Sometimes it is just fun to crunch the all-time statistics and pull out some interesting numbers. There are always surprises when you begin to breakdown and sort through the statistics over the past fifty years.

Here we go.

Career Receptions by Wide Receivers (Current Players)

  • Wes Welker is currently ranked 40th all-time in total receptions with 650 career receptions. That is a good career but he is 900 receptions away from defeating the all-time receptions record that Jerry Rice owns (1,539 receptions).

  • Welker is first out of this group of hundred in receptions per game played (5.96 receptions per game). That is a remarkable achievement, ahead of such greats as Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, Cris Carter, Marvin Harrison, and Larry Fitzgerald.

  • Anquan Boldin is a surprising fourth overall in receptions per game throughout his NFL career. He has averaged 5.7 receptions per game.

  • Randy Moss is only 149 receptions away from reaching #2 all time in receptions.
