QB Kyle Boller (BAL) is expected to start this weekend despite suffering a mild concussion in week 15. "Kyle, clearly, in my opinion, gives us the best chance to win the game," HC Brian Billick said Monday. "We're going to continue to take the tack that we're going to go out and win every week. Kyle played very well, and deserves the opportunity to continue to grow and get what he might out of these last two games," Billick said.

*** Thursday Update *** QB Troy Smith (BAL) will make his first NFL start Sunday after QB Kyle Boller missed his second straight day with a concussion. Smith, last season's Heisman Trophy winner, has played only four series in the NFL. "He's as ready as you're going to be as a rookie," HC Brian Billick said after today's practice. "One thing I don't worry about is that he has a strong personality. You worry what happens if things get ugly with him and pressures...but he will fight through whatever happens. He's a very strong-willed young man." Because of Boller's head injury, Billick acknowledged that Smith could start the season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers, too.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Troy Smith (BAL) With Kyle Boller still suffering from the concussion suffered last weekend, the Ravens may turn to Troy Smith to start his first NFL game this weekend. "Confidence with me has never really been a problem because I don't have anything to prove," said Smith, who took all the snaps with the first-team offense Wednesday. "I don't have anything to prove to anybody, just the guys in this locker room and me getting better."

*** Thursday Update *** QB Matt Moore (CAR) will start in place of Vinny Testaverde again this week when the Panthers face Dallas. The team has no plans to limit the playbook with Moore under center. "Last week was a pretty complete playbook," Moore said. "I don't think they held anything back."

"He seemed to get better and better as the practice went along as far as his thumb and throwing the football," HC Wade Phillips said. "It looks like he's going to play to me. I thought maybe we would hold him out of some of the things if he couldn't throw all the passes, but he threw long passes, he threw outs, he threw comebacks, he threw short passes. He's still a little bit sore, basically on the follow-through with his thumb."

QB Tony Romo (DAL) was at practice on Tuesday, but he didn't do more than lob the ball because of continued soreness with the thumb on his passing hand. Afterward, his hand was wrapped with ice and a stimulation machine. "He said he felt better," HC Wade Phillips said, adding that the bruising and swelling had gone down.

"Obviously, I wish he signed the thing, because I've always wanted him to be a part of what we do," Nolan said. "With his performance, the way it's gone, he could be a bigger part of what we do." Hill's agent Robert Lattinville said that talks at this point are "a little premature."

Bush said he felt good after Wednesday and remains optimistic that he might be able to return to the field Sunday.

"It felt pretty good," said Bush. "We'll see how it goes and make a decision when the time comes." Bush added that unless he can fully participate in the game, he'd not likely play. "It's a team decision, not just mine. If I'm going to play, I'm going to go 110 percent. I'm not just going in half. If that's the case, I won't even play. Whenever the time comes for me to play, I'm going to give it my all." HC Sean Payton said after Wednesday's practice it was obvious that Bush was not yet at full speed.

RB Reggie Bush (NO) HC Sean Payton is "optimistic" that Reggie Bush could play in Sunday's game against Philadelphia. Bush has missed the last two games because of a torn posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, but plans to practice this week. "He's a little bit ahead of schedule. That's been encouraging," Payton said Monday. "I think he's feeling a lot stronger on it. He's obviously moving around a lot better on it."

RB Chris Henry (TEN) returned to the team on Monday after serving a 4-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy on anabolic steroids and related substances. HC Jeff Fisher said the team had requested a roster exemption through the weekend so they can see what kind of shape Henry is in. There's a chance he could make his season debut Saturday.

WR Brandon Marshall (DEN) pleaded not guilty Tuesday to driving under the influence. Marshall was arrested in downtown Denver early on the morning of Oct. 22nd, hours after the Broncos beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-28 in Denver. Marshall also faces charges of driving the wrong way on a one-way street and failing to drive in a single lane.
