Matt Kalil was a quietly great prospect at Southern California, and his addition to the Vikings puts this offensive line on the path to respectability. Kalil has rare agility and foot speed and will start at left tackle on day one. His bloodline (Pro Bowl brother Ryan on the Panthers) pretty much insures success. To be clear, Kalil will not be an All Pro at first, every rookie goes through growing pains, but this is an achievable goal within three or four seasons. Kalil's arrival allows Charlie Johnson to be moved to left guard, and these changes greatly improve the line as a while. The Vikings offensive line will transform from atrocious to almost average with the upside to be very good several years down the line. This strengthens the fantasy stock of quarterback Christian Ponder, running back Adrian Peterson, and all other skill position players on the Vikings offense.
