Week 4 Early Injury Report

Quarterback
QB Jay Cutler - DEN - Cutler had a mild sprain to his left ankle during the game and he received treatment following the game. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along, but initially this doesn't look like a serious injury.
QB Jake Delhomme - CAR - Delhomme injured his right elbow (throwing arm) during the game on Sunday and did not return to action. He had a bandage wrapping the arm and it hung loosely at his side after the injury - it looks like David Carr could be running the show for at least this coming week. Delhomme will be evaluated further as the week goes along, but the team seems concerned about it. "I strained it," Delhomme said after the game. "I made a couple of throws on the next drive and it just didn't feel good. I don't know what it is. I hope everything is normal." Coach Fox had this to say after further examinations on Monday: What the doctors are telling me, it's a strained elbow. There are days until we play this week, so I can't rule anything, other than day to day." Delhomme and Steve Smith owners will want to monitor Delhomme's practice participation later during the week.
QB Tarvaris Jackson - MIN - Jackson's sore groin sidelined him on Sunday (listed as doubtful on Friday).
QB Jared Lorenzen - NYG - Lorenzen was inactive on Sunday due to his sore ankle, despite being listed as probable on Friday.
QB J.P. Losman - BUF - Losman suffered a sprained knee during the first series on Sunday and is likely to be lost for at least a few weeks - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along. "It was getting worse and worse by the seconds," Losman said. "I could stand the pain, but I couldn't deal with the weakness" in the knee.
QB Josh McCown - OAK - McCown injured his left foot late in the first quarter and left for one play. He returned on the ensuing drive but was replaced by Culpepper during the second half. He injured his right foot last week, and also has a fractured index finger on his throwing hand. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
QB Steve McNair - BAL - McNair was pulled after 3 quarters due to tenderness associated with his injured groin. "I could tell he was favoring it [his injured groin] a little bit," commented coach Billick after the game. Keep an eye on McNair's practice participation as the week goes along.
Running Back
RB Ron Dayne - HOU - Dayne (chest injury) missed the game on Sunday after being listed as questionable on Friday.
RB T.J. Duckett - DET - Duckett (ankle injury) missed the game on Sunday as expected (listed as out on Friday).
RB Frank Gore - SF - Team trainers wanted to X-ray Gore's right hand after the game, but were unable to do so at the stadium. He will have it examined further on Monday - no news yet if Gore has reinjured it (he missed preseason after breaking his right hand). Stay tuned...
RB Ahman Green - HOU - Green injured his left knee during the game on Sunday and was sidelined afterwards - the nature and severity of the injury hasn't been determined as of Monday morning. Green will be evaluated further.
RB Justin Green - BAL - Green sat out of the game on Sunday due to his injured thigh (he was active, but did not play in the game).
RB Steven Jackson - STL - Jackson will miss at least one week with a partial tear of his left groin, an injury sustained in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 24-3 loss at Tampa Bay. HC Scott Linehan said Jackson would be week to week.
RB Brandon Jacobs - NYG - Jacobs was sidelined on Sunday as expected, due to his sprained MCL - he was listed as out on Friday.
RB Rudi Johnson - CIN - Johnson suffered a hamstring injury of unknown severity on Sunday: "I came out when it hurt," Johnson commented after the game. He'll be evaluated further to determine the severity of the injury.
RB Julius Jones - DAL - Jones suffered a hard hit from LB Brian Urlacher early in the fourth quarter Sunday night, and needed help getting off the field after he complained of dizziness. Jones, who rushed seven times for 26 yards, didn't return to action. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along, although Jones indicated he felt "fine" after the game.
RB Kevin Jones - DET - Jones returned to action after rehabbing his injured foot throughout preseason - he said after the game "I'm happy it happened. I was comfortable. They (the coaches) just have to be comfortable having me in there. Hopefully, I can have a bigger load next week (against Chicago)."
RB Vernand Morency - GB - Morency missed another game on Sunday due to his nagging knee injury (listed as doubtful on Friday).
RB Maurice Morris - SEA - Morris missed another game due to his sore hip (listed as doubtful on Friday).
RB Oren ONeal - OAK - Oneal missed the game on Sunday due to his sore hamstring (listed as doubtful on Friday's injury report).
RB Tony Richardson - MIN - Richardson was unable to play on Sunday due to his injured forearm (listed as out on Friday).
RB Paul Smith - DEN - Smith suffered a pinched nerve on the left side of his neck and did not return to action on Sunday. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
RB Chester Taylor - MIN - Taylor sat out again on Sunday due to his injured hip (he was listed as questionable on Friday).
RB Fred Taylor - JAX - Taylor suffered a bruised knee after CB Champ Bailey hit him with his helmet on the knee. He did return for 1 more play after the injury, but was sidelined thereafter. Taylor will be evaluated further as the week goes along.
RB Derrick Ward - NYG - Ward has a sore ankle, but is considered probable to play this week vs. Philadelphia.
RB Brian Westbrook - PHI - Westbrook suffered bruised ribs during the game on Sunday and did not finish the game. Initial indications are that no ribs were broken - Westbrook commented after the contest "They feel all right. Thankfully it's not broken so it feels all right." He is also suffering from an abdominal strain that has his next game in question: "We'll know better in the next day or two," coach Andy Reid said on Monday. "Right now he's pretty sore."
RB Cadillac Williams - TB - Williams fought through his sore ribs to play again on Sunday, but a fumble and concerns about his ribs led coach Gruden to bench him late in the game Sunday. Earnest Graham and Michael Pittman played well in relief - it looks like the Bucs could be headed toward a committee running back approach, as coach Gruden commented after the game, "We're going to have to get Earnest Graham more involved."
During his weekly Monday press conference, Gruden said, "To answer your question, Cadillac will be the starting tailback."
But Gruden also said, "We will do everything we can to incorporate Earnest Graham and Michael Pittman as well."
RB DeShawn Wynn - GB - Wynn suffered a twisted ankle during the game on Sunday and had to pull himself out of the game. "I got my ankle twisted the play before and we had a screen (pass) coming to me," Wynn said. "So I had to figure out how to get myself out of there." Wynn will be evaluated further as the week goes along.
Wide Receiver
WR Sam Aiken - BUF - Aiken was unable to play on Sunday due to his sore groin (listed as questionable on Friday).
WR Anquan Boldin - ARI - Boldin has a sore hip, but is considered probable for the game vs. Pittsburgh this week. The injury doesn't look serious at this time.
WR Isaac Bruce - STL - Bruce suffered a blow to the head during the game on Sunday and was "dazed" after the hit. Coach Linehan commented: "We are being very conservative with those kinds of things. We took him in and did several tests at halftime, and he was OK, so he was cleared for some play in the second half." Bruce was limited in playing time due to the injury. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
WR Patrick Crayton - DAL - Crayton appeared to be hindered by his dislocated pinky finger during the game on Sunday, dropping several easy catches - he was eventually replaced by Sam Hurd on the field.
WR Andre Davis - HOU - Davis dislocated a finger during the team's Week 3 game - he'll be evaluated further during the week.
WR Terry Glenn - DAL - Glenn missed the game on Sunday due to his surgically repaired knee (listed as out on Friday).
WR D.J. Hackett - SEA - Hackett missed the game on Sunday as expected (ankle, out on Friday).
WR Roy Hall - IND - Hall suffered an injury to his left shoulder during the game on Sunday - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
WR Jason Hill - SF - Hill missed the game on Sunday due to his sore hamstring (listed as questionable on Friday).
WR Andre Johnson - HOU - Johnson was sidelined due to his sprained knee, as expected (listed as out on Friday's injury report).

WR Jacoby Jones - HOU - Jones injured his shoulder during the game on Sunday - the nature and severity of the injury have yet to be revealed, but the word is that he's out for 2-3 weeks. A MRI was carried out on Sunday evening, revealing a separated shoulder.
WR Matt Jones - JAX - Jones was inactive on Sunday - he'd been nursing a sore heel and is in coach Del Rio's doghouse for "poor body language" and effort so far this year.
WR Eddie Kennison - KC - Kennison missed another game on Sunday due to his injured hamstring (listed as out on Friday).
WR Ethan Kilmer - CIN - Kilmer missed the game on Sunday due to his injured knee (listed as out on Friday).
WR Santana Moss - WAS - Moss aggravated his groin injury during the game on Sunday - he'll be evaluated further on Monday and as the week goes along.
WR Ben Obomanu - SEA - Obomanu missed another game on Sunday due to his injured hamstring (listed as doubtful on Friday).

TE Todd Heap - BAL - Heap suffered a mild concussion during the game on Sunday - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along. Hopefully, he won't suffer from post-concussion symptoms. "I took a good shot, but I feel a lot better now," Heap said later. "I'm really not certain what happened after that, but I did kind of wake up enough to see that I did make that catch."
TE Bennie Joppru - SEA - Joppru missed the game on Sunday as expected (ankle, out on Friday).
TE L.J. Smith - PHI - Smith was sidelined on Sunday due to recent surgery to clean up scar tissue in his groin. He was listed as out on Friday.
TE Matt Spaeth - PIT - Spaeth was unable to play on Sunday due to his injured quadricep - he was listed as out on Friday.
TE Daniel Wilcox - BAL - Wilcox missed the game on Sunday due to his injured ankle (listed as doubtful on Friday).

OL Jacksonville Jaguars - JAX - C Brad Meester missed another game on Sunday due to his ongoing ankle woes (listed as out on Friday).
OL Jacksonville Jaguars - JAX - LT Khalif Barnes was wearing a boot on his right ankle after the game - x-rays were negative (the ankle isn't broken), but he was tender after the game. "At first I thought I'd broken it," Barnes said after the contest. "But I'll be OK. I don't like watching my teammates play if I can't play."
OL Detroit Lions - DET - LT Jeff Backus was forced out of the game on Sunday due to his injured ribs - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along. "I did something during the pregame warm-up," Backus said. "I felt something rip or pop. I've never had a rib injury before. I don't know to what degree it hurt me. That's no excuse for the way I played." OG Damien Woody Woody suffered an apparent rib injury during Sunday's game - he'll be examined further as the week goes along.
OL Green Bay Packers - GB - T Tony Moll (neck) missed the game on Sunday due to his injury - he was listed as probable on Friday.
OL New England Patriots - NE - G Steve Neal missed the game on Sunday due to his injured shoulder (listed as questionable on Friday).

OL Houston Texans - HOU - C Steve McKinney has been lost for the season due to a torn ACL suffered on Sunday. "This is the worst possible thing that could happen," McKinney said after the game. "Right when we've turned this thing around and we're starting to win, this happens. I can't tell you how bad this makes me feel." Mike Flanagan will step in as the starting C in McKinney's absence.
Defensive Line
DL Alan Branch - ARI - Branch was sidelined on Sunday due to his sore hand (listed as questionable on Friday).
DL Derrick Burgess - OAK - Burgess missed the game on Sunday due to his ongoing struggle with a calf injury (listed as questionable on Friday's injury report).
DL Luis Castillo - SD - Castillo left the game on Sunday in the second with a sprained left foot. He returned briefly but was clearly bothered and wore a protective boot after the game. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

DL Philip Daniels - WAS - Daniels required medical attention on the field during the game on Sunday, but the sore foot that sidelined him vs. the Eagles held up O.K. = "My foot felt pretty good, better than it has been, so I was just glad to get back" on the field, Daniels said afterwards. "I felt like I was moving around pretty good and doing stuff to try to help the team. I just got to keep it up every week now."

DL Kalimba Edwards - DET - Edwards missed the game on Sunday due to his sore ankle (listed as questionable on Friday).

However, later on during the day he had regained movement in all his limbs and was in good shape at the hospital - it looks like Killings dodged a serious injury.
DL Stanley McClover - CAR - McClover was sidelined on Sunday due to his sore thigh (listed as probable on Friday).
DL Mike Montgomery - GB - Montgomery sat out of the game on Sunday as expected (knee, out on Friday).
DL Trevor Pryce - BAL - Pryce missed week 3 as expected due to his injured wrist (listed as out on Friday).
