Quarterback
*** Saturday Update ***
QB Matt Hasselbeck (SEA) is not sure if he will be able to return for the Week 11 game. He participated in seven-on-seven drills Friday but was a little rusty. "That first play in particular, I had Bobby Engram on a post, probably for a touchdown, and my body just couldn't get the ball there in time. It's a good first step. I anticipate healing up a lot more each day and hopefully being ready to go real soon," said Hasselbeck. With Seneca Wallace performing well, Hasselbeck feels less pressure to hurry his return. "If the quarterback wasn't playing well, then I would feel a lot of pressure to try to somehow figure out a way to get out there. But he's playing so well right now that I think we're able to do the smart thing."
*** Saturday Update ***
QB Vince Young (TEN) HC Jeff Fisher said Thursday the Titans do not set a number for how much they want to see Young run, whether scrambling on a pass play or those designed to set him loose. "We just encourage him," Fisher said. "That's what he's been doing when he sees the opportunity to take advantage of it."
Running Back
*** Saturday Update ***
RB Ahman Green (GB) The Packers are of the opinion there’s a correlation between giving sore-legged Ahman Green a day off on Wednesdays and having their featured back run like gangbusters on game day. The results have been good do far. Green has strung together three 100-yard games on the ground since returning from missing two games due to sore hamstrings. He has rushed for 346 yards and averaging a healthy 5.6 yards per carry in that span.
Wide Receiver
*** Saturday Update ***
WR Bernard Berrian (CHI) is feeling better but he is an iffy play this week. His ribs have improved but he's a risky situation given that the game is Sunday night and we won't have the official word until well after most lineups are submitted. Said coach Lovie Smith, "Improvement is being made but it would take a lot for him to play."
Mark Bradley would likely see action if Berrian can't go. "I am in the game plan this week," Bradley said. "[Coaches] told me [Wednesday] to get ready, get my mind focused. I've been practicing, so I wouldn't say I'm rusty. I'm .excited about being back out there with my guys, Rex [Grossman] and Moose [Muhammad] and the leaders on the field."

WR Mark Bradley (CHI) would likely see time if Bernard Berrian can't go.
*** Saturday Update ***
WR Terry Glenn (DAL) Did not make the trip to Arizona and will miss the game. According to ESPN, Glenn is suffering from a condition known as chondromalacia, a roughening of the cartilage on the underside of his right kneecap. He has been able to play through the injury up to this point, but he aggravated the issue in practice this week. It's obviously something that will need to be watched closely from here on out.
Patrick Crayton and Sam Hurd will try to cover the void with Glenn out.
*** Saturday Update ***
WR Terrell Owens (DAL) dropped a sure touchdown pass in the 22-19 loss to the Redskins and comes into this weekend’s Cardinals' game highly motivated. "From here on out, I'll be a different person," Owens said. "I won't be standing here no more during the season saying I've lost the game. I promise you that." That makes Arizona cornerback Eric Green wary, to say the least. "It's tough, especially with a guy like T.O.," said Green, who has never played against Owens. "He beats you once and he's doing his dance. I just don't want to be the guy that he's dancing on." Green's family is coming to town for the game in front of a sellout crowd at the Cardinals' new stadium. "My mom's like, 'Oh, my baby's playing against T.O.' She's getting all nervous," Green said. "I'm like, 'Mom, he's getting paid just like me. Chill out."
*** Saturday Update ***
WR Greg Jennings (GB) will warm up prior to the game and will see if he's able to go with his sore ankle. Check the Sunday Update page to get his official status.
*** Saturday Update ***
WR Troy Williamson (MIN) has been having trouble hanging onto the ball this season. He had several key drops in the loss to the 49ers last week that could have been the difference in the game's outcome. This wasn't a one-time occurrence, either. Williamson didn't hold onto deep passes that could easily have been touchdowns against Washington and New England. Since Minnesota is starving for a go-to receiver to emerge and Williamson, the seventh overall draft choice last year, has been targeted to be that guy, this unreliability has become a growing concern.
*** Saturday Update ***
WR Torry Holt (STL) didn't have a reception in the first half of last week's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. For a five-time Pro Bowler who has caught at least one pass in 113 consecutive games, a streak that extends to the fourth game of his rookie season in 1999, that's territory rarely traveled. He did manage 3 catches for 50 yards in the second half. Still, Holt surmised that the Seahawks, the Rams' foe Sunday in Seattle, aren't likely to copy the Chiefs. "They're going to pretty much play you straight up," he said. "So this is a game where all the receivers, as well as the backs, should get some opportunities to make some plays in the open field."

*** Saturday Update ***
DL Kalimba Edwards (DET) steps into the starting position with DE James Hall, the captain and sack leader for the Lions, out for the season. "He had five sacks, so I've got to step up and try to replace that and contribute what he was contributing," Edwards said. "James was the much more dominant right end. Now I have to be that dominant right end. I have confidence I can do it. I've done it before." HC Rod Marinelli has confidence Edwards can do it, too. "It's his time," Marinelli said, "and I think he'll do well."
*** Saturday Update ***
DL Leonard Little (STL) is on pace to challenge his career high in sacks (14.5 in 2001) and tackles (45 in 2005) as the Rams open the second half of their season Sunday. "I think this is the strongest I've been in a very long time," he said. "Probably since I've been here, at this point in the season. It's really helping me out when I'm playing."
*** Saturday Update ***
DL Albert Haynesworth (TEN) It appears that the Titans are open to welcoming back Haynesworth from his suspension Monday as long as the team's medical staff is convinced he has taken sufficient steps to curb his anger issues. "I would imagine if he has done everything that we want him to do then I think we have to think very strongly about (allowing him to return)," general manager Floyd Reese said. "I think there are a lot of things involved....We've talked to his people and there are things that he wants to do and things he thinks are important, as we do.''
Linebacker
*** Saturday Update ***
LB Ray Lewis (BAL) will be a game time decision with his sore back. Tests don't reveal any serious issue but Lewis is having trouble with the back stiffening on him. He'll workout prior to the game and the team will make a decision. Check the Sunday Updates online to get the official word on his status.
On other fronts, Lewis insinuated during an interview with ESPN that QB Steve McNair was a victim of racism during the offseason when McNair was banned from the Tennessee Titans' training facility. "I don't ever want to turn it into a black-white issue," Lewis told ESPN. "But it would really puzzle me, seriously, if anybody would ever tell Brett Favre...if anybody would ever tell Peyton Manning not to walk into the Indianapolis facility." "No. I can never understand that, and I never will because it's heartless," Lewis added. "It's heartless to do a man like that without an explanation."
*** Saturday Update ***
LB James Farrior (PIT) (groin/questionable) returned to practice yesterday and said he expects to play tomorrow against the New Orleans Saints. "It felt all right," Farrior said after practice. "I gave it a good test and I still got two more days [to heal]."
*** Saturday Update ***
LB Larry Foote (PIT) practiced for the third day in a row despite injuring his ribs against the Denver Broncos last Sunday. Foote, upgraded to probable Thursday, said he "feels good" and will not be limited against the Saints, who have won three of their past four games. Plus, he said it's no time to nurse an injury after a 2-6 start.
*** Saturday Update ***
LB Randall Godfrey (SD) had mentioned before the 2006 season that this would likely be his final year in the NFL, but he said on Friday that he might not be ready to retire after all. "I thought this would be it, but I'm just not going to say it," said Godfrey.
*** Saturday Update ***
LB Pisa Tinoisamoa (STL) remained questionable on the injury report Friday. Still, Linehan not only expects him to play, he also plans to start him. "He looks just fine," Linehan said. "Unless something changes between now and then, I think there will be no reason he won't start." Tinoisamoa has missed two games with a broken left hand.

*** Thursday Update ***
QB Tony Romo (DAL) HC Bill Parcells and teammates alike are very happy with QB Tony Romo's performance over the last two weeks. Romo, injected into the starting lineup for struggling QB Drew Bledsoe, is 1-1 as a starter with 554 yards passing, a %67 completion percentage, and three touchdowns to just one interception. "I can't ask for any more than what I've seen these first two games," Parcells said. Romo is riding so high right now that he even pulled a date with Jessica Simpson.
QB Jon Kitna (DET) earned the respect of his teammates when he reacted to a blow to the head by jumping up and going after an Atlanta Falcon. "That was huge," said defensive tackle Cory Redding. "He went after the wrong guy, but that's just temporary insanity. The point is that he was fighting for himself and for the team. Quarterbacks always talk about being tough, but he stepped up. "You don't see that from a lot of quarterbacks. I'd take that guy in my foxhole any time." The skirmish started late in the third quarter of Detroit's 30-14 victory. The Lions faced third-and-13 on the Falcons 39, and Kitna scrambled for a 17-yard gain and a key first down. As he slid to the turf, he was hit by Atlanta defenders Michael Boley and DeAngelo Hall, with Hall hitting him in the head. Kitna jumped up and charged Boley, starting a free-for-all that involved several players from both teams. Hall was given a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness. "I wish I had been closer to the play, because I would have loved to take DeAngelo Hall's head off," said Lions center Dominic Raiola. "I promise that if I see him on the field again, I'll try to take his head off. I don't care if it is 10 or 15 years from now, and we're playing for different teams -- I'll try to get him. "He's a cheap-shot artist -- he tried to hurt Rudi Johnson last week -- and that was a cheap shot. You don't go after a guy's head."
QB David Garrard (JAX) HC Jack Del Rio ended the controversy Monday when he revealed that QB Byron Leftwich's ankle injury won't get any better than 85 to 90 percent healthy for the rest of this season. That clears the way for QB David Garrard to remain the starter as long as he keeps playing well. Del Rio also said Leftwich may have to eventually undergo surgery on the ankle "for a little clean out or something like that." Garrard is 6-1 as a starter the last two years with seven touchdown passes and one interception. Garrard has a 102.9 quarterback rating this year compared to Leftwich's 79.0. Del Rio didn't want to discuss what happens if Garrard struggles.
*** Friday Update ***
QB Byron Leftwich (JAX) did not practice on Friday and has been downgraded to questionable for this weekend.
*** Thursday Update ***
QB Byron Leftwich (JAX) practiced on Thursday and is expected to be available to play this weekend.
*** Wednesday Update ***
QB Byron Leftwich (JAX) said he is not considering surgery on his left ankle and that he has accepted HC Jack Del Rio's decision to keep QB David Garrard in the starting lineup. “It's not painful enough for me to have the clean-out procedure. Right now, it feels about 90 (percent). That's about all you can expect of anybody in the locker room in week 10,” Leftwich said. Del Rio informed Leftwich on Monday that Garrard would remain the starter and that Leftwich would be given extended time for his injured ankle to heal.
*** Thursday Update ***
QB Trent Green (KC) says he still hasn’t been cleared for contact, meaning he won’t play Sunday. Green said he didn’t expect to receive permission to participate in contact drills until next week. HC Herm Edwards said Green will be the third quarterback although he is listed as questionable.
*** Wednesday Update ***
QB Trent Green (KC) did not practice on Wednesday and is questionable for this weekend. He will not start but might be able to serve as the team’s backup QB.
QB Trent Green (KC) may not be the starter when he returns from his severe concussion. Damon Huard has played very well in Green's absence and HC Herman Edwards has now said he may stick with Huard as the starter. "If we were the other way, 3-5, we wouldn't be talking about this," Edwards said. "We'd be saying, 'Yeah, when is he coming back?' But now, we're winning, and it's 'What are you going to do when he comes back?' That's OK. That's a good problem to have."
QB Damon Huard (KC) Coach Herm Edwards is facing a decision about what he does with his quarterbacks when Trent Green is healthy enough to play.
Asked point blank if Green will start once he’s cleared, Edwards said: “At this point, I don’t have to make that decision. It will be a decision I’ll make.
“Is it a hard decision? Yeah, it’s a hard decision. That’s part of the deal. I know what Trent Green is, I know what he brings to the table, I know what he’s done in the past. I know he’s a heck of a quarterback, a great leader for this team and very, very successful for this team, and those are the things you weigh.”
*** Friday Update ***
QB Daunte Culpepper (MIA) will miss his fifth consecutive game on Sunday. He has not even been involved in practices the past two weeks. "He's been doing good," Saban said when asked if Culpepper had missed any of his scheduled rehabilitation work for his right knee. "He's done well this week. He had a good week so far." Culpepper has declined all requests for comments the past four weeks, and there was nothing revealed about his future playing status by the team.

RB Willis McGahee (BUF) actually broke three ribs last Sunday against the Packers. HC Dick Jauron ruled the RB out against Indianapolis on Sunday, divulging that McGahee's injury was worse than the initial diagnosis of one broken rib. Anthony Thomas will start in McGahee's place.
RB Willis McGahee (BUF) McGahee suffered a broken rib during the game on Sunday, and was unable to finish the game after being carted off the field. "It was bad enough and sore enough that he could not finish," coach Jauron commented after the game. Anthony Thomas would sub for McGahee if he can't play as a result of this injury.
"Injury-wise it's a broken ninth rib," said coach Dick Jauron. "My understanding is we'll just see where it goes. It's painful obviously and they'll do some more tests today. He's scheduled for a scan today to examine it further."
Some reports say McGahee will miss a couple of weeks but Coach Jauron would not rule McGahee out for week 10: "It's definitely too early and we'll just have to make an initial decision on Wednesday and move from there through the week," Jauron said. "It depends on how painful it is and it depends on the extent of the fracture. We'll obviously know a lot more as we go throughout the week. But we'll be cautious with him."

Taylor is listed as questionable on the team's injury report.

RB Corey Dillon (NE) has a message for anyone who thinks he’s unhappy with his role in the Patriots offense. "That’s a lie," said Dillon. RB Laurence Maroney (NE) is questionable with his ankle but is expected to play as normal this week.
*** Friday Update ***
RB Patrick Pass (NE) was removed from the physically unable to perform list. He was at practice yesterday and is happy to retake the field. Pass opened the season on the PUP list because of complications stemming from offseason surgery to correct a chronic turf toe condition that has plagued him since high school. Pass can practice for three weeks without being activated. The Patriots must then either activate him or place him on injured reserve. "I’m ready to get back out there. Special teams, running back/fullback, whatever they need. Throw me in there," he said.

*** Friday Update ***
RB LaMont Jordan (OAK) says he will no longer be critical of the game plan, which featured 45 passes and 13 runs in Oakland's loss to Seattle on Monday night. "I think the best thing for me to do is just keep my mouth shut and show up for work every day, then go out and do my job on Sunday. What is called is what is called." Jordan said he is done calling for the offense to include more running plays. "I will just show up for work and take a military approach," he said. On the injury front, Jordan practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

RB Shaun Alexander (SEA) ran cones and did some cutting drills on Friday, but he will not play this weekend.
*** Wednesday Update ***
RB Shaun Alexander (SEA) will not play this week against the St. Louis Rams. The foot injury is healing but the crack has not completely healed. "I don't expect him to play," HC Mike Holmgren said. "He has to have a week of practice before we stick him in." RB Maurice Morris will start again.
RB Shaun Alexander (SEA) HC Mike Holmgren doesn't have the results of the most recent tests on running back Shaun Alexander's foot yet, but he said on his radio show this morning that the "vibe" from doctors is that Alexander will miss at least at one more game. "That's just the feeling I get," Holmgren said on KIRO, 710 AM. Alexander has missed the past five games because of a cracked bone in his left foot.
*** Wednesday Update ***
RB Maurice Morris (SEA) is carrying the load at running back and finally had a big game Monday. But Morris is feeling the wear and tear of being a starting back in the NFL. "He's just sore. He gets beat up pretty good," HC Mike Holmgren said. "You go down and see him in the training room, and the ice bill for the organization has doubled. He's got bags of ice on every part of his body, almost. "He's been through the wringer, but he shows up on Sunday." RB Marquis Weeks, currently used on special teams, is available to spell Morris, but Holmgren hasn't used him yet.
*** Wednesday Update ***

WR Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) practiced on Thursday and is expected to play this weekend.
*** Wednesday Update ***
WR Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) is practicing and is expected to play this weekend. However, there is some talk about him being on a play count against the Cowboys. He's saying all the right things though: ``I feel good,'' he said. ``I feel a lot better than I did on Monday. I'm ready to go full speed come Sunday.''
WR Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) returned to practice Monday and is expected to play against the Cowboys on Sunday. He has missed the past three games because of a pulled hamstring. "We would not expect him to play on every down," HC Dennis Green said. "I think he can go in and make catches and make plays for us. But normally coming off a hamstring, a player would play about 50 percent of the time. He can do a lot to help us in 50 percent of the time."
*** Friday Update ***
WR Troy Walters (ARI) practiced on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.

*** Friday Update ***
WR Bernard Berrian (CHI) looked like a new man Thursday and said he feels much better. Berrian has bruised cartilage in his ribs, but he was getting around the locker room fine yesterday. While he is not expected to play Sunday at New York, it's a good sign for the offense that he was able to practice on Friday. Berrian's injury is the same one WR Justin Gage suffered during training camp. Gage was out about two weeks, but Berrian's injury is said to be a little worse. Rashied Davis will start in place of Berrian while Justin Gage and Mark Bradley should see action as well.

*** Friday Update ***
WR Terry Glenn (DAL) said he hopes to play Sunday at Arizona even though he apparently aggravated his injured right knee during practice Friday. Glenn, who had missed two days of practice because of irritation under his kneecap, appeared to re-injure himself reaching for a pass early in practice Friday. He hobbled off the field and slammed his helmet to the floor of the Cowboys' practice building. After that, he returned to run some pass routes on the side. "It just hurts when I make a cut," Glenn said, adding that he expects his status to be a game-time decision. "I think after taking the time off from practice I'll be all right if nothing happens in the game." HC Bill Parcells had said Glenn probably wouldn't play against the Cardinals if he didn't practice Friday, but Parcells wasn't available for comment after practice. On Thursday, Parcells said he didn't know whether he was taking Glenn to Arizona. Parcells said either Patrick Crayton or Sam Hurd would replace Glenn if he was unable to play. Keep in mind though in the past, he hasn't wanted to move Crayton, and Hurd took most of the snaps with the starters while Glenn was not practicing. Also Parcells is planning to take WR/KR Miles Austin to the game to return kicks. Austin plays behind T.O. at the X position.
*** Thursday Update ***
WR Terry Glenn (DAL) did not practice on Thursday but remains questionable for this weekend. On Wednesday, HC Bill Parcells said the injury doesn't require constant monitoring and it "should quiet down."

WR Terry Glenn (DAL) did not practice on Wednesday but is still expected to play this weekend.
Chill out."

WR Marcus Robinson (MIN) will not play this weekend.
*** Wednesday Update ***
WR Marcus Robinson (MIN) might miss his third consecutive game because of a lower back injury, but HC Brad Childress said he shouldn't be heralded as a savior for their struggling offense whenever he does return.
*** Friday Update ***
WR Joe Horn (NO) suffered a setback in Friday’s practice and has been downgraded to doubtful for this weekend. Barring a recovery, he will not play.

WR Plaxico Burress (NYG) announced Thursday, "I'm rolling," and he actually practiced. Burress returned after missing Wednesday's practice. "Yeah. I'm going to play," Burress said, adding that Wednesday's break from practice was just a precautionary measure. "If I don't feel good about a specific thing, I'm not going to go out there and labor through practice," he said. "When I feel great, and I feel great right now, I'm going to go out and give it all I've got." Burress practiced again on Friday.

"I'm going to have to start continuing to stay on it, more core stabilization, working on my hips," Burress said. "Stay on it, stay on it, because last time I had the week off, I jumped on it real strong, working on it, and when it went away I drifted off from it."

*** Friday Update ***
WR Sinorice Moss (NYG) practiced on Thursday but remains questionable for this weekend. "He practiced yesterday and he was extremely limited," HC Tom Coughlin said. "He practiced a little more today and he did a little more today. I'd be much more pleased if we could just continue to build up the load and just continue to do that for awhile and have no setbacks. That would be a good start with that situation."
*** Wednesday Update ***

WR Kevin Curtis (STL) Curtis suffered a rib injury during the game on Sunday, and was taken to the hospital for observation as a result. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along.
*** Friday Update ***
WR David Givens (TEN) has not played since Oct. 1 because of a broken thumb and a torn ligament that required surgery, but he says he is ready to return. Givens have been on the practice field for the past two weeks but has been inactive because of lingering pain in his hand. "I think I’m about ready to play this week," Givens said. "I’m about 99 percent sure I’ll play this week." Givens was able to accelerate his progress by testing several braces to protect the hand and finally finding one that will work. "I have a pretty thick brace on my hand now, and it’s doing the job," Givens said. "Dave has done a lot more this week than he did last week, we'll have several game-time decisions,'' Titans HC Jeff Fisher said. ''You don't like to wait 90 minutes or two hours before kickoff but sometimes you’re not given any choice." Fisher said it is a matter of Givens getting over the mental aspect of the injury now. ''Legs are good right now, he understands everything he's doing, it's just a matter of getting past the thumb injury and he's just about there,'' Fisher said.

I did more in 7-on-7 and team drills. I didn't go down field, but I did run some stop routes. Hopefully, I can be up to myself on Sunday." Moss was upgraded to probable on the Redskins' injury report Friday, but the final status of his hamstring injury will be determined prior to Sunday's kickoff in Philadelphia.

OL Atlanta Falcons (ATL) The Falcons have placed OG Kynan Forney on injured reserve, ending the starting right guard's 2006 season. Forney, regarding as the Falcons best offensive lineman, will likely undergo surgery for his injured shoulder. Schulters' contract is believed to be for the veteran minimum.
OL Atlanta Falcons (ATL) G Kynan Forney, whose right shoulder has popped out in three of the past five games, could miss extended time. "I don't know if surgery is an option right now," HC Jim Mora said. "Hopefully I can get to a point where I can feel good enough to play again this year. I don't want to rush back again because I don't want the same thing to happen. It's been a real heartbreaking season for me. The last three years in Tennessee I missed one game," Hartwig said. "I did sign a big contract here. I know the team had high expectations for me and I have extremely high expectations of myself. It's really frustrating when you can't meet those expectations." While HC John Fox has said team doctors don't believe Hartwig's groin problems are connected to hernia surgery he had just before the start of training camp, Hartwig isn't so sure. "I just think it had something to do with it. The area was definitely weaker than normal," Hartwig said.

"He's still in pain," Fox said. "I think it's a pain issue right now. Every time you breathe your lung moves and it hurts. He's a tough kid. He sounded in good spirits, but he sounded in pain."
*** Thursday Update ***
DL Jordan Carstens (CAR) remained hospitalized Thursday as doctors treated a blood clot on his left lung. Carstens was sent to the hospital Wednesday after complaining of chest pain just before practice began. "Kudos to our medical people," HC John Fox said. "He had some chest pain and that's all we thought it was. Luckily (trainer) Ryan (Vermillion) and our doctors were very cautious and sent him to the hospital. We thought it was a muscle strain or rib cartilage and it turned out to be a blood clot. Fortunately they got him the right treatment." Carstens was diagnosed with a kidney problem last year. One of the side effects of the medication he was taking was that it could lead to blood clotting. Fox said he doesn't know how long Carstens will be hospitalized and wouldn't say if he thought if Carstens will miss the rest of the season. "He's definitely out this week. We've not made any decisions beyond that," Fox said.
