Week 6 Players in the News

The Latest News

Quarterback

Running Back

*** Saturday Update *** RB Jamal Lewis (BAL) says he needs more carries to be effective. "I'm not a 13- to 15-carry back. You know that, I know that and the Ravens know that," Lewis said. "I'm the type of back that has to carry the ball about 25 to 30 times a game. In the past, we had a big offensive line and they liked to lean on people. We would pound the ball for 2 or 3 yards a carry in the first half, but then those runs would turn into 5 and 6 yards in the third quarter. By the fourth, you're wearing teams down and that's when you can hit a 30- or 60-yarder. That's how we got to the Super Bowl in my first year. People are asking, 'Where is the old Jamal?' He's out there, just not getting into the flow. I've got to get enough carries to get a feel for the game. I'm no different than a quarterback or a wide receiver, where you have to work into a flow."

Wide Receiver

*** Saturday Update *** WR Clarence Moore (BAL) was released by the team. LB Dennis Haley was signed from the practice squad to take Moore's place.

*** Saturday Update *** WR Jerry Porter (OAK) The Oakland Raiders suspended disgruntled wide receiver Jerry Porter for four games without pay Saturday for conduct detrimental to the team. Porter, Oakland's leading receiver a year ago, was inactive for the first four games of the season after clashing with new coach Art Shell and making public a trade demand at the start of training camp. "It's crazy," Porter said of his situation earlier this week. "I pretty much stay quiet and do what I'm asked. What am I supposed to do? I'm playing the cards the way they're dealt to me." The Raiders were traveling to Denver on Saturday for Sunday night's game against the Broncos and unavailable for comment on the decision to suspend Porter.

*** Saturday Update *** WR Deion Branch (SEA) will replace Nate Burleson as the starting split end. Branch had been working as the #3 WR. "Every week he's been with us he's learned more and feels more comfortable," coach Mike Holmgren said of Branch. "It's time we stuck him in there."

*** Saturday Update *** WR Michael Clayton (TB) said this week that he is not happy with his role in the offense. "I don't really feel like I'm being used to help this team the way I can be," he said Thursday. "Sometimes I feel like I'm not involved. So I have to do what I have to do, block and all that." Clayton has just 10 receptions for 117 yards on the season.

*** Saturday Update *** WR David Patten (WAS) was downgraded to questionable with his thigh. That's always a bad sign for a player to be downgraded late in the week.

Tight End

*** Saturday Update *** TE Jerramy Stevens (SEA) practiced this week and his surgically repaired left knee appears well enough to allow him to get in for about 30 plays, which is about 10 or 15 less than would be typical for him. "The week went OK," Stevens said. "We stuck to the plan we had, kind of taking it day by day. It's getting there."

Kicker

*** Saturday Update *** PK Jeff Wilkins (STL) Should Rams Jeff Wilkins maintain his current FG pace, several NFL records won't just be broken. They'll be shattered. With 18 FGs in the first five games, Wilkins projects to a season total of 58. The record is 40, set last year by Neil Rackers of the Arizona Cardinals.

*** Saturday Update *** PK Rob Bironas (TEN) was added to the injury report as probable with a groin injury. Punter Craig Hentrich practiced kicking field goals this week in case Bironas can't kick.

Offensive Line

Defensive Line

*** Saturday Update *** DL Sam Adams (CIN) has revealed that he’ll need arthroscopic knee surgery after the season, but he says he’s feeling better than he did even last week. "I’m just working through it. I didn’t want to miss that much time, so I’ll wait and get it done later," said Adams. Adams hasn’t missed a start even though he has been able to practice only on Fridays.

Linebacker

Defensive Back

*** Saturday Update *** DB Walt Harris (SF) was held out of Friday's practice because of a hamstring strain, and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers. HC Mike Nolan said Harris' availability would be a game-time decision. Sammy Davis would get the start if Harris is unable to go.

*** Saturday Update *** DB Travis Fisher (STL) HC Scott Linehan said he expects Travis Fisher to play against the Seahawks, despite being bothered by a tight groin muscle. He'll likely team with either Tye Hill or Jerametrius Butler as the Rams prepare to slow down the Seahawks offense on Sunday.

General Team News

*** Saturday Update *** TM Carolina Panthers (CAR) LB Dan Morgan has been placed on the injured reserve list. The team signed OG D’Anthony Batiste to fill out their roster.

All the news

Quarterback

*** Thursday Update *** QB Kurt Warner (ARI) is contemplating retiring at the end of the season over the frustration of being a backup quarterback to a second rookie with his second consecutive team. Warner lost his starting job last week to Matt Leinart, two years after getting leapfrogged by Eli Manning. “I really don’t know if I could be comfortable as a backup quarterback or if I’d go crazy in that role,” Warner said. He has one year remaining after this season on his three year deal.

*** Friday Update *** QB Anthony Wright (CIN) will miss Sunday's game at Tampa Bay after undergoing an emergency appendectomy this morning, HC Marvin Lewis said this afternoon after practice. Doug Johnson will be the No. 2 QB.

QB Drew Bledsoe (DAL) received a vote of confidence from coach Bill Parcells. He said that Bledsoe was the starter and that it was "redundant" for reporters to keep asking questions about it. Although it seems like this will be a week to week situation.

*** Friday Update *** QB Jake Plummer (DEN) Oakland Raiders FS Stuart Schweigert believes Jake Plummer is showing his true form this season after a strong 2005 campaign. "Maybe it's kind of catching up with him a little bit, his luck kind of maybe ran out from last season," Schweigert said. "We got to capitalize on his mistakes. He is going to take some chances. We got to make him pay for it. Plummer is a guy that can make some things happen. He can run, he can throw it, but, along with that he can make some mistakes," Schweigert added. "He can make some big plays on the run, but he can also throw some balls out there that you don't understand who he's throwing it to."

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Peyton Manning (IND) missed the first regular-season practice of his nine-year career Wednesday so he could attend his grandmother's funeral in Mississippi.

*** Monday Update *** QB Peyton Manning (IND) The Colts could not stop the run at all on Sunday. And this was facing the 30th best rushing team in the league. This means teams are going to be able to chew up significant portions of the game clock giving Peyton less time to throw the ball. The Titans also decided to make Manning beat them with many underneath passes. This could be a strategy more teams deploy against the Colts as the season wears on. All of this translates to lower numbers from Manning going forward.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Trent Green (KC) remains out after his concussion.

QB Damon Huard (KC) will have at least a couple more starts with the team. HC Herm Edwards said Trent Green wouldn’t play Sunday at Pittsburgh and was at least a week away from resuming practice. So Huard will get the Steelers on Sunday, in all likelihood the Oct. 22 home game against San Diego and perhaps more.

*** Friday Update *** QB Daunte Culpepper (MIA) will serve as the team’s emergency QB against this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** QB Daunte Culpepper (MIA) HC Nick Saban restated yesterday that QB Daunte Culpepper is his team's quarterback "of the future." But the future isn't now, and there is no timetable as to when Culpepper will return. Listed as doubtful for the Jets game, Culpepper likely will serve as third-string behind Joey Harrington and Cleo Lemon. While Culpepper is optimistic he won't be sidelined for the rest of the season, Saban didn't dismiss that possibility. "There is no discussion or thoughts of not trying to get him back for this year," Saban said Wednesday. "I can't say one way or the other about injured reserve. This is something we can't predict."

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Daunte Culpepper (MIA) declined to comment on the subject matter of the argument he had with HC Nick Saban last week but said he agreed with his coach's decision to start former Detroit Lion QB Joey Harrington in his place. Culpepper's removal isn't due to his lackluster performance this season but is a reflection of the health of his surgically repaired knee. "I have to say 'thank you' to coach Saban," Culpepper said. "Because in this situation he's really protecting me and doing what's best for the team and that's how we're moving along."

QB Joey Harrington (MIA) will start this week over Daunte Culpepper, who started the season's first four games. Harrington started Sunday's game in New England. Culpepper will begin a therapy program designed to restore some explosive movement in his surgically rebuilt right knee. He's also bothered by a sore shoulder. Saban said there's no long-term timetable for how long Harrington will remain as Miami's starter.

*** Friday Update *** QB Chad Pennington (NYJ) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Aaron Brooks (OAK) remains out with his injured throwing shoulder.

QB Aaron Brooks (OAK) still doesn't look like he'll be able to go so Andrew Walter gets another start.

*** Thursday Update *** QB Chris Simms (TB) rejected a $10 million contract extension during the off season. Simms opted to sign just a one-year deal and test the market after the season. Simms suffered a ruptured spleen during Week 3 and is expected to miss several weeks, if not the rest of the season, after his successful splenectomy surgery. "I realized that if I had done a one-year deal, barring me having an injury that was career-ending, I would be okay," Simms said. "Hindsight is always 20/20, but as long as I stay healthy, I'll get mine down the line." He believes he can return this season, saying he has targeted Thanksgiving to be game-ready. “It’s going to be a few more weeks before I can start doing real light workouts,” he said. “Then from there, it’s, 'Okay, I can work out. Now I can start throwing lightly.’ I’ll, of course, need a little time to get back into shape. And then the final thing is going to be can I take a hit again? Right now, I have a big scar going down the middle of my chest.”

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Chris Simms (TB) remains out but has not ruled out a return to the field.

Running Back

RB Edgerrin James (ARI) criticized the team's playing calling Sunday, following a 23-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. "We just got away from the run," said James. "That's the stupidest thing. You have to be able to finish the game. You got to give us a chance, you know." James only had four carries in the 4th quarter.

*** Friday Update *** RB Jerious Norwood (ATL) practiced all week and is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Giants.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Jerious Norwood (ATL) practiced on Wednesday but is listed as questionable for this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Justin Green (BAL) practiced on Friday and has been upgraded to probable for this weekend. He is expected to play.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Justin Green (BAL) practiced on Thursday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Nick Goings (CAR) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Nick Goings (CAR) practiced on Thursday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Brad Hoover (CAR) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Brad Hoover (CAR) practiced on Thursday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB DeAngelo Williams (CAR) will not play this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. Williams sprained his right ankle last Sunday against Cleveland.

RB DeAngelo Williams (CAR) suffered a sprained ankle during Sunday's win over Cleveland according to HC John Fox. He said that he is relieved Williams' injury was not worse. "Oh yeah. Any time a guy gets hurt, you always hold your breath. Not that this isn't painful. It might require some time (to heal) but at least it's not broken," Fox said.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Cedric Benson (CHI) looked like he had just played paint ball or put a fresh coat on someone's house, his pants splashed with white, black and blue spots. It was messy. And that was the design. "I hadn't been painting," Benson said Wednesday. He did play paint ball with his teammates -- before the season. "That was a good time, just to get to hang out and get to know people off the field," Benson said. His tenure with the Bears has resembled his pants – spotty and somewhat by design. Not by his design, though. "I'm definitely not unhappy with it," said Benson. "I'm not in control of the situation. I'm sure they've got a plan. ... I'm in for the ride, too."

*** Friday Update *** RB Chris Perry (CIN) has missed more games in his NFL career (20) than he’s played (16), but he indicated Thursday that this will be the last one he’ll miss and that he’ll be ready to play in his first game off the PUP list next week against Carolina. “Yeah, I think I’m ready, but they have to think I’m ready and if they do I’ll do the best I can,” Perry said.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Cedric Cobbs (DEN) will not play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Cecil Sapp (DEN) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Shawn Bryson (DET) partially participated in Friday’s practice but remains probable for this weekend.

RB Ahman Green (GB) HC Mike McCarthy said on Monday that running back Ahman Green continues to be the #1 running back on the team's depth chart, despite missing the past two weeks with injuries and running back Noah Herron having a strong performance in Week 5 in his absence.

*** Friday Update *** RB Greg Jones (JAX) said he's recovering faster than he did when he suffered the same injury in his junior year at Florida State. "I wasn't in a brace as long as I was for the first one," he said. Because he suffered the injury during preseason this time instead of November, Jones has more time to prepare for next season.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Michael Bennett (KC) will not play this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Priest Holmes (KC) It has been nearly a year since Priest Holmes’ season ended, and Holmes still isn’t anywhere near Arrowhead Stadium. “I don’t know if it’s telling,” HC Herm Edwards said of Holmes’ absence. “I haven’t been around Priest a whole lot." The Chiefs have until the 12th week of the season to decide whether to put him on the roster or place him on injured reserve. GM Carl Peterson said Holmes still seems open to playing. “He’s working out, but not, very frankly, with a great deal of vigor right now,” Peterson said. “He’s doing fine physically, but it’s still going to be the doctors’ decision, and he knows that.”

*** Friday Update *** RB Larry Johnson (KC) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Larry Johnson (KC) returned to practice on Thursday and is expected to play this weekend. "He's still sore. But he was practicing today. He's probable," HC Herm Edwards said.

RB Larry Johnson (KC) will probably be listed on this week’s injury report after his neck was yanked on a face-mask penalty, but HC Herm Edwards said he would play against the Steelers. “He’s going to be fine, but his neck is obviously sore,” Edwards said.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Derrick Ward (NYG) will not play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB B.J. Askew (NYJ) did not practice on Friday and remains questionable for this weekend’s game.

*** Friday Update *** RB Kevan Barlow (NYJ) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend. Despite Leon Washington's stellar 101-yard rushing performance last week, Kevan Barlow is expected to remain the team’s starting running back.

*** Friday Update *** RB Derrick Blaylock (NYJ) If and when Jets’ RB Curtis Martin is activated off the team's PUP list, Derrick Blaylock is reportedly the most likely candidate to be cut from the team.

*** Friday Update *** RB James Hodgins (NYJ) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Cedric Houston (NYJ) did not practice on Friday and is not expected to play this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Cedric Houston (NYJ) did not practice on Wednesday and is not sure when he'll be ready to play again. "I'm not going to push it," Houston said. "Whenever they feel it's time for me to get back out there and play, I'll be ready to go." He is officially listed as questionable for this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Curtis Martin (NYJ) Although some in the Jets organization believe his career is over, Curtis Martin is expected to attempt a return to practice as early as next week, when he's eligible to come off the PUP list, according to two sources. The people spoke on condition of anonymity because no official announcement on Martin's future has been made. Martin has been rehabbing and attending meetings all season. He's eligible to come off the PUP list on Monday. When he does come off the list, the Jets have 21 days in which to activate him. If they don't activate him, he will go on injured reserve.

*** Friday Update *** RB Leon Washington (NYJ) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Zack Crockett (OAK) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

RB Justin Fargas (OAK) impressed HC Art Shell with 63 yards on eight carries yesterday. Shell indicated Fargas could see more playing time as a result. "It's a good combination," Shell said, "We've got to keep that going for us." Starter Lamont Jordan had 12 carries for 71 yards.

*** Friday Update *** RB ReShard Lee (OAK) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Reno Mahe (PHI) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Reno Mahe (PHI) practiced on Thursday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Brian Westbrook (PHI) was held out of Friday’s practice because the session was on turf, and the team wanted to make sure no more swelling occurred in his knee. He is expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Brian Westbrook (PHI) practiced on Thursday and barring a setback is expected to play this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Brian Westbrook (PHI) practiced on Wednesday which is a really good sign for him compared to what he's been able to do in the last few weeks of practice.

RB Brian Westbrook (PHI) HC Andy Reid said yesterday that RB Brian Westbrook had "very little swelling" in his right knee one day after the 38-24 victory over the Cowboys. The Eagles hope to learn more about Westbrook's injury tomorrow when they return to practice. Westbrook has not practiced much for the last few weeks. Reid says he cannot tell if this will be a weekly ordeal with Westbrook.

*** Friday Update *** RB Dan Kreider (PIT) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Dan Kreider (PIT) practiced on Thursday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Shaun Alexander (SEA) will not play this weekend.

RB Shaun Alexander (SEA) HC Mike Holmgren doesn't expect Alexander to be ready for Sunday's game vs. the Rams in St. Louis. Holmgren says Alexander needs more time for a broken foot bone to heal and should return for the Oct. 22 game against Minnesota in Seattle.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Paul Smith (STL) will miss the next 3-5 weeks as he recovers from surgery to repair some damaged muscles around his eye. Fullback Madison Hedgecock will start in his place.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Paul Smith (STL) will not play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Chris Brown (TEN) is the odd man out in the Tennessee Titans RB rotation. Brown called the situation of going from starter to the third RB behind LenDale White frustrating. And no one has talked to him about why he has been listed as a healthy inactive two of the past three games. "I'm sure it probably would help, but ain't no one really talked to me about it. It's their decision. They've got to deal with it," Brown said.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Chris Brown (TEN) Agent Ryan Morgan, who along with Wynn Silberman requested the Titans deal Chris Brown two months ago, says his stance hasn’t changed. “Chris is 11 games from free agency. There is a week left before the trading deadline, but I would think it would make some sense for the franchise, but it’s in their hands and it does us no good to beat our heads against the wall and demand a trade.” We requested a trade one time, and did not get a favorable response from them, so we went public with the request to the media. We never withdrew our request, but to request a trade again is kind of silly.” The team has indicated that Travis Henry and LenDale White will be active this week while Brown will sit.

RB Chris Brown (TEN) looks to be the odd man out in the Titans RB rotation right now. HC Jeff Fisher said he expects Travis Henry and LenDale White will be the backs again Sunday against Washington. Brown most likely will be inactive unless injuries create an opening.

*** Friday Update *** RB LenDale White (TEN) missed practice for the third straight day on Friday because of illness. HC Jeff Fisher said that White is struggling with a sort of virus, but it seemed to be a little better on Friday. "He was better today, but was not able to practice," Fisher said. "He has a virus, and he just does not feel well. We have done all the tests and everything. I would assume that this thing should take its course and he should be better tomorrow." He is officially a game-time decision.

*** Thursday Update *** RB LenDale White (TEN) missed a second consecutive practice Thursday with a virus, and HC Jeff Fisher said the rookie needs to return quickly to have a chance to play this Sunday against Washington. Fisher said White did not feel well enough to practice Wednesday or Thursday. Fisher also added that "Without practice tomorrow, it's going to be tough to have him available for the game."

*** Wednesday Update *** RB LenDale White (TEN) missed Wednesday’s practice due to a stomach illness. He is listed as questionable for this weekend.

Wide Receiver

*** Thursday Update *** WR Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) will not play this week, but was noticeably walking better yesterday and HC Dennis Green hopes Fitzgerald will only miss a week or two.

WR Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) HC Dennis Green said during his weekly press conference that Fitzgerald could miss two to five weeks with a hamstring injury he suffered during yesterday's loss to Kansas City. Fitzgerald will not play in Week 6. His absence leaves the Cardinals with only three receivers on the 53-man roster, so they will promote Carlyle Holiday from the practice squad, Green said.

*** Friday Update *** WR Mark Clayton (BAL) was added to the injury report on Friday with a neck injury and is now questionable for Sunday's game vs. Carolina.

*** Saturday Update *** WR Clarence Moore (BAL) was released by the team. LB Dennis Haley was signed from the practice squad to take Moore's place.

*** Friday Update *** WR Mark Bradley (CHI) did not practice on Friday and remains questionable for this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Mark Bradley (CHI) did not practice on Thursday and remains questionable for this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** WR Terrell Owens (DAL) was late to practice on Wednesday and got into a shouting match with passing game coordinator/receivers coach Todd Haley. Now, Owens says he’s no longer dealing with Haley on a personal level because he violated his trust. “Anything is fixable,” Owens said on his weekly radio show. “But at this point, I feel like I have gone out on a limb. People that know me know I don’t trust too many people. When I felt like I have gone out on a limb and talked to Todd in a setting where we are man to man and up front with each other, and then I feel like that trust is being violated, then right now I will have a hard time here on out.” Owens said that he will talk with Haley when it’s something dealing with football, but that’s it. “Other than him being my coach and me being respectful and him being respectful to me as a player, outside of that, there will be nothing else,” Owens said. “No other dialogue. There will be no more friendly nothing because I don’t trust anybody like that.”

The confrontation with Haley began when Owens was late to practice. Owens said he felt ill and was in the bathroom when practice started. He tried to explain his tardiness to Haley, but to no avail. “He said ‘I don’t give a ... what you were doing, everybody else is out here,”’ Owens said. “Dude, I’m trying to make a change and do things right, and I didn’t even blow up on him. I didn’t confront him. I grabbed my helmet and started doing the plays, and I left it at that.” Owens, who said a frustrated Haley also got into an argument with a defensive coach (Todd McIntyre) on Wednesday, said he felt he was disrespected. Yet, Owens said he went up and apologized to coach Bill Parcells. “I told him I went to use the rest room and told him what was going on with my system and he was like, 'all right, just try to get out here a little earlier,' and that was it,” Owens said. Owens said the confrontation with Haley continued in a position meeting after practice.

WR Terrell Owens (DAL) was double-teamed for much of the game, tormented and ultimately showed his frustration by ranting on the sideline and storming off the field after Sheppard's clinching interception. Said Owens: "This wasn't about me. It was about us. It is frustrating, the opportunities we had and we didn't take advantage of them. I felt at home. Regardless of all the boos and all the chants, I felt like I played okay."

*** Friday Update *** WR Roy Williams (DET) returned to practice on Friday and looked good according to HC Rod Marinelli. He is expected to start this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Roy Williams (DET) did not practice on Wednesday but is expected to play this weekend. Williams injured his shoulder and back when he was hit by Vikings S Darren Sharper. "If we can get it to calm down we will be in good position," Williams said during an interview on WXYT 1270. "Right now it is stiff." He is listed as probable.

WR Roy Williams (DET) will be evaluated further Wednesday to see how he's recovering from his shoulder / back stinger. He's day to day right now.

*** Friday Update *** WR Robert Ferguson (GB) may be headed to the injured reserve list after the bye weekend. Ferguson is nursing a sprained foot, which will keep him out of Green Bay’s upcoming game against the Dolphins, and perhaps longer. HC Mike McCarthy compared Ferguson’s injury to DT Kenderick Allen, who went on IR last week. McCarthy said the team will get a better idea of Ferguson's recovery when the players return for practice on Monday.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Robert Ferguson (GB) will be out until mid-season with a major injury to his right foot. Wednesday, Ferguson said he suffered a mid-foot sprain and was told by doctors that he would miss four to six weeks, and wasn't sure if he was a candidate for injured reserve. Without Ferguson, the Packers are down to four wideouts - Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, Koren Robinson and Ruvell Martin. Driver has been battling a rib problem. Robinson all but acknowledged he has been notified that he'll be suspended for a year. His attorney has asked the league for a stay until his legal problems in Minnesota are settled.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Koren Robinson (GB) has asked the NFL to delay the hearing on the appeal of his one-year suspension until after his criminal matters stemming from an August drunk driving charge are resolved.

WR Koren Robinson (GB) Regardless of whether Koren Robinson is going to be suspended before this season ends, the Packers intend to operate as though he'll be here, and get as much out of him they possibly can. According to published reports, Robinson has been informed by the NFL that he will be suspended for a year for violating the league's substance-abuse policy for a third time. However, any penalty imposed against him won't go into effect until his appeal is ruled upon and that could be a while. For now, the Packers know only that Robinson is eligible to play.

WR Marvin Harrison (IND) broke an NFL record Sunday when he caught a pass in his 159th consecutive game from the start of his career, breaking the previous record of 158 held by St. Louis Rams RB Marshall Faulk. He has also moved up the career receptions list from sixth place to fourth in the last two weeks and is now just 12 yards behind Irving Fryer for eighth in all-time receiving yards.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Brandon Stokley (IND) will reportedly miss the next 2-3 weeks after suffering a sprained left knee in Week 5.

*** Friday Update *** WR Dante Hall (KC) HC Herman Edwards after practice on Friday: “Everyone participated that should have participated, and I expect they should play in the game. Dante (Hall) practiced. Q: Will Dante Hall have his normal role on offense and special teams? EDWARDS: “Yeah, he caught the ball today, returned kicks and punts. Looked good. He’s ready to roll.”

*** Thursday Update *** WR Dante Hall (KC) did not practice on Thursday. "He's jogging. He's feeling better. But he didn't practice today," HC Herm Edwards said. Hall said he’s shooting to return to practice on Friday. He added, “I’ll find a way to play. It’s Pittsburgh.” A decision on Hall could come as late as game time. If he does not practice at all, he could still be used on punt and kickoff returns, but replaced in the lineup as a starting wide receiver.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Dante Hall (KC) left the Cardinals' game with an apparent hip pointer. He was replaced by WR Eddie Kennison on punt returns, and by rookie WR Jeff Webb on kickoff returns. HC Herm Edwards indicated they would continue in those roles if Hall does not play this week. Hall's MRI result was negative, and Edwards is hopeful that he'll be able to go this week, “Dante is a little bit sore, but I anticipate he’ll be at practice.” However, Hall did not practice on Wednesday.

WR Dante Hall (KC) went for a magnetic resonance imaging exam of the hip he injured during the second half kickoff of Sunday’s game. HC Herm Edwards was uncertain whether Hall would play this week in Pittsburgh.

*** Friday Update *** WR Marty Booker (MIA) did not practice on Friday and is not expected to play this weekend. Derek Hagan and Wes Welker will likely see more time.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Marty Booker (MIA) did not practice on Thursday and is not expected to play this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Marty Booker (MIA) did not practice on Wednesday and is listed as doubtful on the team's injury report with a chest injury. He likely will be replaced by rookie Derek Hagan when the Dolphins visit the Jets on Sunday. Hagan had one catch for 17 yards last week against the Patriots.

WR Jabar Gaffney (NE) Gaffney, one of four receivers to work out in New England last week, was signed by the Patriots today.

*** Friday Update *** WR Devery Henderson (NO) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Thursday Update *** WR Devery Henderson (NO) practiced on Thursday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Sinorice Moss (NYG) did not practice on Wednesday and will not play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** WR Laveranues Coles (NYJ) did not practice on Friday (which has become fairly common for him). Barring a setback, he is expected to play this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Laveranues Coles (NYJ) was back to normal Wednesday, joking around and laughing with his teammates in the locker room. The receiver was frustrated with his lack of playing time during the second half of last week's blowout loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. "I just don't like losing," Coles said Wednesday. "After a game like that, I was a little frustrated and angry. It's one of those things where you look at everything, you come back on Monday and go through the corrections and you move forward. So, that's what I've done. I've put the game behind me, I left it where it is and I've tried to move forward."

"If they're not going to use me right or if I'm not, depending upon what they want as far as what they're paying me, then trade me or get rid of me at end of season or during the season. It might be good for me to go elsewhere," Moss said. Asked if he's talked to Raiders owner Al Davis about it, Moss said: "I don't do those steps. Going up there and voicing my opinion is like going up there and wasting time. I don't even go."

*** Thursday Update *** WR Jerry Porter (OAK) has been on the inactive list all four games this season, and has little reason to expect otherwise Sunday when the Raiders play at Denver. The trade deadline is Tuesday. Raiders owner Al Davis wants $4 million in bonus money returned before Porter gets sent anywhere. Inquiries were made about Porter at season's start, including one from the Lions, but no one has called this week, a team source said. Chances are Porter is staying put. What he has to do to get on the field, no one is saying. Not even HC Art Shell.
