Interview with Keith Clark

David Dodds: You reached out to me many months ago with the idea to create a series of Fantasy Football Symposiums. Give us a quick overview of what you have planned here.

Keith Clark: Well, I guess I'm pretty much the quintessential fantasy football player. You know, the type who experiences withdrawal symptoms every January. For example, I admit to being a big fan of FootballGuys, and I take advantage of most of your voluminous content each week.

So, it was just after last season that I was thinking, wouldn't it be cool if we fantasy football fans had the opportunity to see these guys that we've been following for years the fantasy experts from FootballGuys, ESPN, Yahoo!, CBSSports, Sirius Radio and other sources like those in person? And how about in August, right before our drafts?

That's when I contacted you and some other fantasy experts I admired. Amazingly, you experts were just as interested in making this happen as I was. Fantasy Football Symposium was born.

A symposium will feature five 45 minute seminar periods, each with a choice of six or seven of fantasy's top experts discussing every topic that the fans want to hear about. Hopefully, most sessions will also allow Q&A from the fans. And during lunch, each symposium will feature either Chris Mortensen or Adam Schefter, live and in person, with the absolute latest news from the NFL.

David Dodds: What cities and dates are these symposiums scheduled for?

Keith Clark:

  • Saturday, August 13, at the Omni CNN Center in Atlanta
  • Saturday, August 20, at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center outside of Chicago
  • Sunday, August 21, at the Hyatt Regency DFW Airport in Texas
  • Saturday, August 27, at Foxwoods MGM Grand in Connecticut, close to Boston and a short drive from the New York metro area
  • Sunday, August 28, at Waterford at Springfield, in Northern Virginia

David Dodds: Who will be speaking at each of these events? What kinds of topics will the speakers be covering?

Keith Clark: We'll have lots of the Footballguys experts (Dodds, Bloom, Wood, Waldman, Rudnicki, Pasquino), Matthew "Talented Mr. Roto" Berry and AJ Mass from ESPN, Brad Evans, Brandon Funston and Andy Behrens from Yahoo!, Dave Richard and Jamey Eisenberg from CBSSports, the guys from Rotowire/Sirius Radio, and more. And, of course, Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen. In short, pretty much the crème de la crème of fantasy football. Each city will have a different lineup of speakers.

The topics will be chosen from the results of a survey of the ticketholders on our website. I expect a lot of discussion of pre-draft prognostications, undervalued/overvalued, sleepers, draft strategy, etc. Will we get into specific stuff like PPR and Dynasty leagues, auction drafts, in season trading strategy or even IDP and D/ST or QB by committee? The fans will dictate that! And whether it comes from the fantasy experts or the NFL reporters like Adam Schefter or Chris Mortensen, the information will be as fresh as it can possibly be.

David Dodds: This is a who's who in the fantasy industry. Clearly you are thinking big here. How many tickets are available for each event?

Keith Clark: Tickets are limited and are expected to sell quickly. The capacities range from 900 to 1,600 per city.

David Dodds: How long does each event last?

Keith Clark: Doors open at 8 AM. Seminars are held at 9, 10, 11, 2:15 and 3:15, with a delicious luncheon and keynote speaker at 12:15.

David Dodds: How can I find out more information about these events?

Keith Clark: All the info and ticketing can be found at
