Goose Chase - Week 15
Posted 12/14 by Chase Stuart, Exclusive to Footballguys.com
Quarterback By Committee: In the preseason, I wrote an article suggesting the use of a QBBC strategy. After doing well through most of the season, QBBC has imploded due to injuries in the past month. Alex Smith, Jason Campbell and Jeff Garcia have all missed time due to injuries in the past two weeks, and the outlook isn't right. If you started Luke McCown, his 14.3 FP were at least adequate. Jason Campbell scored only 4.8 FP before getting injured, and Alex Smith was injured.
Season to date QBBC points: 237.3 FP (counting McCown for week 14), 16.95 FP/G.
Thankfully, Garcia is back this week. He's a good start against Atlanta.
Defensive Team By Committee: Now, let's examine the preseason DTBC article. The hits keep rolling for the Vikings, who had the top score again last week. Minnesota's D scored a touchdown, forced five turnovers, had three sacks, allowed just seven points and 285 yards - worth 26 points. Please note that Elias Sports Bureau issued a correction midweek, changing one of the Vikings interceptions into a sack and a fumble. That extra sack might help some of you advance in your fantasy playoffs!
Season to date DTBC points: 226 FP, 16.14 FP/G, 1st overall (Minnesota is 1st among NFL teams at 13.387 FP/G; Seattle is second at 13.23)
This week we've got two great matchups - the Titans against the Chiefs, and the Vikings against the Bears. Originally I suggested starting the Titans, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Tennessee have a great week. But Minnesota is hotter, and home, so start the Vikes D again.
Unfortunately, this week other obligations prevent me from running a full length Goose Chase. Best of luck in your fantasy games this weekend!
