Strengths: Coples' combination of size and speed is tantalizing. He's flashed the ability to explode out of his stance and beat offensive linemen off the snap and with a counter swim move. He's strong enough to control his opponent and set the edge against the run.
Weaknesses: Questions about Coples' motor dogged him before the draft. Some scouts also worried about his lack of an elite first step and inconsistent pad level, issues which allow offensive linemen to block Coples more easily than they should. Early expectations are that Coples will primarily align as a 5-technique DE, which will limit his statistical upside.
2012 Outlook: DL4
Dynasty Outlook: Matchup DL3 ceiling as 5-tech
