Sometimes it is just fun to crunch the all-time statistics and pull out some interesting numbers. There are always surprises when you begin to breakdown and sort through the statistics over the past fifty years.

Wes Welker is currently ranked 40th all-time in total receptions with 650 career receptions. That is a good career but he is 900 receptions away from defeating the all-time receptions record that Jerry Rice owns (1,539 receptions).
Welker is first out of this group of hundred in receptions per game played (5.96 receptions per game). That is a remarkable achievement, ahead of such greats as Jerry Rice, Randy Moss, Cris Carter, Marvin Harrison, and Larry Fitzgerald.
Anquan Boldin is a surprising fourth overall in receptions per game throughout his NFL career. He has averaged 5.7 receptions per game.
Randy Moss is only 149 receptions away from reaching #2 all time in receptions.
Larry Fitzgerald is fifth all time in receptions per game with 5.59 per game. He needs less than 70 receptions per game over six more seasons to take over the #2 spot currently held by Marvin Harrison.
Roddy White is averaging 4.72 receptions per game in his career which ranks 16th all-time in this group. Steve Smith needs 301 more receptions to reach 1,000 receptions in his career.
