Strengths: James is a great space runner who is very elusive in the open field. He's a big play waiting to happen and can have big games even on limited touches. James is explosive in and out of his breaks and can get to top speed in a hurry. Even though he's not big, James has played through injuries and carried the ball 771 times over three seasons in college. James can run good routes as a receiver out of the backfield, and he can even line up in the slot.

Weaknesses: He lacks the lower body strength to run through arm tackles and can be engulfed by defenders. His lack of height makes him easy to leap if he tries to chop block in pass protection.

2012 Outlook: It may be difficult for James to get touches in a crowded 49ers backfield. He's fourth on the depth chart but will see time as a change of pace weapon. Take him no earlier than the mid-teen rounds of your fantasy draft.

Dynasty Outlook: James will always be limited by his size. He could develop into a Darren Sproles-like weapon for the 49ers, but that may take some time.

NFL Comparison: A smaller C.J. Spiller.
