoude - September 12, 2017

After seeing quite a bit of value at the quarterback position to start the season, the pricing at quarterback has become tighter for week 2. Pick two quarterbacks who will be great value in week 2 and explain your reasoning. Who do you see failing to perform up to expectations?

Wide Receiver Strategy

BJ VanderWoude - September 5, 2017

After dominating weekly scoring in 2015, the high priced wide receivers (Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, Odell Beckham Jr.) rarely gave you Point Per Dollar (PP$) value in 2016. How do you see these wide receivers faring in week 1, and will you have significant exposure to any of the three?  If not, give us your top PP$ wide receiver plays for week 1.

Predicting Game Scripts

BJ VanderWoude - September 5, 2017

With the exception of the games exceeding a total of 50 points, pick a game with a predictable game script, and tell us how you see it playing out.  Which players benefit from that game script? Are there any potentially high owned players that you see not benefiting from this game script?

Evaluating High Scoring Games

BJ VanderWoude - September 5, 2017

There are four games with totals of 50 or more points.  Of the four, is there one specific game you are targeting?  If so, which teams (and players) do you find yourself consistently rostering?  On the flip side, Is there a trap game among the four that will end up being low scoring?
