*** Thursday Update *** QB Matt Ryan (ATL) Ryan's potential contract extension will be the focus of the offseason, according to general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

*** Monday Update *** QB Cam Newton (CAR) The National Football League is currently investigating whether the Carolina Panthers properly followed concussion protocol with Cam Newton during the NFC Wild Card game against the New Orleans Saints Sunday, Jan. 7. Newton was poked in the eye and also suffered a knee injury after taking a hit to the head from DT David Onyemata. A league source said the injured knee was a contributing factor to Newton staggering to the ground and having difficulty maintaining his balance. He was taken to the team's blue medical tent on the sidelines for evaluation but was not sent to the locker room, as the league's new rules require.

QB Tom Brady (NE) Brady's three-touchdown performance in the team's Divisional Round victory Saturday, Jan. 13, against the Tennessee Titans was his 10th such performance in the postseason, breaking a tie with retired quarterback Joe Montana for most career playoff games with three or more passing touchdowns.

QB Drew Brees (NO) said following the team's Divisional Round loss opposite the Minnesota Vikings Sunday, Jan. 14, that he expects the club to re-sign him. He believes the Saints are entering "a window of time here where we can really make a run at it" and expects to be part of that effort, adding that he is "excited for the future of Saints football." Brees said he does not plan to test the free-agent market. "I'll be [in New Orleans] as long as they'll have me, hopefully," Brees said.

*** Thursday Update *** QB Derek Carr (OAK) was given high praise from new offensive coordinator Greg Olson. Olson opined that Carr's football intelligence is "off the charts" and spoke highly of the quarterback's physical talent, accuracy, and quick release.

*** Friday Update *** QB Nick Foles (PHI) is the first quarterback in NFL history to register a passer rating of 100 or more in each of his first two career playoff starts (minimum of 30 attempts), with the first one coming during the 2013 season and the most recent being the team's Divisional Round win Saturday, Jan. 13, against the Atlanta Falcons.

QB Nick Foles (PHI) has thrown just one touchdown compared to two interceptions in five games played in Philadelphia this season. Meanwhile, he has thrown four touchdowns and zero interceptions in two road contests.

*** Monday Update *** QB Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) has informed teammates that he would like to play three more years in the NFL, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ed Bouchette. Roethlisberger had already announced that he would be returning for the 2018 season.

*** Monday Update *** QB Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) indicated that he will return for another season in 2018. "So I look forward to next year with these guys," Roethlisberger said Sunday, Jan. 14.

*** Monday Update *** QB Jimmy Garoppolo (SF) will be given the franchise tag if a long-term contract is not reached by March 6, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area, but Maiocco is confident the two sides will agree to a long-term deal.

*** Monday Update *** RB Mike Tolbert (BUF) will be a free agent at the end of the season and expressed interest in returning to the Carolina Panthers during a radio interview with WFMZ-FM Friday, Jan. 12. *** Wednesday Update *** RB Doug Martin (TB) has "no chance" of being on Tampa Bay's roster next season, in the opinion of the Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud.

RB Doug Martin (TB) failed to rush for even 500 yards for the fourth time in five years. General manager Jason Licht attributed Martin's most recent disappointing season to his season-opening suspension and the idea he wasn't able to reach the form he showed in the preseason after returning from his three-game absence.

RB DeMarco Murray (TEN) said he believes he is "definitely" still a top-end feature back. "I am very confident in myself and I am excited," he said. "I am excited about the future, and my future. I know what kind of player I am." He added that he "probably" would have been able to return from injury in the next game had the Titans not lost their Divisional Round playoff affair Saturday, Jan. 13, against the New England Patriots. Murray also mentioned that he envisioned returning to the team next season.

RB Chris Thompson (WAS) said he's "feeling good" while rehabbing from a fractured fibula that he sustained back in November in a game against the New Orleans Saints.

WR Julio Jones (ATL) will not participate in the 2018 Pro Bowl due to his nagging ankle injury.

Bilbo also mentioned that he is waiting on the Dolphins to respond to his contract proposal.

The Saints choose to release him, they would still be charged $4.8 million in dead money.
