"I'm not worried about what anyone else is saying. I know that this is my team. I know I'm the quarterback of this team. I'm competitive. I'm not just going to throw in the towel and give in to what everyone is saying. I'm going to go out there, work harder. If you're saying it motivates me, maybe, maybe not. Warner was as upbeat as ever in talking about his new role, while acknowledging his status as a backup quarterback who figures to play regularly is a little bit weird. Let Jake (Delhomme) recover and do whatever he has to do to get back. I'll be ready to go. You kind of miss it (starting). If I knew they were broke the first week, or they were broke now, it honestly hasn't changed my treatment. It doesn't change how I feel. There's a lot worse things. I could be over in Iraq right now. Two broken ribs isn't the end of the world."

"I'll know when I wake up in the morning that day," he said. "But everything is getting better because I'm not pounding on it, and I'm getting treatment. The swelling has gone down."
*** Thursday Update ***

RB Larry Johnson (KC) did not practice on Wednesday.
RB Larry Johnson (KC) criticized the team's slow start and play-calling during an interview with the media on Monday. "I learned a long time ago about coaches. They're always going to do what they want to do. It's usually an ego thing rather than trying to be better or trying to get better or trying to listen to input," Johnson said. "Football is easy. It's not a chess game. It's checkers. When they're looking for the run, you pass. When they're looking for the pass, you run. When they put nine in the box, you pass. When they overload one side, you run to the other side."

"I would love to play this weekend," he said. "I'm getting very close. I have to see the doctor in a little bit and hopefully there will be some good news." "It's most definitely killing me (to not play)," Jacobs said. "But I don't want to go out and ruin my opportunity to be the guy in the future. After implementing a few new runs against Chicago and New England, the Chargers went back to their "bread and butter" and had some success but he believes they gave away some of their tendencies in the process. "The last game we got back to saying, 'You know what, we'll just do the things we're good at, just line up and play,'" Tomlinson said. *** Wednesday Update ***
RB Steven Jackson (STL) did not practice on Wednesday.
RB Steven Jackson (STL) will miss at least one week of action (and maybe more) because of a partial groin tear suffered in the loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rookie RB Brian Leonard will most likely start against the Dallas Cowboys this week.
"A partial tear is the best way of describing it," said Rams head coach Scott Linehan. "What (Dr.) Matt Matava told me, if there is such a thing of good news on something like this, it was much closer to the end of the groin as opposed to the middle which is longer. Im not a doctor. I guess that means there is less time out. I just know he is out for this game."
*** Friday Update ***
RB Brian Leonard (STL) is ready to carry the load Sunday against the Cowboys. "He's going to get the starter's carries," HC Scott Linehan said. Travis Minor will spell Leonard, particularly in some of the third down situations, but Leonard will get the bulk of the work. "We feel that we're going to see exactly what we saw in the preseason," Linehan said. "A guy that runs downhill. The game's not too big for him. He fits right in and just has a knack to get yards."
RB Brian Leonard (STL) is expected to start in week four with Steven Jackson out with a groin injury.

Backus is hurt, and he might not play against the Bears Sunday. He said he suffered a strained intercostal muscle in his rib cage as he warmed up before the Lions' game in Philly.
