The Rookie 100 - Post-Draft Fantasy Rankings

Posted 4/28 by Sigmund Bloom, Exclusive for Footballguys.com

This list is for deep dynasty leagues with PPR scoring and full IDP lineups. Pre-draft ranking in parentheses

The Rookie 100

  1. Knowshon Moreno, RB, DEN (2) - Rises to #1 because he was taken to be the do-everything back
  2. Michael Crabtree, WR, SF (1) - If he had landed on a team with better QB play he might have held on to #1
  3. Donald Brown, RB, IND (3) - Could be an RB1 with only 60% of the work
  4. Chris Wells, RB, ARI (4) - Has a chance to be the Cardinals version of Michael Turner, but sell high if he starts hot
  5. LeSean McCoy, RB, PHI (5) - Will require patience, but could end up being Westbrook 2.0
  6. Hakeem Nicks, WR, NYG (6) - Wide open path to #1 role
  7. Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, OAK (7) - Very high ceiling, when everyone agrees he was a terrible pick, get in on the ground floor
  8. Jeremy Maclin, WR, PHI (10) - Lands in a great passing game without a true #1 WR
  9. Matthew Stafford, QB, DET (9) - Hopefully he'll buy a house next door to Calvin's
  10. Shonn Greene, RB, NYJ (14) - Jets RB coach said he was #1 back on his board
  11. Percy Harvin, WR, MIN (15) - Being in an offense with All Day gives him even more big play potential
  12. Brian Robiskie, WR, CLE (11) - Edwards should keep him facing single coverage
  13. Aaron Curry, LB, SEA (13) - De-franchising LeRoy Hill opens up weakside possibility for him
  14. Mark Sanchez, QB, NYJ (20) - Should be starting by midseason
  15. Jarett Dillard, WR, JAX (8) - Very disappointed in his slide, but I'm not doubting what I saw
  16. Rey Maualuga, LB, CIN (19) - Uncontested MLB on a bad team
  17. Kenny Britt, WR, TEN (17) - Landed in a bad passing offense and he's not a hands catcher
  18. Mike Thomas, WR, JAX (16) - Will start out as a slot guy, but they'll realize they have a starter
  19. James Laurinaitis, LB, STL (25) - Should have a ton of tackle opportunity
  20. Austin Collie, WR, IND (33) - Perfect landing spot, will be very productive in the slot and major upside if injuries hit the WR corps
  21. Travis Beckum, TE, NYG (34) - Could be de facto #2 target a la Keller if Nicks or Hixon doesn't develop
  22. Brandon Pettigrew, TE, DET (21) - Will start right away and be a serviceable fantasy TE
  23. Josh Freeman, QB, TB (30) - Moves up because so many of the 2nd tier RBs and TEs fell in the draft
  24. Gartrell Johnson, RB, SD (35) - Could position himself as heir to LT
  25. Shawn Nelson, TE, BUF (26) - Decent landing spot, will move up in the pecking order after TO is gone
  26. Brandon Tate, WR, NE (29) - Character issues less of a concern in this culture
  27. Juaquin Iglesias, WR, CHI (31) - Has a chance to emerge as a favorite target for Cutler
  28. Jared Cook , TE, TEN (18) - Fall down the board + landing spot = fall down my board
  29. Bernard Scott, RB, CIN (43) - Third round talent with long term opportunity
  30. Chase Coffman, TE, CIN (24) - Ben Utecht, but better and more durable - not in an offense that uses the TE a lot
  31. James Casey, TE, HOU (13) - Like Dillard, disappointed in fall, but not completely giving up on the talent
  32. William Moore, S, ATL (49) - Will get to gamble in that defense and he'll be an instant starter
  33. Kenny McKinley, WR, DEN (38) - Marshall is unlikely to get an extension in Denver
  34. Cornelius Ingram, TE, PHI (36) - Most talented TE on the roster by far
  35. Patrick Chung, S, NE (40) - Should assume the Rodney Harrison role
  36. Javon Ringer, RB, TEN (23) - Either Henry or White is probably gone, and Ringer could be better than whichever one remains
  37. Louis Delmas, S, DET (41) - Will be on the field a ton and loves to play run support
  38. Andre Brown, RB, NYG (28) - Will push Bradshaw and Ware to get touches
  39. Johnny Knox, WR, CHI (44) - Top contender to play the slot and starter upside
  40. Ramses Barden, WR, NYG (48) - Like Beckum, could seize long term opportunity if Nicks/Hixon falter
  41. DeAndre Levy, LB, DET (NR) - Can't ignore someone with the chance to be the starting MLB on a terrible team
  42. Larry English, OLB, SD (68) - You have to wonder about Merriman's long term future in San Diego now
  43. Mike Wallace, WR, PIT (46) - Ward's extension means he'll have to wait, but Sweed has someone to push him to start in the future
  44. Cedric Peerman, RB, BAL (22) - Could pull a Tashard Choice and push his way into earning touches in a crowded backfield
  45. James Davis, RB, CLE (62) - Plays a smaller Jamal Lewis and has a shot to replace him in time
  46. Brian Orakpo, DE/OLB, WAS (32) - Didn't land in a 3-4, hope for him to be listed as a DE (even though there's talk of SLB) if you own him
  47. Everette Brown, DE, CAR (39) - Less fantasy potential as a DE, but will play even angrier now
  48. Michael Johnson, DE, CIN (47) - Big time upside and should get to start soon
  49. Gerald McRath, LB, TEN (73) - Lands one of the teams with the weakest MLB corps
  50. Tyrone McKenzie, LB, NE (74) - Terrific shot to start next to Mayo in time, draft him if you own Guyton
  51. Rashad Jennings, RB, JAX (27) - Could get Fred Taylor's old role if MJD doesn't make a smooth transition to full-time back
  52. Mike Goodson, RB, CAR (42) - On one hand, he's on a team with two great young backs ahead of him. On the other, he's on the best running team in the league
  53. Mohamed Massaquoi, WR, CLE (56) - Won't get a shot unless/until Edwards gets traded/leaves
  54. Deon Butler, WR, SEA (79) - Will be Seattle's super slot receiver like the guy whose records he broke in Happy Valley
  55. Dominique Edison, WR, TEN (70) - How long before they realize he has Britt's size and speed with better hands?
  56. Pat White, QB/ATH, MIA (55) - Worth taking if you own Henne, but my money is not on White to win that job
  57. Clint Sintim, LB, NYG (69) - Could he eventually replace Antonio Pierce?
  58. Clay Matthews, OLB, GB (59) - Overrated, but will be on the field a lot
  59. Zach Miller, TE, JAX (72) - Might success where Marcedes Lewis has failed and become biggest target in J'ville
  60. Sammie Stroughter, WR, TB (80) - Will be a great slot guy from day one, and could get a shot if Bryant leaves or Clayton is Clayton
  61. Glen Coffee, RB, SF (61) - Still less than sold on him, but must draft for Gore owners
  62. Stephen McGee, QB, DAL (54) - Big fantasy upside if Romo gets hurt, and for the long haul
  63. Brooks Foster, WR, STL (86) - Only WR drafted on a WR poor team
  64. Dudley Guice, WR, TEN (45) - Like Edison, has a shot to step if Britt's hands let him down
  65. Arian Foster, RB, HOU (81) - Houston didn't draft a back, but Kubiak learned that you don't need in Denver
  66. Connor Barwin, DE, HOU (50) - Third down pass rusher + Goal line TE = intriguing fantasy prospect
  67. Nate Davis, QB, SF (82) - Lands in a spot where he could conceivably compete to start in a year or two
  68. Eron Riley, WR, BAL (71) - Major athletic upside and Baltimore didn't draft a WR
  69. Derrick Williams, WR, DET (67) - Promise of potential role next to Calvin is offset by lack on natural receiving skills
  70. Jason Williams, LB, DAL (NA) - Once Keith Brooking is out of gas, Williams will get a shot to start inside
  71. Aaron Kelly, WR, ATL (37) - Fell out of the draft, but there's a WR spot up for grabs in Atlanta
  72. Patrick Turner, WR, MIA (97) - I wish I liked the talent better, because the situation is terrific
  73. Malcolm Jenkins, DB, NO (66) - Best fantasy potential of any CB in the draft
  74. Aaron Maybin, DE, BUF (52) - Good physical upside, but is it worth carrying a developmental DE for 2-3 years?
  75. Brian Cushing , LB, HOU (51) - Doomed to play the strong side, will be overdrafted on first round status
  76. Robert Ayers, DE, DEN (64) - Was never highly productive in college, but will be an every-down guy
  77. Scott McKillop, LB, SF (84) - Spot next to Patrick Willis is there for the taking long term
  78. Jarron Gilbert, DT, CHI (89) - Top five DT potential, not landing on 3-4 team helps his fantasy stock
  79. Javarris Williams, RB, KC (NA) - Average physical prospect, but could get a chance if LJ is cut
  80. Rhett Bomar, QB, NYG (NA) - Worth carrying as a developmental prospect, what does this say about Andre Woodson?
  81. Jeremiah Johnson, RB, HOU (60) - Below Foster because he's not a short yardage back, but could win the backup job
  82. Devin Moore, RB, SEA (NA) - Even though he's only a third down back, it's hard to be sold on the current Seattle backfield
  83. Brandon Gibson, WR, PHI (NA) - Good passing offense, but too similar to Avant
  84. Louis Murphy, WR, OAK (57) - Will likely just blend in on a team stacked with fast WRs
  85. Kory Sheets, RB, SF (58) - Fell out of the draft, but Coffee is overrated and Sheets could push him in camp
  86. Brian Hartline, WR, MIA (NA) - He's not as athletic as his numbers and he came out too early, but will get a shot
  87. Kevin Ogletree, WR, DAL (77) - Came out too early, but landed on a team without a proven WR2
  88. Davon Drew, TE, BAL (NA) - He'll get to develop while Heap is playing out the string and L.J. Smith is not the answer
  89. Chris Ogbonnaya, RB, STL (NA) - Don't be shocked if he emerges as primary backup to Jackson
  90. Derek Kinder, WR, CHI (NA) - Once highly touted, has a chance to move up the depth chart quickly
  91. LaRod Stephens-Howling, RB, ARI (NA) - Don't be surprised if he makes the team and becomes Leon Washington lite
  92. Quentin Lawrence, WR, KC (NA) - Lots of opportunity up for grabs in WR friendly offense
  93. Anthony Hill, TE, HOU (98) - Could be modestly productive as the only true inline TE on the team.
  94. Marcus Freeman, LB, CHI (76) - Good chase LB, but Briggs has the weak side locked down
  95. Jasper Brinkley, LB, MIN (78) - Only seems to fit at MLB, could have potential if Henderson doesn't come all the way back
  96. Tom Brandstater, QB, DEN (NA) - Does McDaniels see some Cassel in him?
  97. Demetrius Byrd, WR, SD (NA) - Questions about his health after car accident, but nothing is certain in long term Charger WR picture
  98. Curtis Painter, QB, IND (NA) - Good shot to become the new Sorgi
  99. Keith Null, QB, STL (NA) - Unimpressive physical prospect, but will get a chance to become future backup, maybe even start?
  100. Alphonso Smith, CB, DEN (93) - Has the perfect mentor in Champ Bailey

Best of the Rest

  • Chip Vaughn, SS, NO (92) - Can he push Roman Harper to FS?
  • Julian Edelman, WR, NE (NA) - New Welker in the making?
  • Jordan Norwood, WR, CLE (NA) - Consistent hands and plenty of opportunity in Cleveland
  • Stephen Hodge, LB, DAL (NA) - Less athletic, but more instinctive than Jason Williams
  • Tiquan Underwood, WR, JAX (NA) - Special teams will keep him on the roster, long term opportunity at the position
  • Nate Swift, WR, DEN (NA) - Gritty WR could be a big physical slot guy
  • Quan Cosby, WR, CIN (91) - Should stick as a useful slot receiver/return man
  • Nick Reed, LB, SEA (99) - Might become backup to oft-injured Tatupu
  • Antone Smith, WR, ??? (90) - Hard to count out a back with his physical ability
  • Frantz Joseph, LB, OAK (63) - Love the player, but he went undrafted and I hate the fantasy situation
  • Ian Johnson, RB, MIN (53) - Could be AD's backup next year if he can hang around
  • Jason Phillips , LB, BAL (83) - Has to contend with Gooden to be Ray-Ray's heir
  • Darius Passmore , WR, ??? (75) - Lots of speed and athleticism, could make a roster
  • Marko Mitchell, WR, WAS (100) - Got drafted, but too inconsistent for my liking.
  • Darry Beckwith, LB, SD (65) - Good opportunity at ILB in San Diego, but it's hard to carry UDFA LBs.
  • Dobson Collins, WR, SF (NA) - May make the roster if Bruce retires after all.
  • Aaron Brown, RB, DET (NA) - May end up being the backup once the dust settles in camp.
