The team has noticed improvement in Jones, which is why head coach Wade Phillips said he would like to get Jones more offensive touches in the coming weeks.

Also, Gerry Fraley and Todd Archer, of The Dallas Morning News, report Jones acknowledged that he probably will not be used as a kickoff returner in the team's Week 10 game. In the last three games, Jones has averaged only 21.4 yards on seven kickoff returns

"He'll continue to rotate, and we'll just see how he does," Reid said of Westbrook. "I'm not going to just throw him in for the whole game." LeSean McCoy has done a nice job when he's been called on, so that gives us some flexibility.

Owens said he fell asleep on his couch Monday, Nov. 9, after practice, and woke up feeling stiff the next morning. He was held out of practice during the week, and the team said he had a strained hip. "Earlier in the week it was painful, but I knew I would be ready," Owens said. "My couch is very comfortable, so it's easy to fall asleep on. [But] I don't know if it was the couch."

"I feel like we're not getting those plays down the field as much for whatever reason," Witten said. "I don't think there's one thing that you can look at and say that's what's triggering it, but a lot of it is underneath [passes]."

*** Saturday Update *** TM Cleveland Browns (CLE) The Associated Press reports Browns head coach Eric Mangini defended the way he runs his practices following comments made by RB Jamal Lewis in which he said Mangini overworks his players. Mangini maintains his practices are not any longer or more physical than ones he's conducted in the past. "I feel good about the way we practice, the time we practice," Mangini said. "Two hours of work on the field is a very reasonable time. The only time that practices are extended is if we don't execute something the right way."

*** Saturday Update *** TM Cleveland Browns (CLE) P Dave Zastudil partially participated in Saturday's practice and is questionable to play in Week 10.

*** Saturday Update *** TM New York Giants (NYG) Ralph Vacchiano, of the New York Daily News, reports Ahmad Bradshaw, CB Kevin Dockery and LB Clint Sintim have each been fined $5,000 for separate actions Week 9. Bradshaw was fined for a personal foul chop block. Dockery was fined for "unnecessarily striking his opponent" when he ran into a San Diego Chargers' punt returner trying to make a fair catch. *** Wednesday Update *** QB Brady Quinn (CLE) The Associated Press reports Browns head coach Eric Mangini has named Brady Quinn the team's starting quarterback for Week 10. Mangini would like to stick with Quinn for the remainder of the season.

QB Brady Quinn (CLE) Adam Schefter, of ESPN, reports the Browns are expected to name Brady Quinn the team's starting quarterback for Week 10, according to two sources. The Browns, however, are not making an official announcement regarding their quarterback situation until Wednesday, Nov. 11. One team source said Quinn and Derek Anderson were informed of the decision last week, though neither has acknowledged he was informed of head coach Eric Mangini's decision. Another team official said Tuesday, Nov. 10, that he did not have any knowledge of Mangini delivering the news to his quarterbacks. Two other sources said they expected Quinn to be named starter.

*** Thursday Update *** QB Tony Romo (DAL) Calvin Watkins, of ESPNDallas.com, reports Tony Romo said he is getting more comfortable with WR Roy Williams. "I was comfortable with him a week ago," Romo said. "It's about improving every day. *** Thursday Update *** QB Kyle Orton (DEN) Frank Schwab, of the Colorado Springs Gazette, reports Kyle Orton said the offense needs more big plays to have more success. QB Michael Vick (PHI) The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Michael Vick said during an interview with NBC that returning to the team next season would be hard and said he "won't be a wildcat guy". The Eagles signed Vick to a $1.6 million contract for 2009, with a team option for the second year at $5.2 million. "It would be an everyday struggle. But I would have to take that time to hone my skills and get better. I'm excited about the opportunity I have moving forward whether it's with Philadelphia or another team," Vick said.

The Associated Press reports former NFL head coach Tony Dungy said Vick could wind up playing for the Buffalo Bills after this season. Dungy confirmed Sunday, Nov. 8, that the Bills did talk with Vick while he was a free agent. "I told Michael to just worry about this year," Dungy said. "It's technically up to Philadelphia. If they want him back, he has to stay there, but I think a dark horse is Buffalo. They talked originally. There was some communication there. I think that could be a good spot.'

Tim Graham, of ESPN.com, reports Bills WR Lee Evans does not think Vick would be a good fit with the team next season. "Probably not. I love him as a player and everything that he's done for the league, but I don't think it'll be anything we'll aggressively go after," Evans said.

On the other hand, Graham reports Bills SS Donte Whitner said he would encourage the team to pursue Vick if he were to become available. "I believe that Michael Vick would be a good fit, and I would encourage whoever to bring Michael Vick in," Whitner said.

Officially, the Bills issued a statement Monday, Nov. 9, regarding any potential interest in Vick. "He is a member of the Philadelphia Eagles and we have no comment on it," the statement read.

Finally, in unrelated news, the Associated Press reports a federal appeals court is backing the judge who ruled against the NFL and let Vick keep more than $16 million in roster bonuses from the Atlanta Falcons. The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Tuesday, Nov. 10, affirmed Judge David Doty's order saying Vick had already earned the bonuses before his dogfighting conviction, so the money wasn't subject to forfeiture. After Doty ruled in the Vick bonus case, the NFL accused him of bias and sought to end his oversight of its contract with the players union. The appeals court says the contract should remain under Doty's oversight.

However, the team gave the tandem the football only 10 times during the game. The Chiefs ran a total of 12 running plays, while QB Matt Cassel threw 39 times. The Chiefs' opponent, the Jacksonville Jaguars, surprised the team by playing mostly a 4-3 defense during the game. "It wasn't what we practiced against," head coach Todd Haley said. "I thought for the most part we had an idea of what was going on. [The offensive imbalance] was all predicated [on the defense]. On a lot of our runs, there was a lot of pressure coming. They were bringing safeties from both edges, run blitzes we call them."

"He had a little bit of swelling, so he had some work done." Exactly what 'work done' meant was not clear. Reid said Westbrook did not have arthroscopic surgery again and was not held out of Week 9 because of the ankle pain. "The reason he didn't play was strictly because of the headache," Reid said.

Edwards will be a restricted free agent after the season minus a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Edwards is expected to seek a long-term deal in the neighborhood of $9 million per season. However, as a restricted free agent, the Jets could play hard ball and sign Edwards to a one-year, $5.5 million deal and retain his rights. Hall said, "I ran over there to kind of pull my guy away. One of their strength and conditioning coaches put his hands on me and started grabbing me. Then it went to various other guys pulling at me and grabbing me." Hall added, "Later on, coach Smith, Mike came over and grabbed me, talking [stuff] to me. Saying he'll kick my [butt] and all this other [stuff]." Hall does not believe that Smith was coming over to break up the fight, and feels something needs to be done about Smith's actions. S Sabby Piscitelli (TB) The Associated Press reports the home of Sabby Piscitelli was burglarized during the team's Week 9 game. No arrests have been made as of Monday morning.

S Chris Horton (WAS) The Associated Press reports Chris Horton damaged a ligament in his left big toe in Week 9 and will miss a minimum of four to six weeks. However, he will be out four to six months if a specialist determines Horton needs toe surgery. There is a possibility that the team will place him on Injured Reserve.

*** Wednesday Update *** S LaRon Landry (WAS) Rick Maese, of The Washington Post, reports LaRon Landry said he has been fined by the NFL but has not opened the envelope. He said he will have his agent appeal the fine.

*** Wednesday Update *** TM Dallas Cowboys (DAL) Tim MacMahon, of ESPNDallas.com, reports Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones declined to discuss the likelihood of picking up head coach Wade Phillips' team option for the 2010 season. Jones said, "Since there's been absolutely nothing in my mind but the fact that I have an option for him next year, that's as far as we need to go. And I'm proud that today, that we've had some success and that the things that Wade can bring to the table are showing. So I'm proud of that, and this does nothing but benefit every fan we've got. It wouldn't benefit our fans at all for me to discuss Wade Phillips' status for next year."

*** Thursday Update *** TM Denver Broncos (DEN) Aaron Wilson, of the National Football Post, reports G Ben Hamilton has lost his starting job to G Russ Hochstein.

*** Wednesday Update *** TM Houston Texans (HOU) John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports the Texans have considered elevating RBs Chris J. Henry and Arian Foster from the practice squad to the active roster. "Yeah, we're watching Chris and [rookie running back] Arian [Foster] every day," head coach Gary Kubiak said. "We can activate one of those players any time. It's a topic that comes up. We're discussing a lot of issues as we move forward."

TM Kansas City Chiefs (KC) NFL.com reports the Chiefs have released RB Larry Johnson.

Adam Teicher, of The Kansas City Star, reports the Chiefs are likely to use a running-back-by-committee with Johnson gone. The committee will include RBs Kolby Smith, Jamaal Charles and Dantrell Savage. Charles started and played more snaps in Week 9, but Smith could eventually take more of the workload. The team still appears hesitant to give the ball to Charles in running formations.

*** Thursday Update *** TM Oakland Raiders (OAK) David White, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reports Raiders head coach Tom Cable would not name the starting receivers for Week 10 but said he intends on playing WRs Chaz Schilens, Louis Murphy and Darrius Heyward-Bey on a rotational basis.

White also reports Cable said he would like to use RBs Darren McFadden, Justin Fargas and Michael Bush in Week 10.

*** Wednesday Update *** TM Oakland Raiders (OAK) Jason Cole, of Yahoo! Sports, reports the Raiders are reportedly cooperating with the NFL in the investigation of head coach Tom Cable because, according to one source familiar with the case, managing general partner Al Davis is hoping to gather enough information to fire Cable with cause at the end of the season so that Davis doesn't have to pay Cable.

TM Oakland Raiders (OAK) ESPNews reports the NFL is looking into whether Raiders head coach Tom Cable needs to participate in mandatory counseling.
