Week 10 Early Injury Report

Quarterback

QB David Carr - CAR - Carr exited the game with a few minutes left in the 4th quarter - he was shaken up on a hard hit. "I got the wind knocked out of me," Carr said after the game. "My head -- I got a little dizzy. I tried to get up but I didn't want to fall back down." The team indicated on Monday that Carr had suffered a concussion, and they are unsure who'll start at QB going forwards - "We'll play whoever's ready." said coach Fox.

QB Jay Cutler - DEN - Cutler was sidelined with an injury to his lower left leg early in the second quarter Sunday. He left the game when his legs and ankles were twisted as Shaun Rogers sacked him, then another Lion hit him as he was going down. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along to determine the exact nature and severity of the injury. Patrick Ramsey replaced Cutler in the lineup on Sunday. On Monday, Cutler commented on the pain in his left fibula: "It hurts now. It hurts to put weight on it. It hurts to run..."Actually, I'm happy it's not broken," Cutler said. "But there could be a hairline (fracture) in there. We'll have to see. Hopefully, it's just a bruise and I'll be able to go next week."

QB Trent Edwards - BUF - Edwards sat out of the game on Sunday as expected (right wrist injury, doubtful).

QB David Garrard - JAX - Garrard missed another game on Sunday as expected after being listed as out on Friday (ankle injury).

QB Kelly Holcomb - MIN - Holcomb was sidelined on Sunday due to his very sore neck, (listed as questionable to play on Friday's injury report).

QB Tarvaris Jackson - MIN - Jackson was knocked unconscious on the field of play on Sunday - he's sustained a concussion and will be evaluated further as the week goes along.

QB Byron Leftwich - ATL - Leftwich was sidelined on Sunday due to his sore ankle - he's not expected back for a few weeks now (he was officially "out" on Friday's injury report.

QB Matt Schaub - HOU - Schaub missed the game on Sunday as expected after being listed as out on Friday (concussion).

QB Vinny Testaverde - CAR - Testaverde was the 3rd QB on Sunday, but the team had no intention of playing him unless they had no choice: "If there was a super, super emergency, we had the ability to run him in and get him suited up," Coach Fox said. "But for that thing to heal, that wouldn't have been in his or our best interest moving forward." Testaverde continues to rehab an Achilles tendon injury.


Running Back

RB Shaun Alexander - SEA - Alexander, who is playing through a fractured wrist, suffered a sprained left knee and ankle during the game vs. Cleveland. He left the game as the knee started to ache after returning to action - he'll have x-rays and further evaluations this week. "It is like sometimes you have to take reality checks and say, 'OK, you know what, what we have been doing is not getting it done so now we have to figure out some way to get it done,'" Alexander said after the game. "You can't win in the playoffs if you can't run the ball. Thank God we are still in first place. But it is hard to win games in the playoffs if you can't run the ball. And we have eight weeks to figure out how to do it."

RB B.J. Askew - TB - Askew sustained an ankle injury of unspecified severity on Sunday - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

RB Chris Brown - TEN - Chris Brown's bum ankle cost him another game on Sunday (listed as questionable on Friday).

RB Frank Gore - SF - Gore was inactive on Sunday due to his injured ankle. After the game, coach Mike Nolan said Gore tested the ankle during pregame warm-ups and the medical staff determined he was not ready to play.

RB Ryan Grant - GB - Grant might have sustained a concussion about halfway through the fourth quarter - he didn't return to the game. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along. On Monday, the team indicated that he shouldn't miss any time due to the injury. This looks like a minor concern as of Monday.

RB Ahman Green - HOU - Green was forced out of yet another game on Sunday due to swelling in his injured knee: "I hurt my knee against Kansas City, and it hasn't been right since," said Green, who exited during the second quarter on Sunday. "I feel like I've been playing with a flat tire all season. A car doesn't run right with a flat tire. Eventually, I'll get it fixed, but I don't think it'll be until after the season."

RB Ahmard Hall - TEN - Hall missed another game on Sunday due to his broken forearm (listed as out on Friday).

RB Travis Henry - DEN - Henry banged up his left knee on Sunday, but returned to action despite the injury - it isn't considered serious as of Monday. "It's all right," Henry said after the game. "The way I hit it was awkward, but I'm cool."

RB Larry Johnson - KC - Larry Johnson injured his right foot/ankle during the game on Sunday and was on crutches after the game. "He couldn't put any weight on his foot coming off the field," head coach Herm Edwards said after the game. "That's never good. We'll just wait until the week progresses and see what happens." If Johnson can't play, the team may turn to Priest Holmes as their starter for at least this week.

RB Rudi Johnson - CIN - Johnson struggled to make an impact while returning from his hamstring injury, and could only scrape up 11 yards on 9 carries on Sunday - he isn't fully up to speed, as you can see.

RB Sammy Morris - NE - Morris is on IR now due to his painful chest/sternum injury.

RB Jerious Norwood - ATL - Norwood injured his right ankle in the first quarter of the team's Week 9 game. He later returned, only to be forced from the game for good in the third quarter after re-injuring the ankle. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

RB Michael Pittman - TB - Pittman missed another game on Sunday after being listed as questionable on Friday's injury report (ankle).


Wide Receiver

WR Sam Aiken - BUF - Aiken's sore hamstring cost him the game on Sunday (he was listed as questionable on Friday).

WR Jason Avant - PHI - Avant was sidelined by his sore groin on Sunday after being listed as questionable to play on Friday's injury report.

WR Deion Branch - SEA - Branch missed another game on Sunday as he continues to come back from a mid-foot injury - he may be getting close to playing soon. On Friday, Branch was listed as questionable to play.

WR Michael Clayton - TB - Clayton missed the game on Sunday after being listed as questionable on Friday's injury report (ankle).

WR Laveranues Coles - NYJ - Coles missed the game on Sunday as expected (concussion, doubtful on Friday).

WR Chris Davis - NYJ - Davis injured his shoulder during the game on Sunday - he'll be evaluated further to determine the nature and severity of the injury.

WR Craig Davis - SD - Davis was sidelined on Sunday due to his sore ankle. He was lised as questionable to play on Friday.

WR Terry Glenn - DAL - Glenn missed another game on Sunday (knee, out on Friday).

WR Anthony Gonzalez - IND - Gonzalez injured his hand and was unable to finish the game on Sunday: "Dislocated my thumb," Gonzalez said briefly after the game. "I caught the ball and as I was turning, (cornerback Randall Gay) had a hold of my thumb . . . and it just popped out of place real fast ." It is unclear how long Gonzalez may be out due to this injury - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

WR D.J. Hackett - SEA - Hackett returned to the field after missing several weeks with a sprained ankle. He is still getting back to 100%, though - "I've still got a ways to go," Hackett said after the game. "Conditioning was the main thing."

WR Marvin Harrison - IND - Harrison sat out of the game on Sunday (knee injury) - (listed as questionable to play on Friday's injury report).

WR Glenn Holt - CIN - Holt lost two teeth on Sunday after his 100-yard return for a TD: "It was in celebration," Holt said. "The bad thing about it was Dhani Jones jumped and hit my helmet at the end and hit my facemask. I lost my two front teeth."

WR Andre Johnson - HOU - Johnson missed the game on Sunday as expected after being listed as out on Friday (knee injury).

WR Chad Johnson - CIN - Johnson injured his neck during the game vs. Buffalo and was briefly hospitalized for tests - which showed that the injury is not serious. A CT scan on Johnson's neck at a hospital was normal, Bengals public relations director Jack Brennan said.

"Everything seems to be fine with Chad as far as his movement and his fingers, arms, legs, et cetera, but he's undergoing an X-ray right now because he had some pain in his neck," Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said in his post-game comments.

WR Eddie Kennison - KC - Kennison missed another game on Sunday after being listed as questionable to play on Friday (hamstring injury).

WR Brandon Marshall - DEN - Marshall suffered a minor foot injury during the game on Sunday, but returned to action despite the injury - it isn't considered serious as of Monday.

WR Ruvell Martin - GB - Martin sat out of the game on Sunday after being listed as probable to play on Friday (back injury).

WR Glenn Martinez - DEN - Martinez hurt his ribs during the game on Sunday and was having trouble standing up in the locker room after the game. "I'm really sore." he commented. Martinez will be evaluated further as the week goes along.

WR Roscoe Parrish - BUF - Parrish left with a thigh contusion before the first half ended - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

WR Steve Smith - CAR - Smith suffered a hip contusion during the game on Sunday - the injury is considered minor.

WR Javon Walker - DEN - Walker missed the game on Sunday due to his injured knee, as expected. He was listed as out on Friday.

WR Troy Williamson - MIN - Winfield was unable to play on Sunday due to personal issues and his injured hamstring (questionable on Friday's injury report).


Tight End

TE Alge Crumpler - ATL - Crumpler didn't play on Sunday due to his sore knee and ankle (he was listed as doubtful to play on Friday's injury report).

TE Greg Estandia - JAX - Estandia missed the game on Sunday due to his injured foot (listed as questionable to play on Friday's injury report).

TE Bubba Franks - GB - Franks missed the game on Sunday after being listed as out on Friday (knee injury). On Monday, coach McCarthy indicated that Franks is likely to miss a few more weeks while the knee heals. Donald Lee was signed to a 4-year contract extension on Monday, an ominous sign for Franks' playing time when he does return.

TE Marcus Pollard - SEA - Pollard was sidelined on Sunday as he continues to rehab his surgically repaired knee (he was listed as out on Friday).

TE Alex Smith - TB - Smith was in and out of the lineup on Sunday as his sore ankle continues to flare up - he limped off the field after his ankle swelled up during a play during the 3rd quarter. The same ankle flared up again on Smith during the 4th quarter, but he was able to continue playing. "It's part of the game. I knew it could happen," Smith said. "I tried to walk it off as much as I could ... After the first initial time, I figured there was no more damage that I could do to it. Just the fact I could walk it off made me think I would be all right to continue."

TE Kellen Winslow Jr - CLE - Winslow is playing through a list of aches and pains, including a sore shoulder and hip. "They're not going to keep me out. I can get hit and dinged up. I'm always coming back; you can count on that. They're going to have to drag me off the field," he commented after the game.


Kicker

PK Josh Scobee - JAX - Scobee sat out of another gae on Sunday due to his injured right quadricep, as expected (listed as out on Friday).


Offensive Line

OL San Francisco 49ers - SF - RG Justin Smiley went down with a dislocated right shoulder during the first quarter on Sunday - Smiley was held still by several people for the procedure to put his shoulder back in the joint. The pain, he said, "was probably the most excruciating I've felt since I've been playing ball." There is no word on how long Smiley will be out due to the injury - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

OL San Francisco 49ers - SF - OT Jonas Jennings missed the game on Sunday due to his sore ankle (he was listed as doubtful to play on Friday).

OL Cincinnati Bengals - CIN - OT Willie Anderson missed the game on Sunday as expected (knee injury, listed as out on Friday).

OL Denver Broncos - DEN - LT Matt Lepsis suffered a stinger on Sunday, but returned to action despite the injury - it isn't considered serious as of Monday. "I just got a stinger," Lepsis said. "I went to tackle the guy on the fumble recovery and right as I went to hit the guy... (I) twisted my neck a little."

OL Cleveland Browns - CLE - C Seth McKinney left Sunday's game after suffering a shoulder injury. He wasn't able to return to action - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

OL Tampa Bay Buccaneers - TB - OL Jeremy Trueblood suffered a shoulder stinger during the game on Sunday. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

OL Arizona Cardinals - ARI - G Elton Brown suffered a knee injury in Sunday's game. He'll be evaluated further as the wek goes along.

OL San Diego Chargers - SD - c Nick Hardwick missed the game on Sunday due to his injured foot - he was listed as out on the injury report.

OL Indianapolis Colts - IND - Tony Ugoh missed the game on Sunday due to his injured neck (listed as questionable to play on Friday).

OL Jacksonville Jaguars - JAX - RG Chris Naeole suffered what appeared to be a rupture of the quad tendon in the first quarter of the team's loss to the Saints on Sunday. "If that is the fact, we would lose him for the year," said Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio. "Chris is a tough, hard-nosed guy. He is one of [the Jaguars'] most dependable offensive linemen." Naeole's replacement, Dennis Norman, went out with a shoulder injury later in the game - .

OL New York Jets - NYJ - T Adrian Jones missed the game on Sunday due to a personal decision - he was listed as probable on Friday.

OL Detroit Lions - DET - OL Jonathan Scott suffered a thumb injury during the game on Sunday - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

OL Green Bay Packers - GB - OG Junius Coston missed the game on Sunday after being listed as questionable on Friday (ankle injury).

OL Carolina Panthers - CAR - C Justin Hartwig suffered a broken thumb on his right hand on Sunday - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

OL Oakland Raiders - OAK - C Jake Grove missed the game on Sunday as expected after being listed as doubtful on Friday (knee injury).

OL Washington Redskins - WAS - G Randy Thomas continues to miss games due to his injured triceps, as expected (listed as out on Friday). C Mike Pucillo also missed the game (back injury, questionable on Friday).

OL New Orleans Saints - NO - C Jeff Faine missed the game on Sunday as expected after being listed as out on Friday (pectoral injury).

OL Seattle Seahawks - SEA - OT Ray Willis missed the game on Sunday due to his sore knee (listed as out on Friday).

Defensive Line

DL Luis Castillo - SD - Castillo injured his ankle on the second play of the second half and appears likely to miss some games. Castillo injured both his right ankle and knee on the play, but the ankle is the injury that looks most severe. after the game, coach Norv Turner said the team won't know the extent of the injury until after further evaluations. "I don't want to comment on how serious it is before they do the tests they do, the MRI, those type of things," Turner said. "But it looks like one that will keep him out a while."

DL Kalimba Edwards - DET - Edwards missed the game due to his sore knee (listed as questionable on Friday).

DL Cornelius Griffin - WAS - Griffin aggravated an old back injury during pre-game warmups and played very little on Sunday as a result. "I was hurting," Griffin said after the game. "It was something that just came up in warmups. It's something I've had since junior college. The good thing was that we got the win. We've got some division games coming up, so I've got to rock and roll. I'll be okay."

DL Justin Harrell - GB - Harrell missed the game on Sunday after being listed as out on Friday (ankle injury).

DL Albert Haynesworth - TEN - Haynesworth suffered a strained hamstring during the game on Sunday - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

DL Travis Laboy - TEN - LaBoy left the game on Sunday with what Coach Jeff Fisher called a "mild concussion." - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along to determine the severity of the injury.

DL C.J. Mosley - NYJ - Mosley missed the game on Sunday due to his injured shoulder, despite being listed as probable to play on Friday.

DL Jarvis Moss - DEN - Moss was out on Sunday due to his injured fibula, as expected. He was listed as out on Friday, and has landed on IR - he's done for the season.

DL Julius Peppers - CAR - Peppers suffered a middle toe injury of unspecified severity on Sunday - he'll be evaluated further as the weeek goes along.

DL Ryan Pickett - GB - Pickett tweaked a knee on Sunday but isn't expected to miss any time as a result of the ding.

DL Greg Spires - TB - Spires missed the game on Sunday despite being listed as probable to play on Friday (calf injury).

LB Eric Alexander - NE - Alexander missed the game on Sunday due to his injured knee (listed as questionable to play on Friday's injury report).

LB Quincy Black - TB - Black missed the game on Sunday after being listed as questionable on Friday's injury report (hamstring).

LB Ahmad Brooks - CIN - Brooks missed the game on Sunday as expected (groin injury, listed as out on Friday).

LB Patrick Chukwurah - TB - Chukwurah missed the game on Sunday after being listed as questionable on Friday's injury report (shoulder).

LB Scott Shanle - NO - Shanle missed the game on Sunday as expected after being listed as doubtful on Friday (hamstring injury).

LB Marcus Washington - WAS - Washington missed the game on Sunday due to his sore hamstring (listed as questionable on Friday's injury report).

LB Tracy White - GB - White suffered a sprained ankle during the game Sunday, but returned to action after receiving treatment - this doesn't look like a serious injury at this point.

LB D.J. Williams - DEN - Williams tweaked his back during the game on Sunday, but returned to action despite the injury - it isn't considered serious as of Monday.

LB Sam Williams - OAK - Williams missed the game on Sunday as expected after being listed as out on Friday (shoulder injury).

LB Patrick Willis - SF - Willis suffered a broken bone in his left hand on Sunday, but team trainers wrapped it and he continued playing. He'll be evaluated further this week.


Defensive Back

DB Nnamdi Asomugha - OAK - Asomugha did not finish the game with an injury to his left leg, and there were conflicting reports as to whether it was a patella tendon injury or a left knee injury. An MRI is scheduled for Monday and the exact nature and severity of the injury will be further evaluated.

DB William Blackmon - GB - Blackmon missed the game on Sunday after being listed as out on Friday (foot injury).

DB Nick Collins - GB - Collins' left knee looked like it might be injured seriously when he was helped off the field in the third quarter, and he was on crutches after the game. But he said he might be back as early as this week, and even if that ends up optimistic, it doesn't look like his injury will land him on injured reserve. "We don't think (either Collins or Corey Williams) has a season-ending type injury) right now," General Manager Ted Thompson said. "You never know." On Monday, the team updated Collin's status "The evaluation was positive. The MRI was positive," McCarthy said. "No surgery is needed." Collins is expected to be out for a few weeks while the knee stabilizes.

DB Sean Considine - PHI - Considine played sparingly in the second half on Sunday because he suffered a shoulder injury of unspecified severity. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

DB Jamar Fletcher - HOU - Fletcher missed the game on Sunday as expected after being listed as out on Friday (appendicitus).

DB Aaron Francisco - ARI - Francisco, returning after missing a game with a sprained right knee, re-injured the knee and had to come out of the game on Sunday. The Cardinals are hoping the problem isn't serious - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

DB Matt Giordano - IND - Giordano suffered an unspecified injury in the third quarter of Sunday's game -he did not return to action and will be evaluated further as the week goes along.

DB Walt Harris - SF - Harris was unable to play on Sunday due to his injured knee) - he was listed as doubtful to play on Friday.

DB Quentin Jammer - SD - Jammer left the game in the second quarter and didn't return to action after re-injuring the same hamstring he hurt a week ago vs. Houston.

DB Herana-Daze Jones - CIN - Jones left the game with a knee injury and did not return to action. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

DB Herana-Daze Jones - CIN - Jones was sidelined on Sunday due to his sore shoulder despite being listed as probable during the week.

DB John Lynch - DEN - Lynch was out on Sunday due to his injured neck - he was listed as questionable on Friday.

DB Mel Mitchell - NE - Mitchell missed the game on Sunday due to his injured groin (listed as questionable to play on Friday's injury report).

DB Dunta Robinson - HOU - Robinson's 2007 season is over after a catastrophic right leg/knee injury: "They (team doctors) told me definitely, for '07, my season is done," Robinson said after the game. "It looks like my hamstring is completely ripped from the bone. It's probably my ACL (anterior cruciate ligament), and it could be more."

DB Bob Sanders - IND - Sanders temporarily left the game midway through the 4th quarter when he was kicked in the groin. The severity of the injury isn't currently known - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

DB Lito Sheppard - PHI - Sheppard had to come out of the game in the 3rd quarter on Sunday. The Eagles announced that it was a left knee injury, but offered no other details. Sheppard did not return - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.

DB Fabian Washington - OAK - Washington, back to fulltime duty after fellow CB Asomguha went out, had his left calf wrapped up after the game - the injury isn't considered serious at this time.

DB Brian Williams - JAX - Williams sat out of the game on Sunday due to his injured hamstring (listed as questionable to play on Friday's injury report).

DB Eugene Wilson - NE - Wilson sat out of the game on Sunday due to his injured ankle, after being listed as questionable on Friday.

DB Antoine Winfield - MIN - Winfield sat out of the game on Sundy due to his ailing hamstring. "I couldn't do (anything), man," Winfield said. "Trust me, it's got to be something major for me to sit out."

DB Ashton Youboty - BUF - Youboty's sore ankle kept him on the sidelies again on Sunday (he was listed as questionable on Friday).
