Week 5 Early Injury Report

Quarterback

QB Marc Bulger - STL - Bulger, attempting to play through 2 broken ribs, was clearly limited and ineffective. He was replaced by Gus Frerotte during the second half on Sunday. The team will continue to evaluate Bulger as the week goes along.

QB Jake Delhomme - CAR - Delhomme's sore right elbow kept him out of the game on Sunday (listed as doubtful on Friday). GM Marty Hurney addressed the situation on Monday: "There's no surgery scheduled or planned at this time. From the very beginning we've said that. We're re-evaluating this on a day-to-day basis while Jake is going through the rehab process. Rehab is the first option, how the body part feels through the process determines what goes on from day-to-day."

QB Tarvaris Jackson - MIN - Jackson's groin injury kept him sidelined again this week (listed as questionable on Friday).

QB J.P. Losman - BUF - Losman's knee injury (sprained MCL) kept him sidelined on Sunday as expected (listed as out on Friday's injury report).

QB Josh McCown - OAK - McCown missed the game on Sunday due to his foot injury (listed as out on Friday).

QB Alex Smith - SF - Smith left Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks in the first quarter with an injured right shoulder after a hard sack. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along, but there isn't a lot of reasons for optimism about this injury.

Running Back

RB Joseph Addai - IND - Addai suffered a shoulder injury during the game on Sunday. He'll be evaluated further during the week. After the game, HC Tony Dungy said Addai could have returned if the situation warranted.

RB Darian Barnes - NYJ - Barnes sat out of the game on Sunday due to his sore shoulder, despite being listed as probable on Friday.

RB Mike Bell - DEN - Bell was sidelined due to a concussion (listed as out on Friday).

RB Robert Douglas - NYG - Douglas' sore knee cost him the game on Sunday (listed as questionable on Friday).

RB T.J. Duckett - DET - Duckett missed the game on Sunday as expected (ankle, out on Friday).

RB Ahman Green - HOU - Green couldn't play on Sunday due to his sore knee (listed as questionable on Friday).

RB Travis Henry - DEN - Henry suffered a right ankle injury on Sunday and missed some game time. "I felt sharp pain in my knee, first. Then my knee and my ankle. But the X-ray came back negative, so that's a blessing." He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along but he looks to be OK.

RB Brandon Jackson - GB - Jackson's sore shin cost him the game on Sunday (listed as questionable on Friday's injury report).

RB Steven Jackson - STL - Jackson was sidelined on Sunday due to his injured groin (listed as out on Friday's injury report).

RB Brandon Jacobs - NYG - Jacob's sore knee kept him out of the action on Sunday, again (listed as questionable on Friday).

RB LaMont Jordan - OAK - Jordan suffered a back injury on Sunday. "We do not know the severity of it," Raiders coach Lane Kiffin said after the game. Jordan will be evaluated further as the week goes along. Dominic Rhodes returns from a 4-game suspension this week.

RB Vernand Morency - GB - Morency's injured right knee is sore again as of Monday - he may not practice early in the week as a result.

RB Alvin Pearman - SEA - Pearman suffered a left knee injury on Sunday and did not return to action. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

RB Brian Westbrook - PHI - Westbrook's abdomen injury kept him out of the action on Sunday. He was officially listed as questionable on Friday. The injury is now being called a muscle tear in his abdominal wall. It's extremely painful and could be an issue going forward.

RB Cadillac Williams - TB - Williams is out for the season due to a knee injury/corrective surgery.

Wide Receiver

WR Anquan Boldin - ARI - Boldin's sore hip cost him the game on Sunday (listed as doubtful on Friday).

WR Isaac Bruce - STL - Bruce suffered a hamstring injury on Sunday - he'll be evaluated further during the coming week.

WR Plaxico Burress - NYG - Burress played through his sore ankle again this week - he's been productive despite the nagging injury.

WR Terry Glenn - DAL - Glenn's knee injury sidelined him on Sunday (listed as out on Friday).

WR D.J. Hackett - SEA - Hackett missed the game as expected (high ankle sprain, out on Friday).

WR Roy Hall - IND - Hall missed another game due to his bad shoulder, as expected (listed as out on Friday).

WR Marvin Harrison - IND - Harrison suffered a left knee injury during the game on Sunday - he returned to action briefly, but was then sidelined by the injury. The team is calling his injury a "bruised knee". He'll be evaluated further during the week.

WR Jason Hill - SF - Hill was sidelined on Sunday due to his sore hamstring(listed as doubtful on Friday's injury report).

WR Greg Jennings - GB - Jenning's sore hamstring is bothering him as of Monday - he may miss practice on Wednesday to rest the injury.

WR Andre Johnson - HOU - Johnson missed the game on Sunday as expected (knee, out).

WR Calvin Johnson - DET - Johnson couldn't play on Sunday due to his sore back - he was listed as questionable on Friday. "He was close for Chicago," head coach Marinelli said on Monday. "I'm not going to say that I expect him to play - we'll have to see how things go this week, but I'm hoping that he will play."

WR Jacoby Jones - HOU - Jones missed the game on Sunday as expected (shoulder, out).

WR Eddie Kennison - KC - Kennison missed another game on Sunday due to his slow-healing hamstring (he was listed as out on Friday's injury report).

WR Dane Looker - STL - Looker suffered a severe thigh bruise on Sunday - the team didn't risk having him fly back with the team Sunday night. Looker stayed in a Dallas hospital overnight for treatment and observation. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

WR Jerome Mathis - HOU - Mathis missed the game on Sunday as expected (shin, doubtful).

WR Santana Moss - WAS - Moss had hoped the Washington bye week would help heal his injured groin. Today, he was not at all certain when he could be available to practice or play, though, so the Redskins acquired some insurance in the form of veteran WR Keenan McCardell. Moss owners should pay attention to his practice participation this week.

WR Eric Parker - SD - Parker's sore toe continues to sideline him (he was listed as out on Friday's injury report).

WR Steve Smith - NYG - Smith of the Giants continues to miss games due to his shoulder injury, as expected (out on Friday).

WR Javon Walker - DEN - Walker's sore knee kept him on the sidelines this week (listed as questionable on Friday)."It started getting a little worse than we thought," Walker said after the game. "It's nothing to do with the surgery, nothing with the surgically repaired knee. It's just some irritation in there, fluid that had built up, and we just felt it would be best to sit this one out."

WR Hines Ward - PIT - Ward missed the game on Sunday as expected (knee, out on Friday).

Tight End

TE Stephen Alexander - DEN - Alexander missed another game due to his sore calf (listed as questionable on Friday).

TE Billy Bajema - SF - Bajema injured his right ankle during the game on Sunday - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

TE Dwayne Blakley - ATL - Blakley (pectoral injury) was sidelined on Sunday after being listed as questionable on Friday.

TE Vernon Davis - SF - Davis missed the game on Sunday as expected (knee, out on Friday).

TE Todd Heap - BAL - Heap tweaked a hamstring on Sunday - the severity of the injury isn't currently known.

TE Bennie Joppru - SEA - Joppru was unable to play on Sunday as expected (knee, out on Friday's report).

TE L.J. Smith - PHI - Smith's sore groin kept him out of the game on Sunday (listed as out on Friday).

TE Matt Spaeth - PIT - Spaeth couldn't play on Sunday due to his sore quadricep (listed as doubtful on Friday).

TE Ben Utecht - IND - Utecht was knocked out of the game by an unspecified injury on Sunday - he'll be evaluated further during the week.

TE Daniel Wilcox - BAL - Wilcox's sore foot kept him out of the action for most of the day on Sunday. He tweaked the injury during the game on Sunday.

TE Kellen Winslow Jr - CLE - Winslow played through a slightly separated shoulder on Sunday: "I have to work around things and I have to make plays when they come my way," Winslow said after the victory over Baltimore.

Kicker

Offensive Line

OL Denver Broncos - DEN - G Ben Hamilton was sidelined due to a concussion (listed as out on Friday). T Ryan Harris also sat out due to his sore back (listed as probable on Friday).

OL Tampa Bay Buccaneers - TB - Tackle Luke Petitgout suffered a knee injury that is believed to be season ending.

OL Arizona Cardinals - ARI - T Levi Brown didn't play on Sunday (knee, doubtful on Friday's injury report).

OL San Diego Chargers - SD - OT Marcus McNeil tweaked a knee on Sunday, but the injury didn't appear to be serious.

OL Kansas City Chiefs - KC - Turley injured an ankle during the game on Sunday. He'll be evaluated further during the week.

OL Philadelphia Eagles - PHI - T Tra Thomas missed another game due to his sore knee. He was listed as doubtful on Friday.

OL Detroit Lions - DET - G Damien Woody couldn't play on Sunday due to his sore ribs - he was listed as questionable on Friday.

OL St. Louis Rams - STL - G Richie Incognito missed another game on Sunday (ankle, doubtful on Friday's injury report).

OL St. Louis Rams - STL - G Adam Goldberg left the game on Sunday with a knee injury - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

OL St. Louis Rams - STL - RT Adam Goldberg suffered ligament damage as well as other injuries in his left knee early in the third quarter on Sunday, which combined could be season-ending. The Rams' offensive line has essentially disintegrated as of week 4.

OL Baltimore Ravens - BAL - T Jonathan Ogden missed the game on Sunday due to his nagging toe injury.

OL Baltimore Ravens - BAL - C Mike Flynn left the game on Sunday with his left leg heavily bandaged, but said he suffered "just a contusion." He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

OL Seattle Seahawks - SEA - OL Ray Willis suffered a knee injury and was on crutches in the locker room. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along, but initial indications are not good.

OL Pittsburgh Steelers - PIT - T Trai Essex missed the game on Sunday due to his sore ankle (listed as probable on Friday's injury report).

OL Pittsburgh Steelers - PIT - NT Casey Hampton departed the game on Sunday due to a hamstring injury. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along. Backup Chris Hoke left the game with a neck strain, as well.

Defensive Line

DL Jonathan Babineaux - ATL - Babineaux (knee injury) was sidelined on Sunday after being listed as questionable on Friday.

DL Alan Branch - ARI - Branch missed the game on Sunday despite being listed as probable on Friday (hand injury).

DL Derrick Burgess - OAK - Burgess' sore calf cost him the game on Sunday (listed as questionable on Friday).

DL Rod Coleman - ATL - Coleman was sidelined on Sunday after being listed as questionable on Friday due to his sore knee.

DL Ryan Denney - BUF - Denney's ongoing foot injury kept him sidelined on Sunday as expected (listed as out on Friday's injury report).

DL Kalimba Edwards - DET - Edwards couldn't play on Sunday due to his sore ankle - he was listed as questionable on Friday.

DL Ray Edwards - MIN - Edwards suffered a hip injury on Sunday - he indicated it was a minor injury after the game.

DL Justin Harrell - GB - Harrell's sore knee cost him the game on Sunday (listed as questionable on Friday's injury report).

DL Vonnie Holliday - MIA - Holliday suffered a serious ankle sprain/lower leg fracture on Sunday and will miss next week's game. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along. "It's really sore," Holliday said. "I couldn't get it feeling good enough to push off of to go back and help us. I feel like I let the team down. ... I'm going to go in and get rehab and treatment and get it ready for next week."

DL Ndukwe Kalu - HOU - Kalu missed the game on Sunday due to his sore hand. He was listed as probable to play on Friday.

DL Mike Montgomery - GB - Montgomery missed the game on Sunday due to his sore knee (listed as out on Friday).

DL Trevor Pryce - BAL - Pryce missed the game on Sunday as expected (broken wrist, out).

DL Orpheus Roye - CLE - Roye missed the game on Sunday due to his bum knee (listed as questionable on Friday).

DL Marcus Thomas - DEN - Thomas suffered a minor knee injury but did return to the game on Sunday. Afterwards, he said he will be fine.

Linebacker

LB Desmond Bishop - GB - Bishop missed the game on Sunday despite being listed as probable on Friday (shoulder injury).

LB Lance Briggs - CHI - Brigg's sore hamstring kept him out of the game on Sunday. He was listed as questionable on Friday.

LB Anthony Cannon - DET - Cannon missed the game on Sunday as expected (quadriceps, out on Friday).

LB Channing Crowder - MIA - Crowder suffered a serious ankle sprain on Sunday and may miss next week's game. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

LB Isaiah Ekejiuba - OAK - Ekejiuba continues to miss games due to his foot injury (listed as out on Friday).

LB Keith Ellison - BUF - Ellison's bum ankle injury kept him sidelined on Sunday as expected (listed as out on Friday's injury report).

LB Paul Posluszny - BUF - Posluszny's broken forearm kept him out of the game on Sunday as expected.

LB Clint Session - IND - Session's injured hamstring sidelined him on Sunday, as expected (listed as out on Friday).

LB Adam Seward - CAR - Seward continues to miss games due to his calf injury (listed as questionable this week).

LB Brandon Siler - SD - Siler injured his hamstring on Sunday. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

LB Raonall Smith - STL - Smith suffered a knee injury of unspecified severity on Sunday.

LB Cody Spencer - NYJ - Spencer was sidelined on Sunday due to his illness (he was listed as out on Friday's injury report).

DB Al Harris - GB - Harris entered the game on Sunday battling a back injury that probably will bother him all season, and a sore elbow that he sprained in the regular-season opener against Philadelphia. He was able to finish Sunday's game against the Vikings, though afterward his hand (which was stepped on twice) was swollen and sore.

DB Anthony Henry - DAL - Henry left the game during the first quarter after suffering a high right ankle sprain. Henry said the injury is not serious, and X-rays were negative. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

DB Tye Hill - STL - Hill was sidelined on Sunday due to his bad back (listed as out on Friday's injury report).

DB Brian Kelly - TB - Kelly's groin injury sidelined him on Sunday (listed as questionable on Friday).

DB Jim Leonhard - BUF - Leonhard hurt his left calf during the game on Sunday. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
