Quarterback

Running Back

*** Saturday Update *** RB Ronnie Brown (MIA) HC Nick Saban said Saturday it would be "difficult" for Ronnie Brown to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Dec. 3 and that the running back may miss "several weeks" with his broken left hand. Brown had surgery Friday to stabilize a fracture in the second metacarpal. While it was a similar procedure to that of safety Travares Tillman - who had surgery on Monday is expected back to face the Jaguars - Saban said positional difference makes it harder for Brown to return as quickly. "His return is going to be based on the time he needs to get some healing relative to how we can protect his hand so that he can play his position," Saban said. "There's a pretty good chance this week is going to be a difficult (situation) and we'll go week to week and it may be several weeks before he gets back but we don't know that and nobody knows that right now."

Wide Receiver

*** Saturday Update *** WR Brandon Stokley (IND) looks like he won't play Sunday.

*** Sunday Update *** WR Sinorice Moss (NYG) is still recovering from his injured quadriceps and continues to work with the scout team. He hopes to be available against the Cowboys next week. "I said to Sinorice, ‘Do you feel like you can really open up?'" HC Tom Coughlin said. "And I think next week we are going to try to see if we can do that."

*** Saturday Update *** WR Hines Ward (PIT) will be a game time decision Sunday. Check our Sunday Update link for his his official status about an hour before gametime.

*** Saturday Update *** WR Keenan McCardell (SD) will be a game time decision now. If he can't go, look for Vincent Jackson to fill in for McCardell.

Quarterback

*** Friday Update *** QB Jake Plummer (DEN) A season-long slump that ended with back-to-back losses to the Chargers and Chiefs just might have finally cost Broncos QB Jake Plummer his starting job. HC Mike Shanahan isn't saying who will be under center when the Broncos host the Seahawks on Dec. 3, but the buzz is that he'll turn to QB Jay Cutler. "I'm the starter right now," Plummer said, "and if Mike feels that he wants to put Jay in there, then my play hasn't warranted him to not do it."

*** Friday Update *** QB Brett Favre (GB) and HC Mike McCarthy both have indicated that all signs point to the quarterback being under center against the Seahawks even though he is listed as questionable with elbow and groin injuries. Favre fired tight spirals in practice Friday and even joked around by playing a little defense against wide receiver Donald Driver. The play of the 37-year-old quarterback, listed as questionable with groin and a nerve injury in his right elbow, comforted the coaching staff. "That guy's a gamer," offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski said. "I've seen that guy with a torn knee and all that and still make the plays. I never doubt he'll be there." Favre said the only way he wouldn't play Monday is if the ball kept flinging out of his hand.

QB Brett Favre (GB) is expected to play this weekend. "I think his elbow is going to be fine," HC Mike McCarthy told reporters in Green Bay. "He's been in for treatment. We'll re-evaluate him Wednesday, but he doesn't seem very concerned about it."

QB Aaron Rodgers (GB) is out for the year with a broken foot. Ingle Martin becomes the #2 QB. The team also signed Todd Bouman.

*** Friday Update *** QB David Carr (HOU) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Byron Leftwich (JAX) HC Jack Del Rio indicated that Leftwich could be headed for the injured reserve list. “I don't think we'll get (Leftwich) back for the regular season,” Del Rio said. When asked about the team's future at the QB position, Del Rio volunteered his perspective. “David's making the most of his opportunity right now. The most important thing for him and for us is to continue to focus on helping our team win. We're 3-1 since we made the switch. The future stuff will take care of itself in the future. I don't see where we benefit discussing what will happen next year.”

QB Byron Leftwich (JAX) underwent surgery on his ankle today in Birmingham, Ala., and his future with the franchise remains up in the air. Leftwich could miss the rest of the season but hopes to return.

QB Daunte Culpepper (MIA) will not play in the team’s Thanksgiving Day game.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Eli Manning (NYG) HC Tom Coughlin promised to fix his struggling offense and help his slumping quarterback. He sounded like he'll consider almost anything. But he will not consider a quarterback change. Whatever brainstorm Coughlin comes up with, Eli Manning will make his 35th straight start for the Giants Sunday in Nashville when they face the Titans (3-7).

*** Friday Update *** QB Chad Pennington (NYJ) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

QB Aaron Brooks (OAK) gave the league's worst offense something it has lacked all year - some excitement. Brooks' energy, mobility and leadership was not enough to produce a win, but his 179 yards passing with a touchdown and 34 yards rushing gave the Raiders some sign of life. Brooks was also able to avoid a sack making it the first game all season the Raiders did not have one against them. "I felt we needed something to give us a spark, and he gave us that," HC Art Shell said.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Jeff Garcia (PHI) HC Andy Reid announced Wednesday that Jeff Garcia will start Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts in place on the injured Donovan McNabb.

QB Donovan McNabb (PHI) is out for the year with a torn ACL. Coach Andy Reid will make a decision here soon as to whether Jeff Garcia or A.J. Feeley gets the start. Garcia replaced McNabb Sunday after the injury.

*** Friday Update *** QB Matt Hasselbeck (SEA) HC Mike Holmgren threw a curve ball earlier this week saying that Matt Hasselbeck has to prove he can run and cut effectively enough to earn the starting job for Week 12. Hasselbeck responded with his best practice since spraining his right knee in Week 7. "To me, it was decided on Monday. It wasn't like, 'OK, we've got to see him each day.' We did, but on Monday, I was thinking, 'He's all right.' ", QB Coach Jim Zorn said. Hasselbeck has not been named the starter officially, and is listed as probable on the team's injury report. Backup QB Seneca Wallace will play if should Hasselbeck suffer a setback.

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Matt Hasselbeck (SEA) HC Mike Holmgren said Wednesday it is not yet a certainty Hasselbeck will start Monday night's game against the Green Bay Packers. Hasselbeck, listed as probable, has to prove to Holmgren during practices this week that he can avoid pass rushers and escape more harm on his sprained right knee, which has caused him to miss the last four games. "Hasselbeck worked pretty well this morning. I think there is a good chance he'll play," Holmgren said. "We're going to put him through the tests. ... I've got to see him move and get out of trouble, run around a little bit." Holmgren is going to take the unusual step of having backup Seneca Wallace share first-team snaps with Hasselbeck this week. But Wallace, who has made his first four NFL starts while Hasselbeck has been out, is missing at least one day of work this week to be with his mother. Holmgren said on Monday that Linda Wallace is seriously ill. Unlike the Packers, the Seahawks are practicing on Thanksgiving Day.

QB Matt Hasselbeck (SEA) is expected to play this weekend. "Matt, I think, will play in the football game," HC Mike Holmgren said Monday. Hasselbeck concurred with that prognosis. "I feel I'm right in that range where they can use me again, and hopefully they do," said Hasselbeck. "But it's really my job just to show that I can do some of the stuff that they're worried about: Can I avoid? Can I move around? Can I run? Those kinds of things."

*** Wednesday Update *** QB Jason Campbell (WAS) It's common for young QBs to look for their TEs as they learn the game. Jason Campbell is no exception to this phenomenon. Both of Campbell's TD passes in his first NFL start were to his TEs. Chris Cooley has already become a steady option for Campbell. "Cooley is a real tough guy, like on that touchdown catch," Campbell said. "He was a guy that was kind of out of the picture, but he worked his way all the way back down to the football to get open and make a touchdown catch." Campbell's other TD pass was to backup TE Todd Yoder.

QB Jason Campbell (WAS) started his first game Sunday and performed admirably posting a QB rating of 92.3. On Campbell's first NFL performance, HC Joe Gibbs said: "I thought he was solid. We had no false starts, and he handled everything in the huddle real well. The players said he seemed right at home. He didn't show any signs of being nervous."

Running Back

*** Friday Update *** RB Willis McGahee (BUF) practiced for the second day in a row and the team is considering starting him in Week 12. McGahee broke three ribs, Nov. 5, but HC Dick Jauron said McGahee has taken part in some contact drills while wearing extra padding to protect the injury. McGahee said he was encouraged after taking a few hits in practice. McGahee was able to full practice on Friday, his third straight day, in his return from broken ribs. Jauron is hopeful he'll be able to play Sunday. "He's been in every drill and taken part in all of them," said Jauron. "So I'm fairly optimistic. He's less sore on a daily basis. We'll just leave him as a game time decision." McGahee was scheduled for another MRI Friday afternoon. "My understanding is they'll take another picture of it to stay on top of it as we move forward," said Jauron. Backup RB Anthony Thomas was seen practicing with the punt return team, his former assignment when he was not starting for McGahee.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Willis McGahee (BUF) returned to practice on Wednesday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. HC Dick Jauron was concerned about McGahee's physical status after missing two weeks with broken ribs. "It's going to affect him in terms of conditioning and he'll have to get used to the twisting and turning," Jauron said. McGahee had a similar take on his status for this weekend saying, "We're just trying to see if I can go out there and do certain things as far as moving around, so we can't make that decision right now." McGahee wants to see how he feels coming out of his first practice before assessing how close he is to returning. "We won't know until (Thursday)," he said shortly after practice. "I'm warm right now, but I'm feeling pretty good." If McGahee does dress and play on Sunday, Jauron says he'll be closely monitored. "If he's up he won't be the only running back on the roster on game day, so we can watch him closely," said Jauron. "We can limit his play time, we can divide carries. There are lots of ways we can go if he's healthy enough to play."

*** Friday Update *** RB DeShaun Foster (CAR) practiced on Friday and will be a game time decision.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB DeShaun Foster (CAR) and missed practice on Wednesday and is questionable for Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins. Foster, who hyperextended his left elbow last Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, will be reevaluated again Thursday.

RB DeShaun Foster (CAR) said he hyper-extended his left elbow during Sunday’s game, but hopes to play this week against the Redskins. Foster appeared to be on his way to his third 100-yard rushing game of the season when he left the game in the second quarter. He finished with 63 yards on nine carries. There’s no word yet on whether Foster or rookie RB DeAngelo Williams will start against the Redskins.

*** Friday Update *** RB Thomas Jones (CHI) returned to practice Thursday morning, shaking off a minor groin muscle tear that had kept him out of work the day before. He faces a difficult task this week as New England has the league's second-ranked run defense. The Patriots are allowing only 76.1 yards rushing per game. Jones put up a season-best 121 yards last week against the Jets, who use a similar defensive scheme.

*** Friday Update *** RB Jeremi Johnson (CIN) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Reuben Droughns (CLE) HC Romeo Crennel said Friday that Reuben Droughns, who returned to practice Wednesday, is moving around "pretty decent" and Crennel thinks "he might be able to do something in the game." Even if Reuben Droughns is healthy enough to return Sunday against the Bengals, he'll probably sacrifice some of his carries to backup Jason Wright. Crennel indicated Wednesday the 1-2 punch of powerful Droughns and shifty Wright might help jumpstart the Browns' rushing offense. "If we can get everybody into the game, it would be intriguing to have that mix," Crennel said.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Reuben Droughns (CLE) was dressed for practice Wednesday after missing the last week with a sprained foot. "I think he's better," HC Romeo Crennel said. "We'll see as the week goes along."

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Mike Bell (DEN) practiced fully on Wednesday and has been upgraded to probable.

*** Friday Update *** RB Tatum Bell (DEN) For the third game in five weeks, Tatum Bell was inactive. He has been bothered by turf toe issues on both feet the past month, but he has been participating in all recent workouts. "It was the coaches' decision that they wanted me to be 100 percent," Tatum Bell said. "And not 60, 70, 80 or 90 percent. Next week I should be ready to go." A spot should be waiting for him as neither Mike Bell nor Damien Nash ran well against the Chiefs. Mike Bell gained just 28 yards on 10 carries and Nash had zero yards on four carries.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Tatum Bell (DEN) practiced fully on Wednesday and has been upgraded to probable.

RB Tatum Bell (DEN) HC Mike Shanahan said he wouldn't know the status of Tatum Bell for Thursday's game in Kansas City until he saw him practice this week. Bell has been a game-day inactive two of the past three games because of turf toes. "If Tatum's ready to go and he's full speed, he'll go," Shanahan said. "If he's hesitant and can't make the cut he's capable of making, we'll go another direction." Bell will continue to be evaluated on a daily basis after being scratched from the active roster Sunday night due to the turf-toe problems that have plagued him on both feet during the past month. "One of the reasons we went in a different direction this weekend is how these backs practiced," Shanahan said. "Both Mike and Damien practiced extremely well and looked quick and played that way."

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Kevin Jones (DET) did not practice on Wednesday and remains listed as questionable for week 12. However, reports around the team indicate Jones will not play. The good news though is that his ankle injury is reportedly not the more serious high ankle sprain.

RB Kevin Jones (DET) has conflicting reports on his status. According to Tom Kowalski of mlive.com, Jones has been ruled out of Thursday's game against the Miami Dolphins. http://www.mlive.com/lions/weblog/ Jones suffered an ankle injury against the Cardinals and the Lions are concerned that it might be a high ankle sprain, which could keep Jones sidelined for a couple of weeks. But on the official injury report released by the league, the Lions have Jones listed as questionable. He did miss practice today and the team will evaluate him further Wednesday.

*** Friday Update *** RB Ahman Green (GB) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Jameel Cook (HOU) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Fred Taylor (JAX) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Derrick Wimbush (JAX) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Ronnie Brown (MIA) had surgery Friday to repair his broken left hand. The Dolphins did not specify a timetable for Brown's return, but the normal recovery time is one to four weeks.

RB Ronnie Brown (MIA) practiced on Tuesday and is expected to play in the team’s Thanksgiving Day game. According to an AP report Monday, Coach Nick Saban said Brown emerged from Sunday's game "no worse for wear".

*** Friday Update *** RB Chester Taylor (MIN) and his Vikings’ teammates and coaches insist he isn't running low on fuel after 10 games, but his diminishing rushing totals tell a different story. The Vikings' rushing game has been stagnant the past few weeks, particularly in the second halves of games, and Taylor's durability has been questioned. The Vikings insist Taylor isn't showing signs of fatigue, even though he has carried the ball more than all but two NFL running backs, Kansas City's Larry Johnson and Arizona's Edgerrin James. For now, the Vikings have no problem with the way Taylor is shouldering the load.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Corey Dillon (NE) wore a red, non-contact jersey for the second day in a row at practice on Wednesday.

*** Saturday Update *** RB Patrick Pass (NE) As the deadline approaches for the Patriots to make a decision on FB Patrick Pass, HC Bill Belichick said he wasn't sure whether the fullback would play again this season, giving a "maybe" when asked yesterday. Pass, who has been on the physically unable to perform list since Sept. 2, after having been on the list all preseason, must be activated or placed on injured reserve by Tuesday. Pass began practicing Nov. 8.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Tiki Barber (NYG) showed his frustration on Wednesday, lashing out against the play calling in the Monday night loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Barber said abandoning the running game was "a slap in his face and a sure way to lose more games." The Giants only called a total of 14 running plays during the game with Barber amassing 27 yards on 10 carries. "I am not here to be a cheerleader, someone who fades into the background," said Barber. "My job is to help this team win. The opportunities I get will dictate that."

*** Friday Update *** RB Kevan Barlow (NYJ) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

RB Cedric Houston (NYJ) played Sunday for the first time since hyper extending his knee in Week 4. Houston led the Jets in rushing with 50 yards on 11 carries. Rookie RB Leon Washington, who had taken over the starting role, had just 22 yards on 13 carries while last week's leading rusher, RB Kevan Barlow had just four carries and two yards. "Cedric has had some real good weeks of practice and we had all three running backs up because we were committed to running the ball today," Jets HC Eric Mangini said.

*** Saturday Update *** RB Joe Echemandu (OAK) is expected to be active for a game for the first time as a Raider on Sunday, HC Art Shell said. He takes the spot of injured starter RB LaMont Jordan, though RB Justin Fargas will assume Jordan's starting job. Echemandu has appeared in six games the past two seasons, four with the Browns in 2004 and two with the Vikings last season.

*** Friday Update *** RB LaMont Jordan (OAK) While no official word has been given from the Oakland Raiders, LaMont Jordan admitted that his season is over after suffering a torn MCL in his left knee in Week 11. "I have to get ready to return to the football team next year," Jordan said. RB Justin Fargas will take over as the starting running back in place of Jordan.

RB LaMont Jordan (OAK) looks to be out for week 12 but the team hasn't said much beyond that. The initial fear was that Jordan could miss the rest of the year. That could still be the case. According to the Contra Costa Times, Jordan said he had been informed by team doctors that he won't need surgery to repair the torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

"I felt my knee pop before," Jordan said Monday. "Sometimes your bone can pop. But when I felt it, I knew it was just one of those things, 'Oh, boy.'"

Jordan said he contemplated a return to the game but got talked out of it by team trainers. "It's just a little frustrating," Jordan said soon after he set down his crutches. "It's two years in a row now that I've been injured. The last thing I'm trying to do is be labeled as a guy who can't go 16 games." He'll be evaluated further this week.

*** Friday Update *** RB Brian Westbrook (PHI) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Najeh Davenport (PIT) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** RB Michael Turner (SD) injured his hamstring in practice on Thursday. He is listed as day-to-day.

RB Shaun Alexander (SEA) said his left foot felt "great" after missing six games from a broken bone. But last season's MVP could only muster 37 rushing yards, and just nine in the first half in Seattle's 20-14 loss to the 49ers. His struggles are a matter of timing, he said. "The sooner I get back in there and catch up with the speed of the game, I would finally be realistic with what I can do." Alexander failed to convert a fourth down conversion, losing a yard on fourth and one with two minutes remaining.

*** Friday Update *** RB Paul Smith (STL) did not practice this weekend and is not expected to play this weekend.

Wide Receiver

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Josh Reed (BUF) is listed as questionable. He participated in practice Wednesday but is doing so on a non-contact basis. "Josh says he feels pretty good," HC Dick Jauron said. "We'll have to see how he gets through the week and then how he feels about playing a football game. You can feel really good physically, but not feel too good about playing a football game. So we'll just see how he is mentally at the end of the week." Reed wore a protective a flak jacket in practice Wednesday to protect the kidney.

*** Friday Update *** WR Bernard Berrian (CHI) played last week with a rib injury and said he's nearly 100 percent.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Bernard Berrian (CHI) came out of the Jets victory in good shape, although WR Mark Bradley took some of his playing time and Berrian finished without a catch. Berrian missed one game with a rib injury and needed to bounce back to prove he can stay on the field. He had one bad drop on a deep pass down the middle against the Jets, and he took a big hit after the drop. As far as Bradley pushing for a starting job after scoring a touchdown in each of the last two games, HC Lovie Smith wouldn't go there. "I'd like for all 53 guys to press the guy in front of them," he said. "That'll make us stronger, but Bernard is our starter."

*** Friday Update *** WR Antonio Chatman (CIN) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** WR Chris Henry (CIN) was added today to the Bengals' official injury report as probable with a hip flexor. He did not practice.

*** Friday Update *** WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (CIN) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** WR Chad Johnson (CIN) The Bengals held practice Thanksgiving Day and added star WR Chad Johnson to the injury report as probable with a hamstring injury. He tweaked his right thigh Sunday at New Orleans. Johnson did not practice Thursday. Johnson blew off a question about his injured hamstring on Friday morning and then arrived on the practice field in full gear, indicating that he will most likely play on Sunday when the Bengals travel to Cleveland to face the Browns.

*** Friday Update *** WR Braylon Edwards (CLE) voiced his concerns about Cleveland's conservative approach once the team gets inside the red zone. "Every time I get down there, I'm ready to punch it in," Edwards said, "We get down there and we're just happy to be there....We just got to be aggressive." The Browns rank 13th in the AFC and 23rd in the NFL with 13 touchdowns and 12 field goals in 29 trips to the red zone. On the injury front, Edwards practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Braylon Edwards (CLE) did not practice on Wednesday and remains questionable for this weekend.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Brandon Marshall (DEN) practiced fully on Wednesday and has been upgraded to probable.

*** Friday Update *** WR Rod Smith (DEN) blasted his teammates in the locker room following the Broncos loss on Thanksgiving Day to the division rival Kansas City Chiefs. He told them that if he ran the team he would have fired half of the players. It was an emotional outburst made in the heat of the moment after a couple of tough AFC West losses. Smith didn't talk to the media after the game.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Rod Smith (DEN) was listed as questionable and missed a portion of Tuesday's practice because of an ankle problem. "It's OK," he said after the workout. "That's all I can say right now. I'll put some duct tape on it, I'll be all right. I've seen people put their windshields in with duct tape. Hopefully, it'll be OK. Right now, I'm just slow; it's slow going right now." However, he practiced fully on Wednesday and has been upgraded to probable.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Eddie Drummond (DET) is likely to miss the game with his concussion. Mike Williams will get a shot to play.

WR Mike Williams (DET) will reportedly see action on the field in Thursday's game according to coach Rod Marinelli. Unfortunately, that's news.

*** Friday Update *** WR Andre Johnson (HOU) According to HC Gary Kubiak, Andre Johnson will start as normal on Sunday. “He practiced so he’ll be ready to go. You know, I think if he played today, he’s not 100 percent, but not a lot of people are this time of year. He looks like he’s going to be fine. Just get some more treatment tomorrow and turn it loose Sunday," Kubiak said.

*** Friday Update *** WR Jerome Mathis (HOU) appeared to aggravate his injury in practice Wednesday. HC Gary Kubiak noted, "Right now it does not look like he's ready to cut it loose. I see some limping in what he's doing. I'm going to have to see him run at a full speed clip here, between now and Tuesday to make the decision for him to be up."

WR Jerome Mathis (HOU) returned to practice last week, but did little. HC Gary Kubiak has a decision to make in the next week on whether to activate Mathis off the PUP list. "If I had to make a decision on what I saw last week, I would say no, I don't think he's ready to go," Kubiak said. "But if he makes that same amount of progress this week, I think that decision will be harder. But he still has another step to take."

*** Saturday Update *** WR Brandon Stokley (IND) looks like he won't play Sunday.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Brandon Stokley (IND) did not practice on Wednesday and remains questionable for this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** WR Ernest Wilford (JAX) practiced for the second consecutive day Friday and should be able to play against the Bills on Sunday. Wilford sprained his right ankle Monday night against the Giants and wore a walking boot the next two days. He returned to practice Thursday, and worked with the first-team offense again today.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Ernest Wilford (JAX) did not practice fully on Wednesday and remains questionable for this weekend with his ankle. He has expressed to the team that he thinks he'll be able to play Sunday.

WR Wes Welker (MIA) practiced on Tuesday and is expected to play in the team’s Thanksgiving Day game.

*** Friday Update *** WR Marcus Robinson (MIN) practiced again Friday and is expected to remain the starter over Troy Williamson.

WR Marcus Robinson (MIN) returned after a three-game absence because of a lower back injury. Robinson replaced Troy Williamson in the starting lineup but caught only one pass for 17 yards. Robinson said his back felt "good" and said he did not know he was going to start. WR Troy Williamson did not start for the first time this season. He caught two passes for 35 yards but dropped a key third-down pass in the third quarter. Williamson appeared to be filling the role of the Vikings' No. 4 receiver, entering the game only after Robinson, WR Travis Taylor and WR Bethel Johnson.

*** Friday Update *** WR Troy Williamson (MIN) The team is giving serious thought to reducing the role of Troy Williamson. It is unclear whether Williamson will start Sunday against the Cardinals. But veteran Marcus Robinson replaced him in the starting lineup Sunday in Miami, and Williamson's role is expected to diminish even more as he continues to struggle catching the ball. He leads the NFL with 10 dropped passes. Robinson could start ahead of Williamson, and Bethel Johnson also could take some of Williamson's reps.

*** Saturday Update *** WR Marques Colston (NO) did not participate in team drills Friday in order to rest and recuperate from his sprained left ankle. He remains questionable. Colston said he remains optimistic that he’ll play, but that a decision likely won’t be made until pre-game warm-ups.

*** Friday Update *** WR Marques Colston (NO) fully participated in practice Thursday. Colston said his sprained ankle continues to improve but could not say if he'll play in Sunday's game against the Falcons. But he suffered something of a setback as Colston missed practice Friday and is still classified as questionable. He'll likely be a game time decision.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Marques Colston (NO) did not practice on Wednesday and remains questionable for this weekend.

WR Marques Colston (NO) is day-to-day after spraining his left ankle during Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, HC Sean Payton said Monday. "We'll treat it and see how much pressure he can put on it," Payton said. "It's just a matter how much weight it can support and how quickly he can come back off of it. Each day we'll get an idea maybe a little bit of his progress." Colston had similar comments. "I don't know yet; it's too early," Colston said Monday when asked if he could play. "It's a little stiff. I've been getting treatment all day. I'm going to get more right now. I've had this before (as a college junior). I was out about a week. I'm not sure about this yet." Payton added Colston had X-rays and an MRI done and all came back negative.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Terrance Copper (NO) practiced on Wednesday. He is listed as questionable but barring a setback is expected to play.

*** Friday Update *** WR Justin McCareins (NYJ) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** WR Jerry Porter (OAK) missed practice and is listed as doubtful for the Chargers game. HC Art Shell said Porter complained of soreness Wednesday morning. "I don't have any idea," Shell said, when asked when and how Porter got hurt. Porter played only two snaps against the Chiefs.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Jerry Porter (OAK) did not practice on Wednesday and is not expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update *** WR Donte Stallworth (PHI) was added to the injury report on Thursday because of his hamstring injury. But Stallworth completed Friday's practice and Eagles HC Andy Reid declared that he is good-to-go for Sunday. "He did a nice job out there today," Reid said. "It loosened up a little bit for him and he was able to get some things done."

*** Friday Update *** WR Santonio Holmes (PIT) missed practice Thursday with the flu. RB/KR Najeh Davenport did practice and expects to play against Baltimore, "I feel pretty good."

*** Saturday Update *** WR Hines Ward (PIT) will be a game time decision Sunday. Check our Sunday Update link for his his official status about an hour before gametime.

*** Saturday Update *** WR Hines Ward (PIT) caught a short red-zone flip from QB Ben Roethlisberger and ran it in for a touchdown near the end of practice yesterday, his first serious work of the week. He didn't participate in the entire practice and the Steelers continue to list him as questionable, but he was at least moderately encouraged. "I pushed it, but I didn't push it to 100 percent," Ward said.

*** Friday Update *** WR Hines Ward (PIT) did not practice for the second day in a row on Thursday in an attempt to allow his hyper-extended knee more time to recuperate. "I'll try to give it a go today," Ward said. "I won't push it to the limit where I could hurt myself even more. But it's making improvements every day. "I'm going to do everything possible to be on the field," Ward said. "I'm walking better. That's encouraging. That's telling me I'm getting better each day."

Police on the scene reported that Bryant was uncooperative, combative and that he refused to step out of the car.

*** Wednesday Update *** WR Antonio Bryant (SF) won't be suspended by his team following his weekend arrest. Bryant, who is facing charges of reckless and drunken driving, will still face disciplinary action from the NFL when the case is resolved. "I'll let the judicial process do its deal, because that's the way it should be," HC Mike Nolan said. "It wasn't something that he did within the building to this team. It's certainly a distraction and it becomes one that affects our football team, but we dealt with that, and hopefully it won't distract us after today."

WR Antonio Bryant (SF) was arrested on reckless and drunken driving charges after his Lamborghini was seen speeding faster than 100 mph on a freeway. Bryant, 25, was arrested Sunday night on suspicion of misdemeanor charges of reckless driving, driving under the influence and resisting arrest, police Capt. Kevin Raffaelli said.

Tight End

*** Friday Update *** TE Todd Heap (BAL) is questionable again and partially practiced Friday. He's expected to start though.

TE Daniel Wilcox (BAL) The Ravens' most significant worry is the pulled right hamstring of Daniel Wilcox, who did not return after leaving Sunday's game in the third quarter. "He's probably right now the biggest concern of anybody on the list," Billick said. "We have the normal bumps and bruises, but that hamstring right now would be our biggest concern." If Wilcox can't play against the rival Steelers, rookie Quinn Sypniewski's role could be expanded.

*** Friday Update *** TE Desmond Clark (CHI) returned to practice and was removed from the injury list.

TE Alex Smith (TB) could miss Thursday's game against Dallas after suffering a high ankle sprain.

*** Wednesday Update *** TE Ben Hartsock (TEN) practiced on Wednesday and is expected to contribute for the first time this Sunday against the Giants. "Despite the fact that he hasn't been on the practice field, he has been in the meetings and has been paying attention," Fisher said. "So he's very comfortable with the system and what we're doing."

*** Wednesday Update *** TE Ben Troupe (TEN) The Titans will be without Ben Troupe for the rest of the season after tests Tuesday confirmed he has a fractured right ankle. Troupe isn't expected to need surgery. Second-year Bo Scaife will get more playing time as a result. Casey Cramer, used primarily as a blocking tight end, is also on the 53-man roster along with Ben Hartsock, who was claimed off waivers from the Colts last month. Hartsock hasn't played because of a hamstring injury, could see his first action as soon as Sunday.

TE Ben Troupe (TEN) suffered an ankle injury during the team's Week 11 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The severity of the injury has not yet been determined. "Ben is a little more complicated and we're going to need to do some further study on that," HC Jeff Fisher said. "If we do have an issue with Ben that would prohibit him from playing this week I think we've got a chance to get [tight end] Ben Hartsock back. He just got back on the practice field last week. That will certainly help us there."

Kicker

*** Wednesday Update *** PK Mike Vanderjagt (DAL) is the most accurate kicker in the history of the NFL, but he could be out of a job if he stumbles again in Thursday's game. HC Bill Parcells said he "would definitely have to" look for another kicker if Vanderjagt doesn't snap out of a slump that began in training camp and includes an 0-for-2 performance last Sunday.

PK Mike Vanderjagt (DAL) HC Bill Parcells regarding Vanderjagt: "I am not trying to intimidate [him or] anything like that. I think he has been a good kicker, but he keeps telling me I don't have to worry about him. Well, I am worried about him now."

*** Saturday Update *** PK Stephen Gostkowski (NE) With P Ken Walter already added to the roster Wednesday, the Patriots moved P Josh Miller to injured reserve yesterday. But it wasn't just Walter's punting that brought him back from his one-year absence from the NFL, it was his experience and skill at holding for field goals. Having a rookie kicker highlighted the need to bring in someone with that ability.

Offensive Line

*** Friday Update *** OL Carolina Panthers (CAR) The Panthers have placed C Justin Hartwig on the injured reserve list, meaning that he will be out for the remainder of the season. "(Surgery) is probably imminent in the near future," HC John Fox said of Hartwig following today's practice. "I'm sure it's frustrating to him. He came in here with big plans as far as contributing and just never really got healthy. Now we've just got to get him healthy and get him back for next year. We were hoping we could do it without surgery, but the farther we went, the more it seemed obvious that we weren't (going to be able to)." Hartwig has been replaced on the active roster by WR Taye Biddle, who was promoted from the practice squad.

Offensive lineman Chad Slaughter will replace Gallery in the lineup until he is ready to return.

OL Oakland Raiders (OAK) LT Robert Gallery sustained a dislocated left elbow during Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Shell would not rule him out for the year, pending further tests and an MRI. But clearly he won't return soon and with only six games remaining, Shell is moving ahead without him.

Also, C Robbie Tobeck is in a Seattle-area hospital indefinitely with an abscess in his left hip. Tobeck reported to practice last Monday in preparation to start Monday night's game against Green Bay (4-6) with pain in his left hip. That left him questionable with what the team thought was a muscle pull or a tear. A midweek MRI exam revealed the abscess. Now, the 36-year-old veteran of two Super Bowls is spending his Thanksgiving weekend in the hospital under a regimen of antibiotics to fight the infection. "They've got to watch this thing. He is under heavy antibiotics, I think," Holmgren said. "He's sick." Chris Spencer, the team's first-round draft choice in 2005, will almost certainly make his third career start at center Monday; Tobeck was downgraded to doubtful on Friday.

*** Friday Update *** OL San Francisco 49ers (SF) OT Adam Snyder worked at left tackle again Thursday in place of OT Jonas Jennings, who was resting a sprained left ankle that has him questionable for the Rams game. However, Jennings was able to practice on Friday and is expected to play this weekend. The 49ers hope to keep the left side of their line intact. With Jennings and OG Larry Allen healthy and in the lineup together over the past month, RB Frank Gore has had three of his five 100-yard rushing games. Much of that yardage has come on runs to the left side.

*** Friday Update *** OL St. Louis Rams (STL) The Carolina defense blitzed the Rams 18 times Sunday in just 49 plays. A week earlier, Seattle sent extra rushers 30 times in 64 plays. With the Rams down on manpower on the offensive line, they are expecting more of the same this week from San Francisco. After seeing QB Marc Bulger sacked 11 times over the past two games, the Rams are bracing for the worst. C Andy McCollum was lost for the season with a knee injury in the opener. OT Orlando Pace was lost for the season with a torn triceps on Nov. 12. Wednesday, OG Adam Timmerman did not practice because of bruised ribs. However, he returned to practice on Thursday and was upgraded to probable from questionable on the injury report. He practiced again on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

OL St. Louis Rams (STL) LT Orlando Pace had surgery Friday to repair the torn triceps he suffered Oct. 15 at Seattle. The seven-time Pro Bowler probably won't be fully healed until near the start of training camp next summer. Last year, he missed the final eight games with a torn pectoral muscle.

*** Wednesday Update *** DL John Abraham (ATL) returned to practice on Wednesday and could play in Sunday's contest against the New Orleans Saints. Abraham, who has played in two games as a Falcon, has been sidelined by a groin injury. Abraham has had abdominal surgery to correct the problem and he insists he's not rushing back, saying, "I don't think we're rushing it at all. We did a good job of treating it. I'm not going to go out there unless I feel 100 percent and I'm confident that I'm going to be all right. I don't want to go out there and re-injure myself and miss the rest of the year." Abraham is listed as questionable on the team's injury report.

However, Rogers is also recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery and will have to test his knee in practice before deemed healthy enough to play versus Miami. "We'll see where he is," team president Matt Millen said. HC Rod Marinelli is concerned about his conditioning. "I think it'll be tough, to be honest," Marinelli said. "But we'll see."

LaBoy suffered a concussion in the Nov. 12 game against the Ravens and missed last Sunday's game against the Eagles. The third-year pro has a history of concussions. He missed the first three games of his rookie season as a result of a concussion he suffered in the preseason. "It makes sense to go out and do the complete study," Titans Coach Jeff Fisher said. "He is improving, however. He is feeling much better, but because of the history and the length of time it took on the previous one, we are going to make sure."

*** Friday Update *** DL Philip Daniels (WAS) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

Linebacker

*** Friday Update *** LB Calvin Pace (ARI) To compensate for the loss of DE Bertrand Berry, who tore his triceps last week and is out for the season, SLB Calvin Pace will make the switch to defensive end. Pace has six sacks in three seasons and 22 tackles this year. He hasn't played defensive end since October, 2005.

*** Saturday Update *** LB Ray Lewis (BAL) During the media viewing of yesterday's non-contact workout, Ray Lewis showed no hesitancy in any of the drills, whether it was running, backpedaling, or catching passes. "We'll see on Sunday." With Lewis in the lineup, the Ravens have not allowed a 100-yard rusher this season. In two games without him, they have given up a total of 266 yards rushing. If Lewis can't play, the Ravens are expected to start LB Jarret Johnson.

*** Friday Update *** LB Ray Lewis (BAL) practiced on Friday, which was his first time on the field since injuring his back on Nov. 5. If Lewis doesn't have any setbacks, he may try to play Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers after missing two straight games. Lewis, the team's leading tackler, has been listed as questionable this week.

LB Ray Lewis (BAL) HC Brian Billick said on Monday that he is optimistic that Lewis will be able to return from his injury and play in Week 12. Rob Morris, the Colts' 2000 first-round draft choice and a starter from 2001-2004, had started in the middle in each of the games Brackett missed. "He played well, as well as he has played probably since I've been here, and doing it with less practice time," Dungy said. "I thought he was very good. "Call for a fair catch. Simple. They don't hit you then." Classic stuff right there.

DB Nick Ferguson (DEN) The Broncos are preparing to play without starting strong safety Nick Ferguson on Thanksgiving Day in Kansas City -- and perhaps for much longer. Ferguson underwent an MRI exam on his left knee on Monday. Although the team didn't announce any results, his teammates and coaches were talking Tuesday as though the seventh-year pro would be out for a while. He figures to get more playing time Sunday against the Rams, raising the possibility of more two tight end alignments with Johnson. "Whether it's two tight ends on first, second, and third down is fine with me," HC Nolan said. "We need to have our best 11 out there."
