Week 12 Early Injury Report

Quarterback
QB David Garrard - JAX - Garrard characterized himself as "about 95 percent" healed from a high ankle sprain, and played well on Sunday.
QB Brian Griese - CHI - Griese was inactive on Sunday after being listed as probable to play on Friday (shoulder injury).
QB Matt Hasselbeck - SEA - Hasselbeck sustained an apparent rib injury during the team's Week 11 game, although he was not on the team's post-game injury report. It looked like he tweaked a muscle during the game, but didn't miss any time.
QB Shaun Hill - SF - Hill fractured a finger during practices last week and was inactive on Sunday (listed as questionable to go on Friday).
QB Josh McCown - OAK - McCown missed the game on Sunday due to his injured quadriceps (listed as doubtful to play on Friday).
QB Donovan McNabb - PHI - McNabb got banged up in the game on Sunday, jamming the thumb on his throwing hand and spraining his right ankle. X-rays for a break were negative - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along. "Could I have played? I don't think so," McNabb said after the game. "I know what I can and cannot do. And there was no reason for me to go back out there." As of Monday, the injury is not considered a high-ankle sprain, but is just a "normal" sprain, according to coach Andy Reid. "I'm as worried about the thumb as I am the ankle," Reid said. "Both are day-to-day situations."
QB Chad Pennington - NYJ - Pennington did not play on Sunday, after being listed as probable to go with an ankle injury on Friday (he's been demoted in favor of Kellen Clemens).
QB Alex Smith - SF - Smith was active but did not play on Sunday due to his sore right forearm. Smith plans to fly to Birmingham, Ala. on Monday afternoon to meet with orthopedist Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday. Smith has used Andrews as a consultant since separating his shoulder Sept. 30. Andrews has received MRI results from the 49ers but has yet to examine Smith in person. Andrews will evaluate both Smith's shoulder and his right forearm which has weakened and spasmed at times, affecting Smith's grip on the football and his accuracy.
Running Back
RB Shaun Alexander - SEA - Alexander's sore knee kept him on the sidelines this week (listed as questionable to play on Friday).
RB Kevin Faulk - NE - Faulk left the game with a head injury in the second quarter and did not return to action. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
RB Ryan Grant - GB - Grant suffered a mild ankle sprain in the fourth quarter, which caused Grant to leave the game. HC Mike McCarthy said he expected to know more about the severity of the injury on Monday. "I should be fine by Thursday," Grant said after the game.
RB Ahman Green - HOU - Green's ongoing struggle with swelling in his injured knee landed him on the inactive list this week, after being listed as out on Friday.
RB Brandon Jacobs - NYG - Jacobs suffered a hamstring injury during the game on Sunday, but as of Monday it appears to be a minor injury. "I'll be all right. It's no big deal," Jacobs said after the game. "I'll go in tomorrow and get it looked at."
RB Larry Johnson - KC - Johnson missed the game on Sunday due to his injured foot, as expected (listed as out on Friday's injury report).
RB Brian Leonard - STL - Leonard was limited in the second half because of a sore groin muscle, but the injury doesn't look serious at first blush. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
RB Marshawn Lynch - BUF - Lynch missed the game on Sunday due to his injured ankle (listed as doubtful to play on Friday's injury report).
RB Laurence Maroney - NE - Maroney left the game on Sunday due to a foot injury - the severity and exact nature of the injury isn't currently known. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
RB Adrian Peterson - MIN - Peterson missed the game on Sunday as expected (knee, out on Friday's injury report). Dr. Johnny Benjamin is asserting that the LCL ligament needs more time to heal than a few weeks, and that Peterson should be shut down for the season - but that the Vikings' coaching staff are putting wins ahead of Peterson's best interests by rushing to get him back on the field. "Adrian is a competitor and he wants to play," Benjamin said. "But he needs someone to look out for his best interests in the long term."
RB Michael Pittman - TB - Pittman reported after the game that worry over his injured ankle hampered his play on Sunday. "I couldn't concentrate ... because I hadn't been hit and didn't know what my ankle would do," Pittman said. "I wasn't myself early on. I kind of wish I would have waited another week...When you have an injury like I have, you worry about somebody hurting it. That means that instead of me concentrating on what I need to do out there, I'm thinking about that. I wasn't myself. But I'm looking forward to better days."
RB Stacy Tutt - NYJ - Tutt was out on Sunday as expected (knee injury, listed as out on Friday).
RB Derrick Ward - NYG - Ward missed the game on Sunday due to his injured ankle and sore groin (listed as out on Friday).
RB Brian Westbrook - PHI - Westbrook played on Sunday despite reports from coach Andy Reid that he was struggling with swelling in one of his knees. Earlier in the week before the game, coach Reid had said, "Brian Westbrook did not practice today. I have him down as questionable. He's got a little bit of swelling on his knee, and a little soreness there. So, we'll see how he does here." However, Westbrook went on to post a fine day rushing the ball vs. the Dolphins.
Wide Receiver
WR John Broussard - JAX - Broussard sat out of the game on Sunday as expected (ankle, doubtful to play on Friday).
WR Michael Clayton - TB - Clayton played through his sprained ankle but was limited on Sunday. "Clayton got on the field but didn't do much today," coach Gruden said after the game. "He was not 100 percent. Three days off (during the bye week) doesn't do that much for some of these (injured) guys. We're going to need these guys in the coming weeks."
WR Laveranues Coles - NYJ - Coles suffered a high left ankle sprain during the game against the Steelers and it's unlikely he'll play on Thursday against the Cowboys, according to reports out of New York. The team will further evaluate his status as the short week goes on, but chances are he'll be out as of Monday.
WR Marques Colston - NO - Colston suffered a sprained knee on Sunday when linebacker DeMeco Ryans hit him with 1:58 remaining in the first half. Colston headed to the locker room just before the half ended to be evaluated, but he returned and started the second half. He had the injury iced after the game, but it doesn't appear serious as of Monday.
WR Chris Davis - NYJ - Davis was inactive on Sunday due to his injured shoulder (listed as questionable on Friday).
WR Terry Glenn - DAL - Glenn was out on Sunday as expected (knee injury/knee rehab, listed as out on Friday).
WR Anthony Gonzalez - IND - Gonzalez missed the game on Sunday (he was active but did not play) due to his injured hand. The Colts listed him as questionable to play on Friday's injury report.
WR Marvin Harrison - IND - Harrison missed the game on Sunday due to his sore knee - he was listed as questionable to play on Friday.
WR Santonio Holmes - PIT - Holmes left the game in the fourth quarter on Sunday with a right ankle sprain and did not return to action. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
WR Glenn Holt - CIN - Holt left the game after suffering a concussion on the opening kickoff of the second half - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
WR Joe Horn - ATL - Horn's sore hamstring kept him on the sidelines this week (listed as doubtful to play on Friday).
WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh - CIN - Houshmandzadeh left the game late in the fourth quarter on Sunday with a hip injury. He said he was going to have it checked after the game - the severity of the injury isn't currently known.
WR Ashley Lelie - SF - Lelie missed the game on Sunday as expected (quadricep, listed as out on Friday).
WR Aaron Moorehead - IND - Moorehead suffered a back injury in the first quarter on Sunday and did not return to action.
WR Steve Smith - CAR - Smith missed the game on Sunday due to his injured shin (he was listed as questionable to play on Friday).
WR Steve Smith - NYG - Smith was out again this week due to his shoulder and hamstring injuries.
WR Isaiah Stanback - DAL - Stanback missed the game on Sunday after being listed as probable on Friday (shoulder injury).
WR James Thrash - WAS - Thrash was out on Sunday as expected (ankle injury, listed as out on Friday).

TE Dwayne Blakley - ATL - Blakley suffered head and neck injuries early in the game on Sunday and did not play for most of the game. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along, but initial indications are not good.
TE Owen Daniels - HOU - Daniels suffered a broken nose on Sunday, but returned to the game. "It shifted over to the right a little bit," Daniels said after the game. "I came in here, and they popped it back to where it is supposed to be -- almost straight. They bandaged me up nice and I was happy to get back in there... I'm hideous now. Good thing I have a girlfriend already."
TE Bryan Fletcher - IND - Fletcher missed the game on Sunday due to a calf injury - he was listed as questionable to play on Friday.
TE Bubba Franks - GB - Franks missed the game on Sunday due to his injured knee, as expected (he was listed as out on Friday's injury report).
TE Todd Heap - BAL - Heap missed the game on Sunday due to his sore thigh after being listed as questionable on Friday's injury report.
TE David Martin - MIA - Martin was shaken up during the second half on Sunday and did not return to action. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
TE Matt Murphy - BUF - Murphy is now on IR - his season is over (calf injury).
TE Justin Peelle - MIA - Peelle hurt his ribs in the first quarter on Sunday and didn't return until the fourth quarter - he appeared very gimpy in the locker room after the game.
TE Daniel Wilcox - BAL - Wilcox missed the game on Sunday due to his ongoing foot problems (listed as out on Friday).

OL Cincinnati Bengals - CIN - OT Willie Anderson missed the game on Sunday as expected due to his injured knee (listed as out on Friday).
OL Cincinnati Bengals - CIN - LG Andrew Whitworth left the game for one play on Sunday due to a lower leg injury but returned to action. This looks like a minor ding as of Monday.
OL San Diego Chargers - SD - C Nick Harwick missed the game on Sunday as expected (foot injury, listed as out on Friday).
OL Kansas City Chiefs - KC - OT Will Svitek missed the game on Sunday due to his injured foot, as expected (listed as out on Friday).
OL Indianapolis Colts - IND - OT Daniel Federkeil missed the game on Sunday due to a concussion - he was listed as questionable to play on Friday.
OL Indianapolis Colts - IND - RT Ryan Diem aggravated injuries to his right knee and ankle and couldn't finish the game on Sunday. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
OL Dallas Cowboys - DAL - LT Flozell Adams injured a knee late in the fourth quarter, but walked off the field under his own power and didn't seem too fazed by the tweak later in the game.
OL Philadelphia Eagles - PHI - OG Todd Herremans sustained knee bursitis and subsequent swelling during the team's Week 11 game - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
OL Atlanta Falcons - ATL - OT Todd Weiner aggravated his surgically repaired left knee in the second quarter on Sunday and did not go back into the game. He'll be further evaluated as the week goes along. "Todd would have stayed in and played if he could have physically, and that really concerns me," coach Petrino said after the game. "He's tough and has played with injuries and knows how to play with injuries."
OL Detroit Lions - DET - OT Jonathan Scott missed the game on Sunday as expected (hand, out on Friday).
OL Green Bay Packers - GB - RT Mark Tauscher is playing through a sprained ankle right now. "It's one of those deals where, once you sprain something, it's just going to be something you have to deal with," Tauscher said after the game on Sunday. "As time goes on it's going to feel better but I think kind of the way I sprained it and stuff it's going to be something I am just going to have to deal with."
OL New England Patriots - NE - G Steve Neal missed the game on Sunday after being listed as questionable to play on Friday (shoulder injury).
OL Oakland Raiders - OAK - C Jake Grove missed the game on Sunday due to his injured knee (listed as doubtful to play on Friday).
OL Oakland Raiders - OAK - RT Cornell Green sustained a right ankle injury on Sunday. "It was his ankle and didn't look good," coach Kiffin commented after the game, "so, potentially, we could be without Cornell for a while." Green was wearing a protective boot after the game and didn't comment on the injury.
OL St. Louis Rams - STL - C Brett Romberg continues to have trouble with his ankles, and was out again on Sunday.
OL Baltimore Ravens - BAL - RG Jason Brown suffered a concussion during the game on Sunday, but Brown returned to the game. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
OL Washington Redskins - WAS - G Randy Thomas missed another game on Sunday as expected (triceps, out on Friday).
OL Washington Redskins - WAS - RT Todd Wade sprained his left knee early in the third quarter and did not return in a 28-23 loss to the Dallas Cowboys Sunday at Texas Stadium. Wade said he injured his medial collateral ligament while pass blocking and is scheduled to undergo an MRI exam Monday. "In 2001, I had a grade 2 MCL sprain," he said after the game. "I either sprained the MCL again or tore the scar tissue that formed in there and keeps it tight. We're just going to have to take a look at it and see how it is."
OL New Orleans Saints - NO - OT Jammal Brown missed the game on Sunday due to his injured calf (listed as doubtful on Friday).
OL Seattle Seahawks - SEA - OT Ray Willis missed the game on Sunday due to his injured knee (listed as questionable on Friday).
Defensive Line
DL Ikaika Alama-Francis - DET - Alama-Francis missed the game on Sunday due to his injured hamstring (listed as questionable on Friday).
DL Baraka Atkins - SEA - Atkins missed the game on Sunday due to his sore ankle (listed as questionable on Friday).

DL Johnny Jolly - GB - Jolly injured his shoulder in the first quarter on Sunday, but returned to the game. HC Mike McCarthy said he didn't have specifics on the injury after the game, but Jolly told McCarthy he should be OK to play Thursday.
DL Damione Lewis - CAR - Lewis missed the game on Sunday due to his injured shoulder (he was listed as questionable to play on Friday).
DL Trey Lewis - ATL - Lewis suffered a severe right knee injury on Sunday and likely is out for the season. He'll be evaluated further, but initial indications are not good.
DL Trevor Pryce - BAL - Pryce said he tore his pectoral muscle during the game, but added that he did not think the injury would sideline him for the rest of the season. He'll be evaluated further to determine the exact nature and severity of the injury.

LB Mathias Kiwanuka - NYG - Kiwanuka broke his left fibula on Sunday, and it looks like he's done for the season. Official word will come later in the week.

LB Zach Thomas - MIA - Thomas missed the game on Sunday as expected (post-concussion migraines, out on Friday).
LB Jeff Ulbrich - SF - Ulbrich tweaked an ankle during the game on Sunday - the exact nature and severity of the injury isn't currently known.
LB Mike Vrabel - NE - Vrabel is nursing a shoulder injury and was questionable entering the game, but did play sparingly during the contest and recorded a sack.
LB Tracy White - GB - White was unable to play on Sunday due to his bum ankle (listed as doubtful to play on Friday).
LB Lamarr Woodley - PIT - Woodley missed the game on Sunday, as expected (hamstring, out).
Defensive Back
DB Nnamdi Asomugha - OAK - Asomugha left the game early in the third quarter after he absorbed a blow to the head at the hands of running back Chester Taylor. "That's the worst headache I've ever had in my life," Asomugha said. He reports he was not concussed and could have gone back in. Asomugha will be evaluated further as the week goes along.
DB Idrees Bashir - DET - Bashir left the game on Sunday with a right knee injury and did not return to action. He'll be evaluated further - initial indications are that the injury is serious, though.
DB William Blackmon - GB - Blackmon missed the game on Sunday due to his injured foot, as expected (he was listed as out on Friday's injury report).
DB Nick Collins - GB - Collins missed the game on Sunday due to his injured knee, as expected (he was listed as out on Friday's injury report).
DB Hiram Eugene - OAK - Eugene suffered a shoulder stinger on Sunday and was forced from action. The injury is not considered serious at this time.
DB Jamar Fletcher - HOU - Fletcher's appendicitis sidelined him on Sunday, as expected (listed as out on Friday).

DB Keith Lewis - SF - Lewis bruised his leg during the game on Sunday - he should be fine, this looks like a minor injury concern.
DB Rashean Mathis - JAX - Mathis strained his left groin on Sunday, did not play the second half and could miss time as a result of the groin injury. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
DB Quintin Mikell - PHI - Mikell suffered a sprained medial collateral knee ligament late in the second quarter on Sunday and did not return in the second half. An MRI is scheduled for Monday to determine the severity of the sprain.
DB Samari Rolle - BAL - Rolle missed the game on Sunday as expected (listed as out due to illness on Friday).
DB Gerome Sapp - BAL - Sapp missed the game on Sunday as expected (listed as out due to his injured thigh on Friday).
DB Sean Taylor - WAS - Taylor was out on Sunday as expected (knee injury, listed as out on Friday).
DB Kiwaukee Thomas - BUF - Thomas' sore groin landed him on IR - his season is over.
DB Nathan Vasher - CHI - Vasher's sore groin kept him on the sidelines again - he was listed as questionable to play on Friday. Vasher says he'll be back in the lineup, but was talking about returning in December in his post-game comments on Sunday.
DB C.J. Wallace - SEA - Wallace missed the game on Sunday due to his injured knee, as expected (he was listed as out on Friday's injury report).
DB Eric Weddle - SD - Weddle was inactive on Sunday after being listed as probable to play on Friday (knee injury).
DB Greg Wesley - KC - Wesley left the game on Sunday after the Chiefs' third defensive play because of a sore knee. Wesley said he didn't injure the knee on the play but he has been battling soreness most of the season. He'll be further evaluated as the week goes along.

DB Eugene Wilson - NE - Wilson missed the game on Sunday after being listed as questionable to play on Friday (ankle injury).
DB Antoine Winfield - MIN - Winfield played only the first half on Sunday, and was held out in the second to protect his healing hamstring. "I played longer than I thought I would," he said after the game. "So I'm happy with it."
DB Eric Wright - CLE - Wright didn't play after the first quarter on Sunday because of a knee sprain. Coach Crennel said Wright, who was replaced by Daven Holly, will be evaluated further on Monday to determine the severity and exact nature of the sprain.
DB Usama Young - NO - Young missed the game on Sunday due to his sore hamstring (listed as questionable to play on Friday).
