Quarterback

QB D.J. Shockley (ATL) underwent a successful surgery Tuesday morning to repair his left anterior cruciate ligament.

*** Thursday Update *** QB Kyle Boller (BAL) The Ravens reached an agreement on a one-year contract extension on Thursday with QB Kyle Boller, reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter. Boller is now under contract with Baltimore through the 2008 season. Boller is expected to sign the contract on Friday. Exact terms are not known, but Boller's extension is known to be worth more than $3 million.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Kyle Boller (BAL) The Ravens have approached backup Kyle Boller about a contract extension, a league source said. Boller, a 2003 first-round pick, is entering the final year of his contract and would become an unrestricted free agent in March.

QB Charlie Frye (CLE) The Browns have named Charlie Frye the starter for their week 1 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. HC Romeo Crennel indicated the position would be evaluated on a weekly basis and said Frye would start week 1 because of his experience playing against Pittsburgh. Crennel would not say whether Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn would backup Frye. "I think that gives us the best chance to win," Crennel said.

*** Saturday Update *** QB Jon Kitna (DET) says he feels like he has twice as much territory to explore in the passing game this season due to new talent at the WR position. Rookie Calvin Johnson and veteran free agents Shaun McDonald and Troy Walters have been added to last year's starting receiver tandem of Roy Williams and Mike Furrey, giving Kitna options he lacked in 2006. "Last year I played on half a field," Kitna said. "My reads basically were Roy and Mike. Now I feel like I've got the whole field to deal with. That's exciting for me."

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Jon Kitna (DET) practiced fully on Wednesday and barring a setback is expected to start this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** QB Dan Orlovsky (DET) did not practice all week but is questionable for this weekend.

QB Jake Plummer (FA) The Buccaneers announced on Monday that they have placed quarterback Jake Plummer on their reserve/ Did Not Report list.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB David Garrard (JAX) The Tennessee Titans are disappointed in the latest news out of Jacksonville that David Garrard has replaced Byron Leftwich as the starting quarterback. "Who wants to play Garrard?" Titans DT Albert Haynesworth said. "That guy runs all over the field, he is everywhere. He makes plays with his feet and is a very strong guy. It is like playing against a younger Steve McNair." Garrard threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns against the Titans in a 37-7 victory last season.

*** Friday Update *** QB Tom Brady (NE) partially participated in Friday's practice but is expected to start as normal this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** QB Tom Brady (NE) partially participated in Thursday's practice. "One thing I'm doing a little bit different is that I'm really monitoring my throws in the preseason," Brady said. "Before I'd come out and I'd throw 100 balls a day. After a while, you throw 100 balls here at practice, that's 200 balls a day in two-a-days, and you go, `After four days, why is my arm sore?' Well, because you're throwing (so much)." He will start as normal this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Tom Brady (NE) will probably be on the injury report each week with a right shoulder injury. However, until further notice, he'll practice fully and be expected to start every week as normal.

*** Friday Update *** QB Chad Pennington (NYJ) practiced fully on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** QB Chad Pennington (NYJ) practiced fully on Thursday.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Chad Pennington (NYJ) practiced fully on Wednesday and barring a setback is expected to start this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Josh McCown (OAK) HC Lane Kiffin did not announce his starting quarterback Wednesday, saying he will keep the Detroit Lions guessing whether Josh McCown or Daunte Culpepper will be the man Sunday. "It's simply a matter of always trying to gain a competitive advantage," Kiffin said. Kiffin said he told the quarterbacks who won the job Tuesday and that the rest of the team found out during practice Wednesday. However, NFL analyst Adam Schefter reported that McCown will be the starter.

*** Friday Update *** QB A.J. Feeley (PHI) practiced fully on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** QB Brian St. Pierre (PIT) practiced fully on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** QB Brian St. Pierre (PIT) partially participated in Thursday's practice.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Brian St. Pierre (PIT) partially participated in Wednesday's practice.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Jeff Garcia (TB) HC Jon Gruden said he's never had the opportunity, or the right quarterback, to use the shotgun - until now. QB Jeff Garcia enjoys working out of the gun and will get his chance as the team has been dabbling in it some this preseason. Gruden said Garcia has the tools to make it work as well; Snap concentration, a quick release and the ability to avoid the rush with his feet. "You try to do some things that your quarterback likes and does really well," Gruden said. "And right now we have some players who have allowed us to change our offensive mentality. And with that, well, here's the shotgun."

QB Mark Brunell (WAS) HC Joe Gibbs said in an interview on Monday that he knows whether Mark Brunell or Todd Collins will serve as the team's back-up quarterback to Jason Campbell heading into the regular season. However, he will not yet reveal that information. "I already know what I'm going to do," Gibbs said. "I just haven't had a chance to talk with them. There's no rush on it. We have two veteran guys there. I'll sit down and talk to them and by the end of the week, we'll have it set."

*** Saturday Update *** QB Todd Collins (WAS) is the backup quarterback for the Washington Redskins, with Mark Brunell demoted to third-string status. The news was hardly a surprise, given that Collins has been working with the second-string unit during practice, but HC Joe Gibbs waited until Wednesday to inform the players. "I was disappointed, but it's coach's decision," said Brunell. "It could've gone either way simply because you have two guys that are certainly qualified to be a backup. Weird, maybe a little bit, but that's OK."

Running Back

*** Thursday Update *** RB Warrick Dunn (ATL) will serve as the team's third-string (emergency) quarterback in Week 1 unless the team signed another quarterback to the 53-man roster before kick-off.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Warrick Dunn (ATL) will get the starting nod this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. "One thing is that Warrick has been there for along time and the rust will come off quickly," said Falcons HC Bobby Petrino after Wednesday's practice. "We expect to get him in there as the starter, give him the ball and let him go."

*** Thursday Update *** RB Artose Pinner (ATL) HC Bobby Petrino said during an interview on Wednesday that RB Artose Pinner could serve as the team's short yardage and goal line running back in the weeks to come. "Obviously [we liked] his physicalness, his ability to run the ball downhill," Petrino said. "We're looking for a back who can help us in short-yardage, goal-line situations. Someone who is more physical than the two that we have carrying the ball for us right now. I liked his explosiveness."

RB Lousaka Polite (CHI) The Chicago Bears signed fullback Lousaka Polite. Prior to Tuesday, Jason McKie was the only fullback on the Bears' 53-man roster. Backup FB Obafemi Ayanbadejo is suspended for the first four regular-season games without pay for violating the NFL's policy on steroids and related substances. Polite spent the previous 3 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.

*** Friday Update *** RB Lawrence Vickers (CLE) partially participated in Friday's practice but is still expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Lawrence Vickers (CLE) partially participated in Thursday's practice.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Lawrence Vickers (CLE) partially participated in Wednesday's practice.

RB Mike Bell (DEN) is not thrilled with the fact he has permanently moved to fullback, but the Broncos believe he can be a standout at the position after being moved from tailback to fullback last week. He is competing with Cecil Sapp to start at the position. "I'm just sucking it up and trying to make the best of it," Bell said. "Now, it's my job to win the fullback job."

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Travis Henry (DEN) had missed time with a knee injury earlier but is back and practicing fully and ready to start for Week 1.

*** Saturday Update *** RB Tatum Bell (DET) The Raiders cracked on Tatum Bell this week by naming a fumble-recovery drill after him. Last year, Bell fumbled 5 times, all of which he lost. News of the drill didn't sit well with Bell on Friday. "I'm still pissed off. I'm a little ticked off," Bell said. "Maybe it's motivating (for) them. I don't know why. I never had a fumble against them, so I don't know why they feel it's a problem. Oh, well. I'm going to look forward to playing them."

*** Friday Update *** RB Kevin Jones (DET) partially participated in Friday's practice but is not expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Kevin Jones (DET) partially participated in Thursday's practice. Jones said he will likely have to play hurt all season long while coping with his surgically repaired Lisfranc fracture in his left foot. He said he felt sore after Monday's practice, but he'll continue to receive treatment and practice with pads. "It felt better. I expected it to be sore. It was. They said it was going to be sore all season. Just being able to manage the pain is going to be my key," Jones said.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Kevin Jones (DET) partially participated in Wednesday's practice.

RB Kevin Jones (DET) will start the season on the active roster but has no idea when he will play. "I want to definitely be back before six (games)," Jones said Monday, after his first practice in pads. "But I can start practicing now and take it day by day." Starting QB Jon Kitna praised Jones saying, "He looked good. It's a gradual process, but he said he feels great and that's the key."

*** Friday Update *** RB Ryan Grant (GB) practiced fully on Friday and barring a setback is expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Ryan Grant (GB) partially participated in Thursday's practice.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Brandon Jackson (GB) partially participated in Wednesday's practice.

*** Friday Update *** RB Vernand Morency (GB) partially participated in Friday's practice and is questionable to play this weekend. "He's a little sore today," HC Mike McCarthy said. "It's that whole thing of, you don't want to bring a guy back after as long as he's been out and risk setting him back another four or five weeks." Morency continues to nurse a knee injury. He's looking very questionable for Sunday.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Vernand Morency (GB) partially participated in Thursday's practice.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Vernand Morency (GB) partially participated in Wednesday's practice.

*** Saturday Update *** RB DeShawn Wynn (GB) appears set to play as the third down back this week, while RB Ryan Grant, who returned Friday after pulling a hamstring Monday, looks like the # 3 back. Vernand Morency is questionable and didn't practice Friday.

RB Larry Johnson (KC) will likely be on a limited number of carries according to HC Herm Edwards: "He's going to be on a little bit of a leash early. He carried the ball two or three times in St. Louis. So he has to get his legs underneath him. Michael Bennett is healthy and that's good; it gives us another runner. We feel very comfortable with the runners we have. It's not all on LJ. It's tough on one guy and he did a yeoman's job last year."

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Ronnie Brown (MIA) HC Cam Cameron designated Ronnie Brown as his starting running back Wednesday. However, Cameron also cautioned that the offensive set will dictate where Brown will start. "Personnel wise, Jesse Chatman could be in the starting lineup, too. There could be two running backs in there, but (Ronnie) will be our starting tailback," Cameron said. "I think he earned the job and like I said, I think we need two."

RB Ronnie Brown (MIA) may lose carries to RB Jesse Chatman. Chatman had a strong training camp while coach Cam Cameron seemed dissatisfied with Ronnie Brown, even putting him on the kick return team. Monday, Cameron added more fuel to the fire saying, "You need two backs in this business. You can't interpret that as a negative. But you'll see both those backs in a game."

*** Friday Update *** RB Reagan Mauia (MIA) practiced fully on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Reagan Mauia (MIA) practiced fully on Thursday.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Reagan Mauia (MIA) practiced fully on Wednesday and barring a setback is expected to be available to play this weekend.

*** Saturday Update *** RB Ricky Williams (MIA) Two sources close to Ricky Williams said that he will apply for reinstatement in October. "Ricky has worked diligently to get himself ready to return as soon as possible," said one source. "Nothing is ever set in stone with him, but I think it's pretty safe to assume he'll be back." NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will be facing a tough decision over whether to allow Williams to return this year. Williams isn't allowed to reapply until next month.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Robert Douglas (NYG) did not practice on Wednesday and will not play this weekend.

*** Saturday Update *** RB Thomas Jones (NYJ) still appears to be a game-time decision, but he remained optimistic Friday about the progress of his strained right calf. "I'm feeling a lot better," Jones said Friday, repeating his comments from earlier in the week. Jones was listed as questionable on the team's injury report Friday, but practiced all week without a wrap on his calf. "The trainers have done a great job of getting me back on the practice field and getting me to go through some drills and things like that," he said. "So, we'll see how I feel on Sunday."

*** Friday Update *** RB Thomas Jones (NYJ) partially participated in Friday's practice and is questionable to play this weekend. However, it looks like he'll start.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Thomas Jones (NYJ) partially participated in Thursday's practice.

Jones said he feels "a lot better," and that he expected to practice again tomorrow and to "see how it goes" in the game.

*** Friday Update *** RB Michael Turner (SD) practiced fully on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Michael Turner (SD) practiced fully on Wednesday and barring a setback is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Frank Gore (SF) may be wearing a padded glove on his right hand for the season opener against the Cardinals on Monday night. Gore insists he won't be thinking about the injury during the game and said he has not yet decided whether he will play with the glove. One of the worries is that it will affect his grip on the ball.

RB Frank Gore (SF) was held out of all four preseason games while his broken right hand healed and will bring fresh legs to the 49ers' regular-season opener Monday night against Arizona. Gore looked particularly quick on the few handoffs he took in Monday's practice without pads. It's a reflection of him working hard on his conditioning while he was out and of not taking a beating for the last month in camp. "I feel good," he said. "Coaches were working me out, keeping me in shape with explosive drills. I feel once I get out there, the more I'm in, the better I am and the more touches I get, the better I am. I'll be all right."

*** Friday Update *** RB Casey Cramer (TEN) did not practice on Friday and is not expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Casey Cramer (TEN) did not practice on Thursday.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Casey Cramer (TEN) did not practice on Wednesday.

*** Friday Update *** RB Clinton Portis (WAS) practiced fully on Friday and is expected to play this weekend. Portis assured the media Thursday that he's ready for the season opener. "I've been through four full practices, no limitations. I feel fine," Portis said. "Yeah I think I can handle any work load given to me. Whatever they give me, that's what I'm going to handle."

*** Thursday Update *** RB Clinton Portis (WAS) practiced fully on Thursday.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Clinton Portis (WAS) practiced fully on Wednesday and barring a setback is still on track to start this weekend.

RB Clinton Portis (WAS) practiced fully on Monday and is expected to start in week one. However, Ladell Betts will get time as well according to HC Joe Gibbs, who said, "He'll start off and he and Ladell [Betts] will take the load."

Wide Receiver

*** Thursday Update *** WR Roddy White (ATL) The Falcons will start Roddy White at WR opposite Joe Horn for this Sunday and beyond. White has been working as a starter for part of preseason after the coaching staff felt Michael Jenkins was better off working from the slot.

*** Friday Update *** WR Mark Clayton (BAL) partially participated in Friday's practice but is still expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Mark Clayton (BAL) partially participated in Thursday's practice.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Keary Colbert (CAR) will start alongside WR Steve Smith during the team's Week 1 game on Sunday. "He's a different football player," quarterback Jake Delhomme said. "The last couple of years he battled through some injuries and whatnot and wasn't as smooth. I think Keary is a big confidence guy. When his confidence is high, he's pretty good. And his confidence is sky-high."

WR Josh Davis (CAR) The Panthers announced on Monday that they have placed wide receiver Josh Davis on the reserve Physically Unable to Report (PUP) list. Davis will be ineligible to practice or play for the team for a minimum of six weeks.

*** Saturday Update *** WR Muhsin Muhammad (CHI) HC Lovie Smith recently said that he would take caution with Muhsin Muhammad throughout the season. Muhammad missed practice Friday with general soreness but is expected to play on Sunday against the Chargers.

*** Thursday Update *** WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (CIN) did not practice on Thursday.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (CIN) did not practice on Wednesday. This was a surprise. He is listed on the injury report as missing practice with a knee issue. Stay tuned to see if he can work Thursday.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Ethan Kilmer (CIN) did not practice on Wednesday and will not play this weekend.

*** Saturday Update *** WR Patrick Crayton (DAL) will start at least the next two weeks in place of the injured Terry Glenn and could move into the starting lineup for the remainder of the season. Glenn said on Friday that he will require surgery on the torn cartilage in his knee. Glenn is leaning toward a temporary solution that will only keep him out for a few weeks, but he has not closed out the option of a season-ending procedure.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Patrick Crayton (DAL) is expected to start this weekend (and likely longer) in place of the injured Terry Glenn.

WR Patrick Crayton (DAL) could start in week one if WR Terry Glenn (knee), who took part in individual drills Monday, can't go.

*** Saturday Update *** WR Terry Glenn (DAL) said on Friday that he has torn cartilage that will require surgery. He will either undergo season-ending knee surgery or having a smaller procedure to remove the damaged tissue so that he can potentially return in three to four weeks. The latter option, however, would only be a temporary solution and could expose him to the risk of severely hurting the knee again. "I want to play this year, and I really feel I have chance so I'm really leaning toward taking the piece out and trying to play this year even though I'm risking the rest of my career by doing that," Glenn said. "I think that's what I'm going to do. I'm not sure, but I've played 12 years and don't have a lot of years left. I want to win now, and I think we have a chance to win now. My Super Bowl chances are running out, so that's what I will probably do. But I know there's a great percentage risk that I could do that, ruin my knee, never play again and have to limp the rest of my life."

*** Thursday Update *** WR Terry Glenn (DAL) did not practice on Thursday and is not expected to play for at least two weeks according to owner Jerry Jones. Glenn is sitting due to what HC Wade Phillips described as swelling in his knee.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Terry Glenn (DAL) practiced fully on Wednesday, but his status for this weekend is still unclear.

WR Terry Glenn (DAL) is a month removed from a knee scope. He ran some routes during a workout on Saturday, but when asked if he will play in the season opener, Glenn replied, "I don't know." The speculation is the Patrick Crayton will need to step in and start, even if Glenn is active.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Terrell Owens (DAL) entered his first season with the club telling fans to get their popcorn ready because it was going to be a show. He caught 85 passes for 1,180 yards and an NFL-leading 13 touchdowns. But Owens was not the impact player he and the Cowboys hoped he would be, with a league-high 17 dropped passes and an assortment of hand, finger and hamstring injuries. Healthy and stronger than he has been in years, Owens plans to make amends in 2007 with an "explosive" season. His goals are 100 catches, 1,500 yards and 20 touchdowns. "With the skills I have, I really felt like I let this team down. Considering some of the things I was expected to do and I could've done, I'm ready to go this season. Not any problems. I look for a big year."

*** Thursday Update *** WR Brandon Marshall (DEN) Javon Walker said the NFL world doesn't yet know how good Brandon Marshall is, but the second-year pro who has risen to starting split end didn't want to toot his own horn. "I don't want to brag on myself, but I think with me starting this year and getting a lot more snaps, I have a lot more opportunities to make bigger and a lot more plays," he said.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Antonio Chatman (FA) did not practice on Wednesday and will not play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** WR Donald Driver (GB) practiced fully on Friday and is expected to play this weekend. He's telling reporters there is nothing to worry about and that he'll be ready to go.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Donald Driver (GB) partially participated in Thursday's practice.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Donald Driver (GB) partially participated in Wednesday's practice.

*** Friday Update *** WR Greg Jennings (GB) partially participated in Friday's practice and is questionable to play this weekend. He's nursing a hamstring injury and it's looking iffy for him. James Jones would fill in if Jennings can't go.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Greg Jennings (GB) left practice early Thursday with a hamstring injury. It is not known how serious the injury is. Jennings was in the locker room in the period open to the media. He limped only slightly and had no bandages or wraps on the leg. Packers HC Mike McCarthy did not mention Jennings' injury in a session with reporters early on Thursday afternoon, but his name showed up on the daily injury report as having taken part in practice on a limited basis.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Chris Chambers (MIA) The Dolphins have switched the positions of WR Chris Chambers and WR Marty Booker heading into the regular season, with Chambers playing in the "X" position and Booker moving into the "Z" position. "I was the Z last year and he was the X. I did a lot of the motion, the reverses, screens and inside routes," said Chambers. "Now, he's doing that stuff. I'm pretty much focused on one side of the ball for the most part. If needed to move I could move."

WR Ted Ginn (MIA) was back to returning kickoffs, with RB Jesse Chatman serving as his counterpart on special teams during Monday's morning practice session. RB Ronnie Brown did not participate in any kick return drills.

*** Friday Update *** WR Robert Ferguson (MIN) partially participated in Friday's practice and is questionable to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Bobby Wade (MIN) fully on Thursday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Bobby Wade (MIN) returned to the practice field Tuesday, declaring his sprained ankle healthy and pledging to play in the Vikings' season opener Sunday against Atlanta. "It kind of got rolled up and aggravated a bit," Wade said. "But it couldn't have been at a better time, as far as having enough time to get back and be 100 percent. Practice went well today. I expect to practice all week and play hard Sunday." Asked if there was any doubt he would play against the Falcons, Wade said, "No." Wade partially participated in Wednesday's session.

*** Saturday Update *** WR Troy Williamson (MIN) Of the five WRs on the Vikings roster, Troy Williamson is the only carryover from last year. And despite his drops, the Vikings refused to drop him. Instead, they sent him to eye specialists at the Nike headquarters and shored up his fundamentals to bolster his confidence. Williamson admitted that his rash of drops bothered him last year. "My mind was set on listening to too much of the negative stuff," he said. "I'm focusing more and just putting everything where it needs to be." Vikings OC Darrell Bevell said the coaches are pleased with Williamson's strides.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Randy Moss (NE) partially participated in Thursday's practice.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Randy Moss (NE) was not listed on the injury report for Wednesday and participated fully in practice. Neither the team nor Moss is saying how much he'll play in Week 1 but it looks like he's going to give it a go.

WR Randy Moss (NE) returned to the practice field Monday morning but is unsure if he will play opening day. When asked what his chances are for playing Sunday, Moss replied, "I guess nobody is telling you anything, so I'll just hold it a question mark too. My thing is that I want to play. Will I play? I don't know. We'll just leave it at that."

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Plaxico Burress (NYG) practiced fully on Wednesday and barring a setback is expected to play this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR David Tyree (NYG) did not practice on Wednesday and will not play this weekend.

*** Saturday Update *** WR Laveranues Coles (NYJ) has added some one-on-one time with WRs coach Noel Mazzone. Just about every day at practice, Coles and Mazzone find themselves a corner of the field in which to work and go over the finer points of the position. It's a Coles-specific coaching session. And it's something new this season. "It's just a little bit more time where he can explain to me what he wants on certain routes, polish them up," Coles said.

*** Friday Update *** WR Chansi Stuckey (NYJ) practiced fully on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Chansi Stuckey (NYJ) practiced fully on Thursday.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Chansi Stuckey (NYJ) practiced fully on Wednesday and barring a setback is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** WR Ben Obomanu (SEA) did not practice on Friday and is not expected to play this weekend.

WR Taylor Jacobs (SF) is officially still the 49ers' WR3, but Ashley Lelie is coming on fast. In fact, HC Mike Nolan said Monday that Lelie would be the primary backup at the split-end receiver position, where Darrell Jackson is the starter and Jacobs would be the first one in if Arnaz Battle got hurt at flanker. "It could be either one of those guys," Nolan said when asked who he'd go with in three receiver sets. "Taylor's probably half a step ahead."

*** Saturday Update *** WR Ashley Lelie (SF) The Denver Broncos organization filed a lawsuit Friday seeking to recover $660,000 that an arbitrator awarded them in April stemming from Ashley Lelie's departure last year. Lelie has not complied with the previous ruling. Now, the Broncos don't only want the money, but interest to cover their attorney fees. "Whatever. It just seems a little petty," said Lelie. "They're definitely going to get their money." Lelie said his agent and accountant have been preparing to pay back the team and were working through final details.

*** Friday Update *** WR Drew Bennett (STL) partially participated in Friday's practice and is questionable to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Drew Bennett (STL) partially participated in Thursday's practice.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Drew Bennett (STL) did not practice on Wednesday.

*** Saturday Update *** WR Torry Holt (STL) has given updates on his surgically repaired right knee throughout the summer. On Friday, Holt said he was done with that according to the Associated Press. "I'm not going to discuss percentage, I'm just going to play on Sunday, then you all can do a poll or something and everyone can put down what they thought I looked like," Holt said.

Holt says he feels good and is ready to go.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Torry Holt (STL) is not listed on the Injury Report and practiced fully Wednesday. Coach Scott Linehan said that Holt's knee looked "100%". Holt himself has said his knee feels about 70% and that he has good days and bad days. But it looks like he's ready to start in Week 1.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Joey Galloway (TB) partially participated in Wednesday's practice.

Tight End

*** Thursday Update *** TE Alge Crumpler (ATL) partially participated in Thursday's practice.

*** Thursday Update *** TE Greg Olsen (CHI) partially participated in Thursday's practice.

*** Wednesday Update *** TE Greg Olsen (CHI) did not practice on Wednesday and it's looking like he won't be available to play in Week 1. His knee isn't seriously injured but the team does not want to rush him back too quickly.

TE Greg Olsen (CHI) is improving gradually from his sprained knee suffered in the team's final exhibition game. He is sporting a slight limp, but is without the aid of a knee brace. He hopes to be ready for the season opener at San Diego, but HC Lovie Smith won't rush Olsen. "We look at who is healthy on game day, then we decide," Smith said. "We're not going to press them anymore to try to find out. We don't let them get on the practice field until they're ready to play - Normally, if a guy is ready to play Sunday, you'd like to see him practice Friday."

*** Friday Update *** TE Stephen Alexander (DEN) partially participated in Friday's practice and is questionable to play this weekend.

TE Bubba Franks (GB) After a great training camp, veteran TE Bubba Franks has put himself in a place to contribute this season. Donald Lee will get first crack at being in the lineup because he's faster than Franks, but the snaps could wind up being split in half. "Those guys are pretty even," OC Joe Philbin said. "I feel good about both of them. I think Bubba is moving better than he has the last couple of years, there's no question about that. He's had a very good camp. Donald Lee has been solid, too. I think with those guys, the days of Bubba playing 70 plays and the second tight end playing 15 are over. I don't think Donald is going to play 50 and Bubba plays 10. It probably will be more balanced between those two guys."

*** Saturday Update *** TE L.J. Smith (PHI) was downgraded to questionable Saturday. Smith doesn't sound optimistic about his chances of playing against the Packers in the opener Sunday. "I may get on the plane," a dejected Smith said. "If I can do something, I'll do it. If I'm limited, I'm just not going to do it. If I can't be effective, what's the point in being out there?" Players downgraded on Saturday are rarely on the field come Sunday.

*** Saturday Update *** PK Nick Folk (DAL) has won the confidence of the team. And there are plenty of signs the 6th round pick could have a great career. In the preseason he kicked a 52-yard FG and his accuracy was also impressive. He rarely missed during training camp and made all three of his field goal attempts in exhibition play. But what stands out most about Folk is his cool demeanor. "Under pressure, he's done some good things," HC Wade Phillips said.

PK Justin Medlock (KC) Kansas City brought in six kickers to either push or beat out rookie Justin Medlock, who has struggled this preseason. Eighteen-year veteran John Carney, who has a career field-goal percentage of 81.8, was among the candidates. Also in attendance were Josh Huston, Shane Andrus, Nick Novak, Kevin Lovell and Conner Hughes.
