Quarterback
*** Saturday Update ***
QB Vinny Testaverde (CAR) was supposed to start Sunday's game against New Orleans, but he experienced back stiffness on Saturday morning and has been added to the injury report as questionable.
*** Saturday Update ***
QB David Garrard (JAX) says the game is finally slowing down for him. "I feel like it is, definitely," Garrard said. "But I don't want to feel that way to a point of where I get too relaxed. Then, I would be taking things for granted. I still have to be sharp. I still have to be on top of my game. I think a little bit of that edge helps you to keep focus. I've always said I'll let my action on the field determine everything. If I throw for just 100 passing yards, but I'm efficient enough and that's how we win, then great. I'll let all the accolades and stuff come with us winning."
*** Saturday Update ***
QB JaMarcus Russell (OAK) will have to wait at least another week before getting a chance to start. Raiders HC Lane Kiffin said Russell will remain the No. 3 emergency quarterback for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. "I would phrase it as it's likely that the first time that JaMarcus will play will probably not be in a starting role," Kiffin said. "I would say that's safe to say. Most likely, if JaMarcus plays this year, it'll be in a limited role initially."
*** Saturday Update ***
QB A.J. Feeley (PHI) will get the start for Philadelphia this weekend in place of the injured Donovan McNabb.

Wide Receiver
*** Saturday Update ***
WR Devin Hester (CHI) has only two receptions in the last three games, but that doesn't mean he's not continuing to make progress at his new position. "It's tough to jump from cornerback to receiver in one year and immediately play well," QB Rex Grossman said. "He has all the physical tools, runs good routes and catches the ball well. I think he needs more experience in the timing and the depth of the routes and getting out of his break and having more experience with our system. I would expect him next year to be challenging to be a full-time starting wide receiver."
Tight End
Kicker

Defensive Line
*** Saturday Update ***
DL Tommie Harris (CHI) missed practice on Friday resting his left knee but should start.
Linebacker
*** Saturday Update ***
LB Derrick Pope (MIA) was unexpectedly taken to South Jackson hospital for unknown reasons. He missed practice Saturday and is uncertain for the Week 12 game at Pittsburgh. "We're gathering information. Obviously Derrick's somebody that we care a lot about. I'll find out more but I don't want to speculate on what the situation is," HC Cam Cameron said.
Defensive Back
*** Saturday Update ***
DB Chris Harris (CAR) was added to the injury report as probable with an undisclosed illness.
*** Saturday Update ***
DB Eric Wright (CLE) has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Texans with a sprained right knee. The rookie wasn't on crutches Friday and sounded optimistic that he would play again this season. WKYC-TV continued to report that Wright will miss four to six weeks. "That's funny. I know I never said anything like that, I don't think anybody said anything," Wright said. Asked whether the sprain involved his medial collateral ligament, Wright said, "It's a little banged up. Nothing big or anything." Daven Holly will take over for Wright, with rookie Brandon McDonald playing in the nickel.
*** Saturday Update ***
DB Rashean Mathis (JAX) has never missed a game in his four-year tenure with the Jaguars. If Mathis has his way this Sunday, he won't miss the game against the Buffalo Bills, either. Mathis said his twice-daily treatments have paid dividends. He practiced Friday, saying the groin muscle "felt good," and he expects to be in the starting lineup against the Bills. "It's a conference game, so it's big," Mathis said. "I haven't missed one yet, and I don't plan on missing one. It's looking good, a lot better."
*** Saturday Update ***
DB Quentin Jammer (SD) has recovered from his strained hamstring after missing the last two starts and there's a chance he'll be back with the first unit Sunday. "A game-time decision," Turner said. It's believed Jammer will start because of his strong run support among the cornerbacks.

QB Joey Harrington (ATL) will start at quarterback against the Indianapolis Colts Thursday night in place of the injured Byron Leftwich. HC Bobby Petrino avoided saying whether Harrington will remain as Atlanta's starter for the rest of the season. *** Wednesday Update ***

When asked if the injury was a big deal, he said: "Nah, it's all right. It's good." Romo was injured in the first half and had trouble squeezing the ball the rest of the game. Because the Cowboys' defense played so well, Romo decided not to take many chances and throw safer passes. Coach Wade Phillips said the injury was "no problem."
QB A.J. Feeley (PHI) will get the start for Philadelphia this weekend in place of the injured Donovan McNabb.
*** Saturday Update ***
QB Donovan McNabb (PHI) will miss the game this Sunday against the New England Patriots because of a sprained ankle and injured thumb.
*** Friday Update ***
QB Donovan McNabb (PHI) did not practice on Friday and the feeling is that he's not expected to play this weekend. He'll be a game time decision though. "If I feel like he can get out there and function then I'd go that direction," Reid said. "He'd love to play. You just got to make sure that he's okay. I'm not going to put him out there with swollen ankles and swollen thumbs. I'm not going to do that. We'll just see how it goes here. Today's important, the rest of today is important, and then tomorrow. We'll just see how it goes."
*** Thursday Update ***
QB Donovan McNabb (PHI) rested his sprained right ankle on Thursday. The ankle injury moved in front of his swollen right thumb as the reason he might not be able to play this weekend. "Both things are sore, but right now the ankle is more swollen than the thumb," Reid said. "He had a little bit more swelling Tuesday. We're working to get that out of there." McNabb was noncommittal when asked if he would play this weekend. "It's hard to say right now," McNabb said. "I can definitely say it has progressed the last two days. I've been working with the training staff and I've tried to alleviate the pain and swelling." Shortly thereafter, McNabb described his sprain as severe. "Any sprained ankle is severe," McNabb said. "I think the way it swelled up, it kind of took me away from a lot of different things. A lot of us have had sprained ankles - severely sprained ankles - so it takes time. You want to make sure you have all your faculties intact before you get competitive again." As for McNabb's thumb, he is still not able to grip the football as well as he would like. "It was jammed, and the swelling just came quickly," McNabb said. "I guess that would be a positive."
*** Wednesday Update ***
QB Donovan McNabb (PHI) sat out of Wednesday's practice with a swollen ankle and thumb on his throwing hand. His status remains up in the air for this Sunday. "Right now the ankle is a little more swollen than the thumb," HC Andy Reid said. "We'll take it day by day and see how he goes."
QB Donovan McNabb (PHI) HC Andy Reid said Monday that an MRI revealed swelling in QB Donovan McNabb's injured ankle. However, he also has a swollen thumb on his throwing arm is just as much of a concern to Reid. "I'm as worried about the thumb as I am the ankle," Reid said. "Both are day-to-day situations." Reid said McNabb injured his right thumb at some point late in the first quarter and it swelled up later. McNabb left the game late in the second quarter with the ankle injury, which Reid reiterated is not a high ankle sprain. 'An MRI showed he has some swelling in there," Reid said. "We can kind of pinpoint the tender spots."
*** Friday Update ***
QB Matt Hasselbeck (SEA) practiced fully on Friday and is officially questionable to play this weekend. However, he is expected to start. "I was Tylenol-free today, so that's good," said a smiling Hasselbeck. "I feel as close to 100 percent as I've felt."

*** Wednesday Update ***
QB Matt Hasselbeck (SEA) did not practice on Wednesday as expected. He is still on track to start this weekend.
QB Matt Hasselbeck (SEA) HC Mike Holmgren said on Monday that Matt Hasselbeck would likely not practice much during the coming week, allowing him time to rest his injured ribs. "I talked about it with him today. What he has to do is prepare himself to play without getting the practice time. And I think he can do this. It's not unprecedented at the quarterback position. He can pull it off," Holmgren said.
*** Friday Update ***
QB Shaun Hill (SF) partially participated in Friday's practice but is still expected to be available to play this weekend.
*** Friday Update ***

*** Wednesday Update ***
QB Alex Smith (SF) will need at least two more weeks to rest his injured right shoulder, and he may yet require surgery. "It's a third-degree separation, which is what our doctors diagnosed originally," team spokesman Aaron Salkin said. "He needs a couple of more weeks of rehab, then we'll see where he's at."
QB Vince Young (TEN) bruised his right quadriceps muscle. HC Jeff Fisher said the injury might limit Young in practice this week, but the quarterback is expected to play in week 12.

*** Wednesday Update ***
RB Marshawn Lynch (BUF) did not practice on Wednesday.
RB Marshawn Lynch (BUF) According to HC Dick Jauron, the Bills stand a good chance of still being without Marshawn Lynch in week 12. "It is a substantial sprain and injury," said Jauron. "I'm not optimistic, but again I wouldn't count him out because he's young and different." Lynch wore an immobilizer boot on his left ankle all of last week, but Jauron said he did not wear it all day Sunday. "He was (wearing it) up until the end of the week, but he wasn't for a good deal of (Sunday)," Jauron said.

RB Ahman Green (HOU) may not play this week or the rest of the season for that matter. HC Gary Kubiak said waiting on Green's injury to heal is becoming harder and harder when other areas on the team need to be addressed. "But we're trying to be as patient as we can and make sure that we give him every opportunity to feel like he can fight through this and help us before we would make a decision of that nature (placing him on IR)." Kubiak said.
*** Thursday Update ***
RB Darius Walker (HOU) is practicing well, but his status for this weekend's game is unclear. HC Gary Kubiak was asked if Walker would play against the Browns. "I don't know. We'll see," said Kubiak. "I don't know if we'll suit up two or three (running backs). It'll be between Darius or Joe (Echemandu) if we suit two halfbacks. I just wanted to put him in position to where he can be ready to help this football team so he's active. And I'm kind of evaluating how he's practicing, him and Joe together. We'll make a decision from there."
*** Saturday Update ***

RB Ricky Williams (MIA) practiced all week but will be a game-time decision this weekend.
*** Wednesday Update ***
RB Ricky Williams (MIA) took the practice field Wednesday with the Miami Dolphins for the first time since the 2005 season. Williams worked with RB coach Bobby Jackson for the first 15 minutes of practice while other running backs were in special teams drills.
RB Ricky Williams (MIA) began his two week roster exemption Monday by lifting weights at the team complex as part of a voluntary workout. Williams will attend his first practice with the team on Wednesday. "His speed is there," agent Leigh Steinberg said after speaking with Williams earlier Monday. "I guess he surprised himself in how well he cut and move, and his burst and all that was excellent. Of course, the concept of football shape and lasting for hours is still something that no player gets back until they played." That could come as soon as the Monday Night Football against the Steelers next week. Williams will be available if HC Cam Cameron decides to activate him, something the coach wasn't yet ready to discuss. When Williams officially weighed in with the team Monday, he was reportedly at 231 pounds. That's 18 pounds more than his weight during the 2005 season.

*** Thursday Update ***
RB Adrian Peterson (MIN) partially participated in Thursday's practice. He will need to improve a good deal in order to play this weekend and seems very unlikely to play.
*** Wednesday Update ***
RB Adrian Peterson (MIN) partially participated in Wednesday's practice. He did some individual work but did not take part in the team drills. HC Brad Childress said Peterson's status remains day-to-day, but he was happy that Peterson has made enough progress simply to get back on the practice field.
RB Adrian Peterson (MIN) has begun working out in a pool and has been fitted for a custom-made brace. But in order to play against the Giants this week, Peterson would need to be on the practice field by Thursday at the latest. He has made good progress in his rehabilitation, but practicing in two or three days seems overly optimistic, according to HC Brad Childress. As has been the case from the start, a more realistic target date is the Dec. 2 game against Detroit.

His availability for Sunday against the Carolina Panthers will be a game-time decision although the feeling is cautiously optimistic. "He took a fair amount of the reps prior to today," HC Sean Payton said of Bush, "so we'll just have to see where he's at with the shin. He's got this bruised (left) shin that we're treating and we'll see where he's at." Check the Sunday Update page to get the official word.

RB Michael Bush (OAK) won't play this year, but he will have a shot to be the team's starting RB in 2008. "I talked to him about today he's competing to be the starting running back next year, and he should go about every day that way," HC Lane Kiffin said. "The way he works in the weight room, the way he pays attention in the meetings and how serious he prepares."
*** Wednesday Update ***
RB Michael Bush (OAK) was expected to be activated this week (in place of either LaMont Jordan or Dominic Rhodes). However, he wasn't practicing with the team this morning, and the Raiders have chosen not to activate him. This means he can't play this season. A reason cited by HC Lane Kiffin for not activating Bush was that they didn't want a division rival (read Kansas City, who has a glaring need at the position) to sign either Jordan or Rhodes.
*** Wednesday Update ***
RB LaMont Jordan (OAK) told team officials Monday he wanted out after being benched the past two games, a source familiar with the situation said on the condition of anonymity.
RB LaMont Jordan (OAK) has fallen out of favor with HC Lane Kiffin and will watch RB Justin Fargas start the remainder of the season. Kiffin said Jordan lost his effectiveness after an injured back. Jordan is publicly taking it well, declining comment other than to say, "They have to sit somebody out. This week, I was the guy." Jordan, whose salary jumps from $1 million this season to $4.7 million next season, will likely hit the free agent market during the offseason.
*** Thursday Update ***
RB Dominic Rhodes (OAK) is eager to get more playing time and says he may not have signed with the Raiders if he had known he wouldn't have a very big role in the offense. "I have put a good product on the field, and I'm not really understanding why I can't get a shot here," Rhodes said. "Basically, I just want to help this team win. Hopefully, my opportunity will come sooner or later."

His agent, Josh Luchs, has confirmed that Henry dropped his appeal, which was scheduled to be heard Monday. The move would allow the rookie to return for the Titans' final two regular season games. "We hope he learns from the mistake, that we can use this as a positive example of how important the rules are and that how critical it is that players be very, very careful to what they put in their bodies," HC Jeff Fisher said.
